New Poll - this season’s flops

So who has been the biggest Fantasy flop thus far? I’ve just added a new poll that should go some way to answering that one. Tough one though, there’s quite a few candidates that have let us Fantasy Managers down so far so it will be interesting to see how the voting goes over the next couple of weeks.

As for the previous poll - there’s little doubt about the top candidates for the Premiership’s top scorer, the Arsenal pairing of Van Persie and Adebayor dominated the vote with over 55% between them. Van Persie was your top choice, and who is to argue after his brace at the weekend, with 32% of the total votes. Anelka and Torres were the nearest challengers to the Arsenal pairing.

  1. If you would agree that V Persie will be the top scorer at the end of the season, then why did he not make your scouts pick team?

  2. Coz Adebayor is still living in the slipstream of his hat-trick vs Derby! He’s a bit of a gamble though- he’ll go through patches. Van P for consistency!

Can I add Milner to the list of flops? I thought Alladyce would get the best out of him at the start but he hasn’t produced (in the fantasy game anyway!)

Can anyone suggest a decent 9m striker bearing in mind the next few fixtures.. I have Anelka and Van P. Looking to drop Anelka and maybe bring in.. Keane?

  3. John Terry, Kuyt, Bianchi, Eduardo, Nolan have all been flops so far as well.

  4. Going into the Sunderland game Adebayor just had the edge on RVP for goalscoring form. Plus he’s that little bit cheaper. I still think RVP may well be rested more than Adebayor up until the African Nations so points wise it could be close between them until then particularly in FPL game where Adebayor always does okay for Bonus points.

Milner has certainly been a disappointment - should have added him. I was surprised just how many contenders there were.

  5. I know that they’re not “famous” relative to the others, but I’m surprised that Kevin Nolan and Gamst-Peterson have played so statistically poorly so far.

The winner of your poll HAS to be Bent. Why? He’s N-O-T even playing. Too bad really, I think that Bent’s a quality player. He shouldn’t have gone to Spurs because of their depth up front and, even more to the point, they’re fools for signing him (for THAT much) while neglecting their interior ball control and entire defense.

  6. I had Gerrard at the beginning of the season but ditched him when he was injured.

I also had Yakubu but recently got rid of him as well as he has struggled to settle at Goodison. Anichebe’s good form means the yak is likely to be rotated

  7. So many flops so far it’s untrue. But no suprise given the size of squads this season. Class players will hit form but picking players who are gonna play every match is key.

    George, strikers for 9m (and under);
Keane or Berbatov - good for the next 5-6 games at least.
Tevez could well hit some form over the next 6 weeks.
Utaka or Benjani - good for 5.
Anelka will still do ok but no going to be the best value over the next few weeks, i suspect.
Agbonlahor or Carew (when fit) for after this week for a month or so, anyway.
Owen - if, IF, he stays fit for a while.
Due to rotation none of the others stand out in that price range. Rooney (especially) and Drogba are a given outside of that.

  8. Oh, and i agree about D.Bent being the biggest flop. 9.5m in the prem league game and he’s getting NO games and NO points, no one else can compete with that.

  9. I always keep faith with Steven Gerrard but for the price he is you do expect a lot more from him.

  10. Andy Johnson would be a contender.(I’m just unimpressed he scored the week I took him out of my team. Castor Troy warned me…)

  11. for a 9mil striker i would go for either agbonlohor, young or a westham striker maybe bellamy if he gets fit because villa and westham have some very nice games coming up against derby sunderland etc. i think young will get more points than agbonlahor too because of getting more assists.

  12. Violet : Who did you go for in the end ?

adamwhite : am trying to get a midfield of Lamps , Gerrard , Casc and Barry together.

Going to go 5-4-1 and hope no one gets injured.

But i have to make a few changes to do this. When would it be wise to use the wildcard ?

  13. ^ Castor - hold onto ythat Wildcard as long as you can. Only a fool would use their Wildcard before Xmas. ;)

  14. Why Xmas? why not African cup nation? :P

  15. violet pickles,

It wasn’t Castor Troy, it was me who warned you about Andy Johnson! Remember, I said it was Fantasy Football law. I had a little chuckle when I saw Johnson score his first goal. Its just typical of the luck.

  16. Jolean’s Dad,

You reckon? I used mine ages ago- after a few weeks I had more of a feel for who was going to play etc so I rejigged my team. I didn’t want to get left behind in my league early on….

I’m up the top now but all my subs are useless and losing value… Maybe I hsuold have waited.. We’ll see!

  17. ^ I know how you feel George. I used mine after week 3, and it paid dividends, though I really will miss having the oppurtunity of making big changes over Xmas and when the African Nation players have their mass exodus from the Premiership.

Btw, My wink was directed at Castor who is winning our League, and reminding me of that fact most hours!
