More agony for Agger
Daniel Agger’s season could be in doubt after the Liverpool defender suffered a recurrence of his metatarsal injury.
Agger was on the bench at Boro at the weekend and set for a return, maybe in midweek against Luton in the FA Cup. However, according to Rafa, Agger felt some discomfort on Sunday morning and he is now effectively back to square one with the injury that has kept him out since September.
It’s not yet know how long Agger will be absent but a period of months seems likely.
“It’s not easy to say when he will be back. He is going to see different surgeons and then we will be able to analyse the situation,” commented Benitez earlier today.
Rafa has certainly ruled him out for the next few weeks. That is likely to mean that Hyypia will extend his stay in the Liverpool lineup, increasing his appeal for fantasy managers, while new signing, Skrtel, seems likely to get an early opportunity.

Wonder when the FPL will get around to pricing Skrtel up. Not that I’d be wanting to invest in Reds’ defenders right now.

Just brought in Gallas myself… he’s definitely going to a goal in the next couple of games!
[Reply]
What’s the point of this? Who cares? With Rafa’s rotation policy when did Agger all of sudden become material to write about?
[Reply]
Hi Steven. As I mentioned, Agger’s absence will prolong the stay of Hyypia in the Liverpool side which will therefore increase his value for fantasy managers.
Agger himself perhaps isn’t of value - as mentioned in my scout notes - he’s expensive and as you point out, prone to rotation, plus Liverpool’s clean sheet record isn’t that great at present. Hyypia however is far cheaper in most games so that negates those factors somewhat. His only drawback was the eventual return of Agger who would likely oust him from the side. That makes a story on Agger’s continued absence newsworthy.

If you read the last paragraph you would know what it all about steven. And it isn’t all just about Agger.
Great site Mark!

DEFENCE;
Brown, Richards, Laursen, Campbell, Baird
I am thinking of bringing in Sanderos or Lescott for Baird? WHAT YOU FINK?
MID:
Fabregas, Ronaldo, Gerard, Larsson, Kapo
WHAT SHOULD I DO HERE?? Get rid of Kapo for Cahill or Bentley??
STRIKERS:
Bent, Benjani, Agbonlahor
REALLY CLUELESS AS TO WHAT TO DO HERE!
I have 2.9m in bank - what do you see as the priority move this week? I’m thinking.. Arsenal defender?
WOULD APPRECIATE ALL YOUR VIEWS LADS!!
[Reply]
Sorry, I don’t play FPL, so I can’t help you there.
Back to Agger: Unfortunately that will just make Rafa rotate bewetewwn Skrtel (Squirtle?)and Hyppia, so neither is really worth buying.
On an unrelated subject, why does Vidic always make the picks over Ferdinand? Ferdy has less injuries and has scored more goals, so seems the better choice.

Chris: get rid of Benjani, his couldn’t hit a barn door illness is coming back. redknapp looked furious with him yesterday and i don’t think he will be keeping that slot for much longer get Young or invest all your pennies and get tevez but what do i know???
[Reply]
chris: just looked at ur input again and spotted that u av agbonodadoda as a forward so you don’t need 2 villa forwards, get tevez then, solves that

Useful info about Agger Mark, thanks. I put Hyppia in for Agger when he got injured and have been waiting for Agger’s return as a time to take Hyppia out. I play the Telegraph game and he’s done well for me for a cheap defender so this is good news. I expect Liverpool to come good again soon. Keep up the good work, don’t know where you find the time!
[Reply]
OK, who do I offload? Torres or Anelka? (or neither?) Discuss….
[Reply]
Havers: Not Torres….Time will tell how well Anelka fits into the Chelsea team. I’m holding off on him for a couple of weeks.
[Reply]
The only news we need is who to have as captain this week. Noone will make Hyypia captain so there is no point in writing about him.
[Reply]
Would anyone like to posit thoughts on the likelihood that Scousers will focus on CL matches, thereby increasing the likelihood of a Torres rest week some time in the near future?
Cheers,

Unless Ronaldo is out for 2+ months I can’t imagine an injury being of much significance since no one would dare sell him. Or would they…?
[Reply]
Thanks Nige!!!
Yeah Benjani pissing me off no end. Playing Derby this weekend so will get rid after that. Might just well take Teves alright
[Reply]
Lol..it appears I have someone impersonating me on here now. That last post by “Mark” was not from me and there is no injury to Ronaldo.
[Reply]
Phew… started worrying about Ronaldo for a minute. Had enough injuries this season!
[Reply]
Hi Talon..regarding the Ferdinand vs Vidic issue, as I mentioned in my notes, this is now a very close call. I went with Vidic previously due to a slightly increased goal threat, a slight difference in price in most fantasy games and the injury scare that Ferdinand had over Christmas. It’s very close now though and it would only be the price issue that would possibly see me select Vidic over Ferdinand for a little while longer. He’s due a goal as well.

Mark, I’ll forgive you if you look at my team above and let me knwo what you think
Cheers bud!

Chris,
Question to you is, what formation do you tend to play or want to play? From your lineup I would guess a 4-4-2.
The biggest two in your lineup to get rid of at the moment are Wes Brown and Benjani. They’ve both been steadily losing value and will only continue to do so.
I think bringing in an Everton defender is a good decision at this point. By all means take Lescott if you can afford him, but take a look an Jagielka.. he offers solid value at 4.9 and is sure to keep his place at least until yobo returns. This would also free up more funds for an upgrade at mid/forward.
Me personally, I would spend most of your funds in upgrading Benjani to a solid foward. Upgrade to one of the stars in the 9+ range: Tevez, Adebayor, Berbatov, even Keane or Anelka.
Otherwise another option is to upgrade to Santa Cruz and use the rest in an attempt to upgrade your mid (Not sure if you would have enough to upgrade Kapo to someone along the lines of Petrov/Bentley/Barry).
PS: Who’s keeper btw?
[Reply]
Does anyone know when Skrtel will be added to The FPL?
[Reply]
I am also in the “pissed-off with Benjani” brigade - one more week and that is it: hope he get’s a hatrick against Derby, but I somehow doubt it…anybody fancy a bet on 0-0??
The think that worries me is that if he does not come up with the goods this week there will be a mssive transfer out on him and his value will plummet…
[Reply]
Yeah off-loaded Benjani at least a month ago.. no great loss.. Use ya money on Tevez.. has rarely let me down and has gone up in value.. Lescott or Gallas? what you guys think?? Tempted to drop Distin soonish..
[Reply]
I’ll probably drop Distin next week. To replace him I’m probably going to take Lescott.

The defensive options for everybody suddenly look limited if you already have an Everton or Manchester United defender in your line-up.
Portsmouth look vulnerable, particularly after losing players to the African Mations Cup; Arsenal without Toure don’t inspire the same amount of confidence; and Liverpool look jaded particularly at the back. Perhaps a Chelsea defender? Belletti or Alex? - their next three games don’t seem too overwhelming: Birmingham (away); Reading (home); Portsmouth (away).
[Reply]
Besides Lescott, which defender would be the best between Everton And ManC?
[Reply]
Thanks marc!!
My keepers are James and Man City new guy
Yeah benjani out!!!! Other views welcome!
[Reply]
I had a discussion last week regarding swapping James for Alumunia our future england no 1. People thought I was mad and so did I just before I clicked on confirm, but I reckon I made the right choice after seeeing the usually solid portsmouth defence this weekend. Yeah, james is good for +3 saves and the odd pennie save but Alumunia is going to prove a much better investment as long as they don’t play birmingham again. Most of the top teams have James and I see a chance to nick a few points. What ye think???
[Reply]
Looks like the best defenders (or only defenders to have!!!??) are Ferdinand, Vidic, Lescott and Laursen and perhaps O’brien as a bench warmer.
Or Carvalho instead of doubling up on Man U.
Damn, I have only have the weakest one of the above!!!
Mine are Clichy, Evra, Campbell, O’brien & Kelly (my midfield is rather well stocked!)
I’m going to shift out Campbell after this week and buy in Vidic. I agree with Mark, he’s due a goal soon.
[Reply]
Lads - will Wes Brown play this weekend. What you think Mark?
I know his future looks dodgy but I’m only concerned about this weekend… ta!!
[Reply]
I’m in the same both as both of you (the Moz and Chris). I reckon I’ll keep Brown as he should play, and unless you can see no transfers elsewhere in your team, I suggest you do the same. @The Moz I also have only O’brien out of that list! I want to upgrade Brown soon for either Ferdinand or Vidic, but then I’m thinking are they worth the extra half a mil more than Evra(6.6)? I might bring Lescott back in as I currently have no Everton defender, but I can do without Laursen as Bouma is cheap and a regular starter. Plus I hate Laursen. Finally, Carvalho is great value in the FPL. He had a great point per game record when I had him and he was awarded lots of bonus points.
