Cole out until the New Year?
The news on Ashley Cole doesn’t look good. The facts are still cloudy, although we do know that the left-back has not suffered a break to his ankle - this was confirmed in a report earlier today. However, rumour has it that scans have revealed extensive muscle and ligament damage that is likely to sideline Cole until the New Year.
We’ll wait for confirmation but such an injury is likely to create a decent amount of Fantasy interest in Wayne Bridge, his obvious replacement. Bridge emerged as a bargain purchase last season, benefiting from a lowly price tag and prolonged run in the side due to Cole’s injuries. However, having returned to Chelsea’s reserves against Fulham on October 2, he received a red card in that match and a 3-match suspension. Bridge is therefore unable to make a Premiership appearance until the game with Wigan on November 3. Up until then Avram Grant will have to look to Alex, Ben-Haim or possibly Ferreira to provide a left-back solution.

DON’T PICK UP BRIDGE!!
Wayne Bridge, Chelsea FC
Fulham Reserves v Chelsea Reserves
Premier League South Reserves, 2 October 2007
Dismissed for serious foul play
Result: Claim for wrongful dismissal rejected - 3 match suspension
I was about to transfer him in and thought I better do some research first. Glad I did.

The question I have is who else fills in at left back if both are out????
[Reply]
bridge is out till the 28th for the next two games.Ben haim should play and is around same price as bridge in fant-prem.

Good spot Terry. I looked but could find no details of Bridge’s fitness or performance in that reserve game. I’ll edit the story now. Cheers.

Was gonna get Cole but guess I’ll move for Carvalho soon. Who do you think is better: Carragher or Agger(both same price)?
[Reply]
carra, more chance of bonus and also agger was rested for quite a few games last season.
[Reply]
rafa doesnt like to rotate his centre backs. especially when agger has missed the last month, he’ll be very fresh. i dare say he’ll just edge out carra out in fantasy points

surely Belleti will be the best value for money Chelsea defender?

Being a Aussie, does anyone have any info on Kewell we have heard here that he may be back this weekend. Is this true and if so is he worth bringing in for gerrard who has been very poor in scoring.
I can then use the wasted money on upgrading other players.
Any suggestions,
This is a awsome site, keeps people from othe countries well informed.
Go the Aussies!!!

van persie got injured???????
[Reply]
Nah i’m to sure if kewell will acctually start, and with rafa in charge, he will be susceptible to rotation. Get Timmy Cahill instead for some Aussie Spirit, he may be coming back in for the derby, if not the game after.
[Reply]
actually, I just realised Tim Cahill is a pathetic player and I overrate him because of my lack of football knowledge…so I suggest getting Elano or Bently instead

Striker Van Persie limped off with a twisted knee on the hour.
Scarface the problem with a twisted knee is it could be that he misses no game time, whereas if he has severely strained something or torn something the time out could be anything. I guess we may know more in the next 24 hours.

thanks for that terry.
even if he comes up, i dare say wenger might put him on the bench…a nightmare for us all
[Reply]
stupid injuries… first Ashton(home to Sunderland) then Anelka(likes scoring against Arsenal) and now Van Persie(home to Bolton). that’s all my strikers!
[Reply]
Please can anyone tell me if Michael Essien is injured.
What do you think of getting in Kranjcar of Portsmouth? or Davis or Muntari??
[Reply]
I note the mention of Cahill for the first time. I know he is not dynamite mainly due to injury problems, but when he is playing his points per game ratio is as good as almost any other fantasy football player. And yet despite his imminent comeback, probably from the subs bench this weekend, there is not a mention of him on any website anywhere (including BBC). The forgotten man of fantasy football who could yet have a massive impact?
What does everyone think?

BBc Report
”Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will be out for a month after injuring his knee playing for Holland on Wednesday”
Any time I see injured knee, I sell ASAP!
There’s always the worry about a ruptured Cruciate! OW!!

Tom he is on my watch list for sure, as he got me huge points a couple of years ago and part of last year. With Johnson struggling Cahill is their main strike option. I am planning on watching the Liverpool game this week and see if he plays and for how long and then maybe slot him in for the game against Derby County the following week. Could be a chance for a huge return.

yes, cahill had a really good start last season until he got injured scoring every 2 games. Mark says he’ll prob come off the bench this week so maybe wait till next week to pick him up.
p.s. England are so bad
C’mon Socceroos!

I agree, good advice Steven!
