Van Persie still weeks away from return

Arsenal have revealed today that Robin Van Persie is still 2-3 weeks away from a return to first team action. Van Persie suffered a knee injury whilst on International duty in early October and it was hoped that he would make a return against Wigan last weekend. However, a report on the official site quotes Wenger as saying…

“There is still pain. He is not close, he has no chance at all for next week…It will be two or three more weeks”

His absence is a further blow to Wenger who seems likely to have to cope without Fabregas for the next few games. Walcott and Eduardo are now likely to get some more games under the belts leading up to the Christmas programme.

  1. Good Afternoon marker, its your friendly scrutiniser here again!

I happen to have Chopra in one of my fantasy teams and was wondering why he has disappeared off the face of the team news, even in the predicted line-up? Do you know something I don’t? (Quite probably lol)

  2. I note you mention Fabregas could now be out for the next few games. Is this from updated information or just speculation at this point.

Any information from anybody on this point would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  3. Please tell me I am not alone. I have got badly stung in the middle of this RVP debacle. I risked buying him early this week in case his price increased beyond my means, what happens, had to sell again in the same week!!!
    Lesson learnt.
It’ll be another 11.25am decision on Fabregas for me.

  4. Hi Richard. Nothing sinister with Chopra, it’s just I think Keane will make changes and go with experience in the game at Derby. Therefore I think he’ll give Cole a start. Cole came on as sub last time out and Chopra has been in and out of favour. I’m probably horribly wrong but rather than play safe, I’ve stuck my neck out.

Tom - It’s been reported that it will be a 10-day absence for Fabregas. That’s according to Wenger’s comments on the official site which was an estimate from his medical staff.

  5. Hey Mark. Thanks for swift updates as usual.

Can you tell me when to expect updates on Hleb and CLichy? Unfortunately I have Fab, Clichy and Hleb in my team and will have to sub at least one of them tomorrow.

  6. Hey all,
For those amatures i thought i might help you out.

-Gerrard looks in good form and has a favourable few weeks ahead of him.
-Rosicky is also on form and without the presence of walcott, van, fab, hleb and the list goes on it seems likely he will be playing a very attacking role. With the double week ahead of him aswell!
-Along with the fine side of arsenal i will have to support gallas, toure and eboue who also play the double. Arsenals defence is like a woman you can never predict them but these two are likely to score some cheap header or a crazy power house shot.
-I would suggest Kitson for those willing to save money for it seems lita remains on the bench twiddling his thumbs and kitson faces a few easy gameweeks.
-Ronaldo, i have a feeling he will do something as the last time he scored a goal in champions league he continued on with a brace in premier league.
-Tohtnem players may be a way to go with them versing birmingham. I would put my money on Keane, Jenas and Bale as all are in good form.
-Adebayor is going to be my captain this week as he seems to be a lone striker at the moment with perhaps eduardo along side him.
-Pissed of sunderland verse a very weak derby this week. I see a silly 4-0 victory. So seeming jones is in some doubt perhaps chopra will be the man this week. I would also put my bet on edwards who will most likely do something good.
thats all i can say for now
    ciao.

  7. Mr Cool, before you call us all “amatures”, maybe you could learn how to spell “Tohtnem”. Also you might want to check your info as Walcott is from all reports fit and will play, while you say to pick up Jenas when all reports are that he will miss with an ankle injury.

Thanks so much for trying to help out but I might stick to listening to the experts. Cheers.

  8. my condolences to jim. i was very keen to get rvp in but thankfully held off for a bit.

not sure how i feel about being called an amateur by someone who can’t spell and who suggests putting chopra in my team.

  9. My squad is playing really poorly, and i need some new ideas to help-
    Reina
    James

    Terry
    Clichy
    Samba
    Mellberg
    Upson

    Fabregas
    Gerrard
    Lampard
    Ireland
    Pienaar

    Anelka
    Benjani
    C.Cole

Who do I need to change & who for?

  10. Jim - Did the same as you - swapped Kitson for him! - eventually got Adebayor
Mr Cool - A couple of real gems in the (albeit long) list you gave.
Mark - (so far) another excellent X1

  11. Is it just me or is this the lowest scroing gameweek this season? I haven’t done too well but it seems nor has anyone else. Hopefully Man U v Fulham will offer points and hopefully Fabregas will play against Newcastle

    [Reply]

  12. I was a really low scoring gameweek, but I managed to get 60 points because Gerrard was my captain (34points)!

Is Fabregas fit to play on Wednesday beacuase I heard he was out for a few more weeks?

    [Reply]

  13. BTW, why didn’t Ashley Cole play against West Ham?

    [Reply]

  14. Cole was left out of the squad because “he was tired and only just come back from injury”

    [Reply]

  15. Ashley Cole thing got me as well, especially after he played in the CL midweek. He hope he gets less tired for the home game to Sunderland next week :D

  16. Regarding Fabregas, “Physioroom.com” has him as returning for 5th December. I figure if he misses that he should be back next game but hoping for a starring role against Newcastle although Abebayor is my captain this week (figured he was due a goal)

  17. oh my god! Hleb was supposed to be out for 3 weeks and is back in one! what the hell is that all about??? That’s cost me points in transfers. All in all it’s been a disasterous season. Yet again i’ve been robbed of points at every turn. If it’s not mysterious injuries and ridiculous bonus points, it’s players like carragher coming off after 50 minutes!!! aaarrrrrrgggghhhh!!!!

  18. Is there any fresh news on a possible return to the starting lineup for G Neville? I notice that physio room don’t even list him as injured anymore. He doesn’t feature in this week’s team news. Does his continued absence therefore mean that he is no longer likely to be first choice when fully fit?

    [Reply]

  19. According to MU official website, G Neville will be included in the squad when MU visit Roma in CL.

  20. Does anyone agree with me in thinking Adebayor should have got an assist this weekend for Flamini’a goal?????

    [Reply]

  21. Yes!! He’s my captain this week!

    Rooney or Torres??

    Hmmmmmmm

    [Reply]

  22. I can’t remember the build up to that goal so I can’t comment but I think Kenwyne Jones should’ve got an assist. No assist was given-Jones headed it, goalie saved, someone scored rebound. If instead of the goalie saving it, the ball hit the crossbar(and was rebounded in) Jones would’ve got the assist. I think he should anyway because his goal attempt resulted in the chance which was scored.

    [Reply]

  23. I agree.

    I have Jones too!!

    [Reply]

  24. Anyone have any advice about whether to bring in Isaksson? Think Eriksson will rotate him with Hart?

    [Reply]

  25. Sean- I thought Rosicky touched it back to Flamini for the goal..

The assists are a bit odd sometimes though. I had Jones of Sunderland- who I’m sure set up their goal but no assist. Also Santa Cruz got fouled for Bentley’s free kick into the top corner- isn’t that an assist? He also touched the ball onto Bentley for his second goal…

    [Reply]

  26. goals resulting from freekicks arent assists in fpl. says so in the rules. lol. jones’ wasnt an assist cos stokes hit the keeper with his first strike, then hit the ball in. thus he basically assisted himself =]

    [Reply]

  27. Scarface…ok. Those rules obviously need changing!

The truth is I’m scratching around for points at the moment because I’ve had a nightmare. Evra and Carragher? Both went off injured so no clean sheets.
