Chelsea and England lose Lampard
Frank Lampard is out of Chelsea’s visit to Villa Park this weekend. Lampard limped out of training earlier today with thigh injury and a scan has revealed a tear in the same leg as the broken toe he suffered in the summer.
There’s no details of a length of absence as yet, however he is set to miss England’s fixtures against Israel and Russia and is therefore a doubt for a return to action for Chelsea’s game against Blackburn on September 15. Steve Sidwell seems likely to benefit from Lampard’s injury, although Mikel is another option.
I’ll be updating my shortlist and scout picks in a moment with the likes of Arteta, Bentley and Gamst-Pedersen all getting promotion up the rankings for the weekend fixtures.

I was about to finally get rid of that load of crap on my bench called Anderson and start a good touch-up of my defence when this news got out…Now I don’t know whether to get another midfielder in for Lamps (as I have Butt on the bench) or just wait til Sunday and get Ronaldo back.

Alex, I would suggest you swap Anderson out of your team for a similar type price player eg. Bentley, Essien, Arteta. Then it is your call next game week on either Ronaldo or Lampard, I would personally go for Ronaldo - I think he will be ultra determined after his self inflicted 3 days off that in many respects has cost United points.
Also you say you will wait until Sunday to transfer Lamps - I would suggest you wait until the latest possible transfer date (I think the 14th Sept). I say this because there are two competitive internationals for most players therefore injuries across the board are likely!
Just my 2 cents…

I meant Anderson from Sunderland. Dropped to 3.9 already. The problem is I also have Sibierski in midfield and he’s very doubtful. Of course I transferred him in last week, so that was a complete waste.
Just don’t know if I should get rid of Lamps now or possibly Sibierski or focus on my defence, which is Vidic - Toure - Lescott - Shorey. The last two are both also doubtful to start.

O I see!
Yes I am having problems with my midfield also what with the usual Gerard, Lamps, Ronaldo bankers out. All other midfielders are debatable… Blackburn face a mean city defense, Tottenham are away, Liverpool is anyones guess, perhaps Fabergas is worth the punt if you have the cash or maybe Nani (but not sure how he will fit in with the return of Ronaldo.
Because of this I have decided to work on my defense. My tip would be for Geremi - check Newcastles next three fixtures - I think they are very favourable compared to other teams + Geremi will play in midfield and take some set plays. If you swap him for Lescott you will save 0.5m. Toure and Vidic are guarenteed starters. I wouldn’t worry about Anderson (Sunderland player!!!) for now he is just a reserve and by judging by last season their price does not drop much below 3.8m-3.9m. Other defenders would be Baines for a real cheapy or Bale as a gamble (i.e. will he keep his left mid spot - personally I am waiting until the north London derby is out the way).

Yeah, I was thinking Geremi, but I already have 2 Newcastle players. Might be pushing it…
Think for now I should focus on my midfield, with both Sibierski and Lamps probably out. Was indeed thinking Nani just for this GW, as I was going to get Ronaldo back in anyway. So will then probably take Nani back out again and bring Ronaldo in. And forget about Lamps altogether, he was just there to fill in for Ronaldo.
His bloody injury will now keep me from cleaning up my defence for another two weeks.

Some decent value in Bolton defence is they gain some form, Boro have a decent run of games although i hardly ever use their players as they always seem to flatter to deceive. Gary O’Neil joining them from Pompey to play on the right is something i will consider though

Need some advice. Koumas hasn’t been the big point scorer that I thought he’d be. I have 1.5 mil in the bank on the FPL game and Koumas is worth 6 mil. Can anyone suggest a good midfield buy for 7.5 mil and below, don’t see many fantastic buys in that price range? Alternatively I wouldn’t mind buying a cheaper mid player and then spending the excess on buying a better striker to replace Healy who is my third striker?

glenn cheap midfielder noble from west ham maybe?
[Reply]
glenn, cheap midfielder to get is smertin from fulham for 4.2, this will help you get a better striker. or barry is a good bet for always performing with points, and is a penalty taker and i think is 7.3mil.
other midfielders in this category are petrov from city, mcsheffrey from birmingham.
two other strikers that could replace healy are forsell, and chopra . jerome from birmingham im not sure baout yet

alex, i would focus on your defence first. baines is in now so lescott isnt a certainty with stubbs and yobodoin good, plus evertons run of games isnt the best. however shorey is back from injury now and readings run of games is quie good. therfore i would take out lescott and put in geremi or scharner of wigan. this way you solve your defense and are actually playing a midfielder partially solving that until next week when you can decide lampard or ronaldo. the only thin to bear in mind is that lampards price will drop and ronalds will rise in the next 2 weeks.
hope this helps
