Owen injury opens the way for Martins

Finally it seems we have some clarity with regards to the Owen injury situation. Owen has a abductor muscle tear which could well lead to a hernia. The England man is likely to go under the knife later this week and will face at least 3-weeks on the sidelines. Allardyce has commented that he will not rush Owen back and a return on October 22 against Spurs is the earliest possible target date.

This all comes as a blow to McClaren of course and to any Fantasy Manager who lept on the Owen bandwagon off the back of his mini-goal rush. The absence does however open the door once more for Obafemi Martins who started the season so brightly with a brace at Bolton. With Ameobi also nursing a groin injury suffered against Arsenal last night and Viduka’s fitness hardly ever assured, Martins should now figure in Newcastles forthcoming games against City, Everton and Spurs.

  3. @Tom Mills :

I totally agree with you. If this site gets bought I wont bother with it either.

I cant believe that the would be buyer is using the “Owen injury opens the way for Martins” thread to ask to purchase it. Lol!

This is an excellent site by the way, lets keep it that way.

  5. With all due respect all - shouldn’t ‘The Scout’ be the one to decide whether he wants to sell or not???

Maybe he has had enough of years of dedication and effort with little financial rewards… maybe this is the break he has been looking for? and if the potential buyer knew what they were doing they would make damn certain ‘The Scout’ remained running the site… but perhaps on a wage!?

We may all just have to deal with a pop up of two!?

    Just a thought….

  6. Does it matter whether its bought or not? I mean the buyer is clearly buying this based on its potential and the value is clearly in the intellectual property of the writers so the only thing that would change is that the buyer may bring additional finance and/or alternative expertise to expand on what is already a great site into an even greater one.

Alternatively its just some bloke leaving a comment as a joke, to show how much he likes the site. I mean its hardly a sophisticated approach by a serious bidder

Its a great idea and I always wondered why a site like this never existed when i first became obsessed with fantasy football about 5 years ago. I however didnt have the sense nor the balls to set it up myself

either way the writers do deserve a bit of wedge for their efforts, if they sell up doesnt mean they’re going to stop running it - lets see what the buyer’s intentions are before we all ‘join the fight’

  8. Does anyone know when Drogba will be back for Chelsea or Arteta will return for Everton? They are both picking up nil in my Fantasy Team at the moment, but don’t want to use up transfers as they should be back in contention soon…

  9. Hi there

Lol..first I’ve heard of this from my holday hotel and I’ve had no email from Andrew so it’s all a mystery. I’m locking this thread to stop this getting off track. However, I can assure you..I’ve no plans to sell up that’s for sure.
