  1. okay…well i suppose making decisions is what FFL is all about - but what’s the general concensus about fabregas? is it worth holding onto him? probably too risky to make him captain - adebayor anyone?
is it worth taking an 8 point hit and bringing in Ronaldo?

    help!!

  2. I think Fab’s such a high profile player that we’ll definitely know one way or the other about his fitness by Saturday morning - in plenty of time for transfer and captaincy decisions. Unless you like a nice long weekend lie-in of course.

  3. ‘Alex Hleb picked ip a hamstring injury while on international duty. Wenger originally predicted that Hleb would be absent for 21 days, but revealed on Thursday that he has a chance of featuring against Aston Villa. “We have a slight chance to get Alex back,” said Wenger on Thursday’

  5. Striker question:

    A) R. Keane v. BIR or

    B) Benjani v. EVE or

    C) Tevez v. FUL?

Great work on the site, Mark. Cheers.

  7. Unless you can get Rooney.

Although if you have Ronaldo already then I’d go for Keane.

Still if you have Ronaldo already you can still go for Tevez in preparation for the Derby game next week. Two attacking Man U players against Derby is sure to get you a 1000 points! ha ha.

  8. Barefoot & corey:
    Thanks for your thoughts.

I actually play in the Yahoo! EPL league, so it’s a trading free-for-all each week.

Currently, I have Adebayor & Torres up front, and Ronaldo, Rosicky, Dempsey & Lennon in midfield.

In order to sign Rooney, I’d need to downgrade at midfield (drop Lennon?) to free up some cash.

How “fit” is Rooney? Are you concerned about him being rusty?

  9. Trading for Free?!!! Every week!!!! That would make life so much easier

  10. Good point about Rooneys fitness. Apparently he’s been training with the first team this week and should be progressively sharpened for Fulham by Monday. Ferguson mentioned in his press conference that Rooneys endurance levels are fine and theres no problem with him being match ready. Fulham haven’t got a brilliant defence. And with Man U at home Rooney will definitely get his chances against them. Let’s just hope he takes them!

    On Lennon:
I’m not sure about the points accumulation system in the Y!EPL but in the FPL he’s not doing that well and is dispensable.

If its a free-for-all then I wouldn’t rush to get Rooney till next game week if you’re concerned about his fitness. Tevez will be just fine…after all, you do have Ronaldo :)

  11. My intended team for the coming gameweek is:

    James
    Dunne
    Toure
    Distin
    Samba
    Bentley
    De Ridder
    Ronaldo
    Gerrard (C)
    McCarthy
    Agbonlahor

What do we reckon? Any suggestions welcome.

Planning on retaining my full quota of B’Burn players because, even though they disappointed last wk, they do have some nice fixtures in the near future. I’m gonna just bench fabregas for the next week or two because of the financial/points implications for transferring him.

  12. Y!EPL recalculates player’s value after each match. Therefore, the only problem with wating on picking up Rooney would be that, if he has a great showing on Monday, I may not be able to afford him for the Derby match. Mark still lists him as a “doubt”. Will that change before matchtime, Mark?

    Anyway, I am down to:

    A) Tevez and Petrov or Flamini
    or
    B) Rooney and Utaka or Flamini

    Final thoughts?
    Thanks.

  13. A)Rooney and Flamini.

Flam only because Arsenal have a double GW, and Rooney because his goals and assists ratio per games is better than Tevez. So for longterm it has to be Rooney for me.

Anyone else got thoughts on which combo?

  14. Id go Tevez and Flamini, mainly as Rooney is still doubtful for Fulham’s match and isnt a definite starter against Derby. In FPL Tevez seems to pick up every bonus point under the sun, but not sure how this works with Yahoo, secondly speaking from a FPL perspective, it (tevez > rooney) saves money, and u could buy Rosicky over Flamini as he appears more attacking, especially with Arsenal’s injuries! (and capitalise on the double gwk)
