New Poll - More double gameweek fun
Okay, so after the enormous return on your investment in Bentley/Santa Cruz/McCarthy, you’re no doubt planning another successful move into the transfer market to exploit the current double gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League game.
Arsenal and Newcastle are the clubs involved but the fixtures in question are far from kind. Arsenal take on Villa at the weekend followed by the Newcastle game the following Wednesday. Newcastle meanwhile travel to Blackburn before taking on the Gunners at home. Difficult games for both clubs. There is certainly no guarantee that sacrificing points for transfers will pay off. If you’ve the cash and the inclination however, there are some tempting routes to investigate.
Arsenal should find the net a good few times over those two games, particularly at St James’s if Newcastle’s performance at the weekend is anything to go by. Fabregas will return to the Arsenal lineup after serving his one match suspension against Wigan - he seems to be a iron clad contender for Captain this week. Adebayor is almost certain to play, although his form has stalled recently - one goal in seven tells the story. Van Persie is a gamble - there’s no doubting his point scoring abilities but his fitness is still in doubt. Reports suggest he’ll be back for the weekend but it’s worth holding fire for a few days to get this confirmed.
The Arsenal defence isn’t pulling up any trees but Gallas’ goal scoring potential is tempting. Eboue meanwhile continues to be employed in a wide midfield role. They are clearly contenders. Gallas is being rested for the Champions League tie tonight but in the main, it will be a strong Arsenal lineup so it’s worth checking on injuries from this game before taking the plunge.
Newcastle appears to be a far less profitable hunting ground. Martins and Viduka look to be the best options although neither are firing after missing a number of games. In midfield there is always Milner who has shown glimpses without catching fire. Defensively there is little on offer despite the fact that Taylor and Faye should both return at the weekend.
My guess is that most will sit tight. Most managers will have an allocation of Arsenal players regardless. Gallas and Eboue will pick up some transfers for those looking to add to their Arsenal quota but they’ll be few sniffing around Newcastle. Anyway, the poll is up so get voting and let us know your thoughts by adding your own comments below.

When arsenal’s squad returns to full fitness I can see Hleb and Rosicky occupying the wings.
Where will this leave eboue?
Will he take the RB role from sagna?
[Reply]
I’d say unlikely - only in games where they want to keep it tight. First choice front six is almost certainly Hleb, Cesc, Flamini, Rosicky, RVP, Adebayor. Eboue will always get his chances due to injuries but Sagna’s got the right-back spot nailed down.

Around this time of year hardly any squad stays fully fit, so a versatile chap like Eboue could fill in at several positions. But he’s probably off for an extended Ghanaian holiday with Mr Toure in early January.

Already have Fabregas and Adebayor, so my choice is to do nothing.
Only possibility is switching Adebayor for RVP one for one, if I can confirm his fitness.

return date for hleb?

Hi Gobbi. I’ve currently got Hleb down to return on 16/12 against Chelsea.

This is in line with Wenger’s claim on 23/11 that he’ll be out for 3-weeks.

Any chance of RVP playing this weekend?
I have Captain Fab and Adebayor and I would get in RVP if he is playing.
I wouldn’t touch a Newcastle player. Too riskyy and you’d have to transfer him out again straight away!

I can see Fabregas getting the most points. I assume everyone already has him, at least I do, so should I put get Cesc or do nothing?I’m not too sure if it means ‘buy Fab’ or ‘if you don’t already have him get him’

In the post match interview on Tuesday night, Wenger seemed concerned about Fabregas, having come off with a hamstring strain. He may not even play in this double gameweek, wait til Fri / Sat before any further transfers!

Wenger, from the Gunners’ site: “We don’t know yet. It is a hamstring. We’ll know more in the morning.”
Cards close to his chest, but I’m worried about the tone. Or am I reading too much into a simple statement? FF will do that to ya…

So ‘get Fabregas’ beats ‘get Van Persie’ into second place? Both of whom will most likely be sitting in the stands.
Polls eh, who can trust ‘em…

With all sorts of injures in my squad i’ve taken a little gamble. Joey Barton is in for Hleb. He’ll either get me a cheeky goal or more likely get done for some form of assault!
C’mon Joey
