Laursen flirts with Newcastle and Spurs
There’s inevitably lots of transfer speculation flying around right now but this one is sure to give a few thousand fantasy managers the shivers. Villa’s Martin Laursen, one of the surprise success stories of the season so far, is apparently contemplating jeopardising his fantasy output for the rest of it by signing for Spurs or Newcastle [source].
“I don’t know if they have spoken to Aston Villa, I haven’t heard anything, but it’s two big clubs and it’s certainly something that would interest me,†remarked Laursen today.
If such a move did materialise he’d not only be moving from a side with a solid back four to a side with a decidedly shaky one, he’d also be turning his back on the set-piece delivery of Young and Barry that has helped him to five Premiership goals thus far.
Laursen is owned by a third of those currently playing the Fantasy Premier League game. They’ll be hoping that this kind of talk is just a cunning plan on Laursen’s part as he enters into negotiations over a new Villa contract.

who are the best strikers in the 9 million range? I currently have Keane and Anelka.
Perhaps Berbatov would be better? I can’t have Tevez as already have 3 man u players!

Maybe an Arsenal striker??

Adebayor (£8.8 m) or Eduardo (£8m) make the most obvious appeal on current form and forthcoming fixtures.

Will Eduardo play though? What with Van Persie coming back, I think it’s a little bit of a gamble picking an arsenal striker. I would have Eduardo in every week though if I knew he was going to play. Same with Van Persie.
How do you see the strikers lining up for the next while?

My personal opinion is that Adebayor/Eduardo will start and Van Persie (if fit) will come on at some point in the second half - playing against Birmingham, there is a strong possibility that the game will be well won by the time Van Persie comes on so Wenger will probably take off the best goalscorer in the game.
I did have Adebayor in my team but I off-loaded him purely because I thought Van Persie would come back into the team and the goals may be more evenly shared. I did not reckon upon Eduardo’s decent performances.

Why has Allerdyce gone?
Surely Shearer will come in!

Any reason why Hoyte took th eplace of Sagna on JAn 1st? I am thinking about an Arsenal defender.
Who would you suggest?

Moz, Assuming you are playing the FPL I think Clichy offers the best value of the Arsenal defenders. He is currently priced at 6.0, is a dependable starting player, and has begun picking up assists.

Anelka was not playing for Bolton in the last FA cup match. So will he start for Bolton in this week EPL fixture?
[Reply]
Laursen is not going anywhere! Just a tactic as his own contract talks loom.

I think Anelka will. He wasn’t played along with many of the other 1st team regulars. It could also be that he wasn’t cup-tied should a bid be accepted for him. Anelka will want to play anyway. Good chance of a goal too, what with him trying to impress the Chelsea camp, and trying to get them to up their bid.
I’ve gone for Ronaldo captain this week. I don’t know what affect Allardyce leaving will have on the team. I feel the caretaker manager will play it very safe with his team and sit 5 across midfield to try and play for the draw. Players could either be up or down.
Fabregras was my other option.

Yeah its a coin toss between Fabregas and Ronaldo I think… Anyone else have any thoughts which one will do best??
[Reply]
Newcastle’s defence is a shambles and I can see them getting hammered, with Ronaldo being amongst the points.
