The Ronaldo rush is on
Barring injury whilst on international duty, Christiano Ronaldo will return to the United lineup for the Everton clash on September 15. His return is likely to see a frenzy of transfer activity amongst Fantasy Managers as players are swapped in order to free the funds to sign him up. This is a major factor in the Fantasy Premier League game where player values rise and fall with transfer activity within the game.
Ronaldo is currently priced at 11.9 in that game, that’s 0.1 million cheaper than his original price. That’s likely to change by the start of gameweek 6, once thousands of Managers have shifted their sides around and bought him back. Many who haven’t kept the cash in reserve during his suspension, will have to make a transfer to free up funds and then decide whether to take the 4 point penalty for the extra transfer, to avoid the risk of a Ronaldo price rise. More significantly, the next few weeks are likely to see a massive rise in the popularity of the bargain buys who offer the opportunity to free up the funds to spend on Ronaldo. The likes of Schmeichel and the City defence, Scharner and Sibierski at Wigan, Dempsey at Fulham and Kanu and Utaka at Portsmouth are all likely to be very popular targets in the next fortnight.
For those looking to deal in the Ronaldo market, the question is do you wait until the Internationals are over and move when you’re assured of a clean bill of health, or move now before your potential targets rise in price and risk having to spend extra transfer to cover any injuries? In normal circumstances it’s always best to wait, but if your budget is extremely tight and if your targets are likely to be popular, then it could be wise to move now.

or do you bother going for him at all?? he wasnt really doing too much before he got suspended, im going to give him a couple of games and see how he shapes up.

The other side of the coin will be that he will be all fired up and peed off for having been sent off in the first place.

Well, I had Ronaldo all along, but I happen to have Barry, Arteta, and Bentley all in the same squad just in case Ronaldo doesn’t do his duty.

250,000 fantasy managers have transfered Ronaldo out since his suspension, and he’s only gone down 100k!! Other players who have alot less than 50k have gone down 300k! This doesnt make any sense. Surely he cant go up in value until 250,000 managers transfer him back in???????

He is expensive commodity. Offer him with 1% reduction and it’s a bargain but when he is selling like a hot banana his price jump 50% just like that

@IA: tottally agree with you. I don’t think the red card will fire him up. I guess I’ll see first his performances in 2 tough games against Everton and Chelsea or wait until Rooney plays again.
@DK: yea! I really don’t understand how the Fantasy Premier League calculates the increase and decrease of the players value. For example Drogba, with only 70.000 tranfer-ins, his price already increased by 300k. Interesting ..

I don’t care whether it’s the red card that fires him up, as long as something does. Man’s got ego.
Perhaps he’ll explode during the next game with a hat trick, two assists, and a clean sheet, and then dedicate it all to the fantasy managers who kept faith in him.
If not, and he gives me three more games worth of stinkers, my money will happily find its way to Fabregas, or a better 3rd option striker.

Two straight weeks where I’ve placed my “C’ w/Arteta and not Fabregas…not good luck to start the season.

A lot of people now will have plenty of spare cash lying around considering high-priced players are out - Rooney, Lampard, Gerard, Ronaldo (until recently) and Drogba limped off at Villa park…

Is the Fantasy League price down to percentage of people playing the game tranfering players in and out ?

i think his value may have gone down less rapidly due to the fact that he was just suspended and not injured. if a player is fit (and not suspended) and people transfer him in/out, his value seems to change quicker than if he unavailable (and slower when suspended than when injured). hope you all can understand what i meant in that rambling. not sure if it’s true, but it’s just something i think i noticed
i’m quite happy to do without him for the time being, even if he does get a couple of goals, seeing as i’ve got ab fab in my team. current line-up
GK: Hahnemann
DF: Clichy, R. Ferdinand (soon to be Arbeloa), A.Cole, Evra
MF: Arteta, Fabregas, Malouda, Downing
ST: Anelka, Van Persie
subs: Kirkland, Forsell, Smertin, Ridgewell (soon to be Garrido/Laursen/Baines)
