Fabregas injury scare
There are reports today speculating that Cesc Fabregas may have picked up a hamstring injury in last nights Champions League defeat to Sevilla. Fabregas was withdrawn early in the second-half and certainly appeared to be struggling with a hamstring problem.
The reports today suggest that Fabregas could well be a doubt for a busy period for Arsenal in which they face three away Premiership fixtures in seven days. That period includes a double gameweek this week with Arsenal facing Villa and Newcastle.
There’s no definite news on the injury from Arsenal thus far so perhaps no need to panic. However, Wenger has confirmed there is a potential problem.
“We will know more about how bad it is in the morning.†He remarked post-match.

I hope it’s a false alarm, he’s surely the best captaincy choice for their double gameweek.

Arsenal’s assistant manager Antoine de la Puffinboy said : ‘n’est pas le panic, Cesc est tres bien”

Oh dear, this is definitely a news we don’t need to hear ahead of Arsenal’s double gameweek.
Tomas Rosicky anyone? His form seems to be on a verge of an upward curve. Worth a gamble. The problem is, he is not a definite starter but seems to be getting a run of games since Van Persie’s injury. What is his exact position anyway? Left midfield? Just behind the striker?

Apparently he’s out for 3 weeks. Guess those people who dropped him during his suspension were right to do it, although only by fluke. So what to do now?

If Fab is out and you have bought him for 9.5 is it worth the loss of 0.5 to trade him out for 9.9 for 1-2 weeks and then have to buy him back for 10.4? Finding it a tough call to weigh it up. (Would most likely pick up Gerard If I trade him)

I’d rather he was definitely out and I could get on with some transfer activity than go through all this uncertainty. Better to have known knowns than known unknowns; it’s a rum(sfeld) old situation, that’s for sure.

Despite it being a double gameweek with Arsenal, I only have Fab and Almunia. Is it worth captaining almunia if fab is out?

I have similar situation to you mark. My only other arsenal player is Toure. Problem is, Villa are on form, so may well score, esp. without Fabregas in the team. Also, Newcastle may leak plenty of goals, but they also have a habit of scoring at home (have only failed 2 score against Villa, and Liverpool). Plus, Newcastle form must recover sometime. Big Sam had some poor runs at Bolton but always came good in the end. So all in all, I don’t see enough clean sheet potential to make an Arsenal defender/keeper viable captaincy material. I’m leaning towards giving Stevie G the armband if Fab is out.

Fabregas being out on saturday would be a good opportunity to make up points on rivals, because if he was fit EVERYONE would have him as captain. If he is out for that one match then there will be some interesting choices to be made; Get rid and get in another arsenal player? get rid and choose someone from another club? keep him in as non-captain and gamble that he does well in their second game? keep him in your squad?
I’m not sure what i’ll do yet. There will be loads of last minute transfers, that’s for sure. I wonder when Arsenal will decide if he can play against Villa?
Rosicky looks reasonable, as does Adebayor. Without Fabregas Arsenal players are difficult to choose (especially when choosing your captain). I might have to go for a defender and hope they keep one clean sheet and maybe fluke another, or a goal/assist (a la Mellberg this week). I wonder who will play upfront, assuming they play two - Eduardo? Walcott? Will they play both matches? Hmmmmm, much to ponder….
Newcastle players anyone??????…helloooooo?????

oh, i’ve got N’Zogbia. He’s about the only one worth having, surely? Actually, Martins or Viduka could be worth a punt, how about as captain if you’re feeling brave?
[Reply]
I agree with Steve 0-0. “Everyone” has him as their captain, forcing me (and others) to do the same to keep up (i.e. gamble less). WIth him out, it could be a good thing. Man…lots of injuries this season.

So if fab isn’t captain then who?
Ronaldo or Lampard??
I would say lamps.
Does everyone think that Isaksson will be the Man City number 1 for the rest of the season??
[Reply]
Right, decision made, Gerrard is my captain this week. AVOID HIM LIKE THE PLAGUE. My captains are guaranteed to disappoint this season.

@”Ronaldo or Lampard?? I would say lamps.”
I would have said Ronaldo. Surely Fulham is easier than Chelsea playing Westham????
Hmm, I’ve got both Hart and Isaksson until the situation makes itself clear.

Thanks Barefoot.
I’ve got almunia and green.
Looking to get green and man city no.1 eventually.

Im gonna go for the risky option and captain Gallas. He is looking a danger up front at the moment, and if he pushes forwards in either of these games. Or gets a clean sheet then you havent lost out. With the potential for a big gain.

If Cesc doesn’t make it, think i’ll go for big Adebayor. I have Sagna too, but i can see Ade scoring a couple against a dodgy Newcastle defence, plus probably just 2 points at Villa
any opinions on the best trio out of these 2:
ronaldo, santa cruz, forsell
gerrard, tevez, forsell

It’s a tough decision this. I’ve changed my mind about 10 times, but i reckon it’s got to be Stevie G. Shame to only have 2 Arsenal players in my team when they’re playing twice in a week.
Sam. It’s a close one, but I’d plump for Stevie G and Tevez. L’pool and Man U both have home games they should win easily. If you can though, I’d stick in Adebayor instead.
Anyone kind enough to offer their thought’s on who I should stick in goal this weekend? choice is Green (away to Chelsea) or Kirkland (at home to Man City)
[Reply]
By all accounts Pollitt had a reasonable game against Arsenal, so maybe he’ll keep Kirkland on the bench. Green has every chance of racking up some save points at the Bridge, too. I never worry too much about keepers in the FPL, a league where Gordon and Hahnemann can both let in 7 and still end up in credit - not the organisers’ finest hour, imho.

Go for Green i think, knowing him he’ll probably save a couple of penalties.
Cheers Rich, think I am leaning towards the Gerrard/Tevez combo (Adebayor is my third striker already). Although I should have mentioned, the change wouldn’t be until next gameweek. I’m sticking with my trio of Arteta, Santa Cruz, McCarthy for this week.
So if all goes to plan (i.e. prices don’t change too much in the next 36 hours), then my new line-up will be:
GK: James
DF: Belletti, R.Ferdinand, Sagna, Evra
MF: Gerrard, Fabregas, Cahill, Petrov
ST: Tevez, Adebayor
subs: Kirkland, Laursen(Villa), Leadbitter, Forsell
which in my opinion looks pretty tasty!

Apparently Kirkland was ill and should displace Pollitt. I’d still stick with Green, though.

oh dear, that will be a blow to all managers. I hope it is not serious.
Wait on, what am I doing this is from November. Sorry lads and lassie’s. Deja vu.
