Anelka anticipating Chelsea move
It’s becoming increasingly likely that Nicolas Anelka will seal a move away from Bolton in the January transfer window with Anelka himself revealing that Chelsea are already in negotiations for his signature [source].
Talking to L’Equipe Magazine, Anelka revealed that discussions were already underway whilst also expressing a desire to join Chelsea.
“The chairmen discuss, I hope that it will be carried out,” remarked Anelka.
“I especially hope that I qualify for the Champions League,” he added.
Man City are also reportedly interested in the Frenchman but Chelsea are clearly the hot favourites to close a deal. The only uncertainty appears to be the likely fee involved with Chelsea reportedly offering something in the region of £10 million. Bolton meanwhile are apparently looking for something closer to £19 for the striker who has already reached double figures for the season. That’s £11 million more than they paid Fenerbahce back in 2006.
A move for Anelka would undoubtedly boost the appeal of the striker for fantasy managers, particularly if that move was to Chelsea. With Kalou and Drogba likely to be absent until the middle of February at the African Cup of Nations, Anelka would be assured of a clear run of starts in a side that would undoubtedly create chances for him. The only possible drawback for Anelka’s output would be the possible competition within the Chelsea lineup for bonus points in the Fantasy Premier League game.
Anelka is currently valued at 9.2 million in that game, having steadily increased in value from his base value of 8.5 million. Fantasy managers will be monitoring interest in the player closely. Should tonight’s game against Derby be his last in a Bolton shirt, it is likely that increased interest in the player will drive his price higher before the next round of Premiership fixtures on January 12.
In the Fantasy League games meanwhile he is priced at 6.5 million - a bargain whilst at Bolton - a steal should a move to Chelsea materialise.

Hi Mark, If the transfer going through and i have Anelka as a Bolton player and have my other maximum Chelsea players quota full, would limitation per club be hanging in the space if it happenes between matchdays and be applied only with the next deadline?

Do people REALLY think Anelka is worth a buy when he moves to Chelsea?? Drogba will regain his place in Feb and you could see Anelka not getting his place!…
What you all think
[Reply]
Yep, as I remember it from the Tevez transfer, you’re able to break the quota rules until you make your next transfer. At that point the game will force you to correct things, presumably by using another transfer which will cost you points unless you’re initial transfer does that already.

Depends what game you’re playing Chris. In the FPL game he should increase in value and get some decent points while Drogba is unavailable. In the long-term Drogba’s return will make things interesting and the risk of rotation will be high but then I can’t see Anelka on the bench either. If the deal goes ahead Grant will no doubt look to find a system to allow them both to play if possible.

I sold Tevez for Anelka this weekend fancying a goal feast at the Reebok tonight but after above comments feeling a bit better. I also do believe if he goes to Chelsea he will certainly not be keeping the bench warm Not been a good one tonight as I made Bentley captain over Ronny.

Jeez, after the master stroke of buying Berbs & making his captain comes the tragedy of making Laursen my 3rd choice sub. All was looking good with Leadbitter & Brown being subs but they then contrived to weigh in with a mighty 1pt between them.
Unless Gerrard gets

and Anelka will be motivated with the Euro at the end of the season.

Good points lads… after what feels like 20 games in about 4 days… now we gotta wait 11 days till next match, booo!
[Reply]
Thank the lord for formation rules…Laursen sneaks in through the back door for a jammy score of 72 overall.
Anyone beat position 69 in FPL? Am waiting for the breakthrough into top 50 and screenshot fame (overall scores only show top50).
p.s. Come on Chasetown! My friend & ex-teammate plays for them. Sure, they’ll get smashed but let’s hope they at least keep the romance alive by taking the lead…

Yeah me! Im 4th.
[Reply]
Nice one! Only 37 behind though and I noticed a nice trend I have going…
GW4 - top 100,000
GW10 - top 10,000
GW15 - top 1,000
GW20 - top 100
Look forward to GW30 :-))

On the subject of transfers does anyone here knows what’s going to happen to Brown at ManU?
He picked up a yellow card on the weekend and only played for 7 minutes which means he’ll be suspended for next weeks fixtures. Anyhow the word is that he’s probably going to be leaving in January. I ditched him for Clichy seeing how Arsenal’s got Birmingham at home.
As for Anelka… well could be worth it in the short run though Chelsea isn’t exactly setting the world on fire with their attacking flair.

Wow .. nice to see top ranked FPL players here
But i guess they won’t share their skills as they’re racing to the top seed ..
[Reply]
Mad, Don’t worry, I’m more than happy to share my wealth of knowledge that has helped me steer my team to a ranking of 4,005 (also still in the fantasy cup;-))
What do you want to know?
[Reply]
haha thanks Havers
I currently ranks in 20,000th position (though, top my league and am still in the fantasy cup :P)
I just would like to know some “how to get to the top 100″ tricks.
It’s interesting that from most of the teams in the top 50, I saw that all of them only made 1 transfer per GW or even none! I guess it was my biggest mistake, making 2 transfers per GW (with 4 points penalty) most of the time.
[Reply]
I noticed that too Mad. That was something I used to do too often and I have now realised the error of my ways. I suppose I have done okay for my first season of proper fantasy football. If it wasn’t for my bad start, when me and my bros thought 55 points was a great week, and and my accidental use of my wildcard in gameweek 1, I’d be doing pretty well
[Reply]
I beg to differ with both of u.
There are occasions when 2+ transfers a week will pay dividends. If you see an opportunity to add a player to your team when you feel fairly sure he’ll score 4 or more points than the player he’s replacing and/or gain value, then why not?
You will notice if you look at the most valuable teams that they have reached their high value by making several (ie more than one a week) transfers. These teams are almost always low points scorers for the first half of the season (or for however long they continue to wheeler-deal excessively). But if they limit their transfers for the second half of the season to 1/week, they are odds on to pick up points against lesser valued teams.
The way I see it, it’s best to front load your season where transfers are concerned to build value in your team. I used my wildcard in wk4 to good effect to buy the obvious “bandwagon” players who’s values increased rapidly at the start of the season. Since then I have gradually traded my team to a net worth of £106m and rising, whilst maintaining top spot in my league and a respectable position overall.
From the start of the festive period I have set myself a 1/week transfer limit, knowing that my team is more valueable than most teams above. I therefore expect my position to rise accordingly. Not many of the teams in the top 100 have the luxury of having a midfield 5 of Ron, Fab, Gerrard, Elano & Bentley, without making major sactifices elsewhere. I do.
Remember, it’s not about being top half way through the season.
There you go, the benefit of my drunken wisdom.
[Reply]
How many transfers did you do until now?
[Reply]
Hi, is there anyway i can search any team in FPL game e.g. how can i view your team Havers.
[Reply]
Nice explanation, Havers.
But I still think that making 2 transfers are real gamble. You will have the 4 points penalty, and the player you replaced might score even higher than the player that you’ve just transfered in. So, you really need to be a very good gambler or just play safe
About value, high team value means you already had the “most wanted” players before everybody started buying them. It’s good because that means you got the points from these players while they are on their form.
But in the end, the points are the most important thing, not the value. If you see the top 50 FPL players, they might not be the most valued team, but they have decent values, which explains the low amount of transfers, because they already have the good players since the first gameweek.
All in all, I’ll stick with my 1 transfer per GW plan
