Gerrard and Carragher to miss Derby clash
Liverpool are set to prolong Steven Gerrard’s recuperation when Derby come to Anfield at the weekend. Gerrard is currently nursing a broken toe and has sat out of Liverpool’s last two matches. Rafa has commented that the Doctors may administer painkilling injections but his comments today indicate that he is unlikely to be risked. Jamie Carragher is also ruled out with his rib injury having only left hospital on Tuesday. Andriy Voronin will be available however, having missed this week’s Champions League tie with a knock.
Sissoko is likely to continue in midified in Gerrards absence while Carragher’s place will be filled by Hypia. Kuyt and Torres seem set to form the strike pairing, despite Voronins return - although you just never know with Rafa.

It really broke my heart, as Riise was a sub last weekend. And I don’t know if he’s gonna start this weekend. I’m thinking to change him with Finnan, since I think Liverpool doesn’t have the backup for him, does it? Cheers

He seems happy to play Arbeloa in either full back slot so may rest Finnan still. Rested him before 1st CL Quals didnt he ?

actually, Finnan played all games but the 2nd leg of CL where he came on as a sub on the 81st minute for Agger(!?!), which means after the sub, Arbeloa became the Center back!
so .. looks like Arbeloa can play all the positions at the back ..

I had choice last week reina for cech…carragher for carvallho…I went for carragher cos he is bound to start plus carvallho was injured..wish i picked agger! I decided to get rid of halford (suspended) for richards..had to use up four points to get gremi instead (i didnt go for finnan he might not play in the long run!) Dam carragher for getting injured! he was sure to get lots of clean sheets in the next few games.

yea it’s pretty annoying… I have both Torres / Riise because Liverpool have a “kinder” run of games coming up. However, i’m not convinced either will play all the games… i’d like to think with Gerrard out that he will call upon Riise’s experience over Babel; similarly, you don’t spend £25mil on a player and use them every other game….
