Midweek Team News

The team news has had a once-over in the light of all the action from the FA Cup at the weekend. I’ll be updating this tomorrow as more news surfaces on injuries to Rosicky, Richards and Campbell among others and as clues emerge about possible rest and rotation with Premiership sides taking on two games in the space of five days.

  1. Keep us posted on the Richards situation Mark. I’m screwed if he’s out. Already have Belletti out!

  2. Mark, If MArlon King is going to be a regular for Wigan who will make way?
    Marcus Bent?
I suppose Heskey will get injured again….

  3. I’m worried about Vidic - transferred him in this week and now he is doubtful for wednesday!

  4. Vidic looks almost certain to miss game on Wed. Fergie commented that he (Vidic) and his family are all suffering with the virus. Good job my bench is packed with 3.7 million rated sunderland players or could they turn out to be good defensive balloons?

  5. I’m worried that Grant will bench Cashley in midweek for his off-side shenanigans that are all over the redtops. Still, nothing I can do about it now…

  6. “Off-side shenanigans”?

What’s he been up to now?

  7. She must off been a classy bird to let Cashley get sick by the side of the bed and then let him carry on with the shenanigans.

  8. Which full-backs should i get now that Richards and Belletti are out- Evra looks solid (with or without vidic) and Sagna and Clichy look ok but are there any other options- i’d normally go for parmarot or hreirdarson but pompey’s fixtures arent nice.

any thoughts for long term solutions or just bite the bullet and transfer richards and belletti in later?

  9. Ahhh- yeah I did hear about that…

    He’s 100% man.

  10. As long as he’s 100% in the line-up and gets a 100% clean sheet (unlike those on his bed, I guess) I couldn’t care less if he dances round the room in leather chaps singing Mamma Mia at the top of his lungs.

  12. Inshaman- could be worse, I have Rosicky (out), Belletti (out), Vidic (out), Campbell (major doubt), Keane (not expected to play), and Cahill (banned)…wow, gonna be a rough week…

  13. wow it could be worse indeed. =( impressive Brian lol

  14. I too have Belletti out, Cahill out and Keane + 3 subs that dont play, just bought them as they were like the bugie, cheap.
    Fabergas as captain.
Have 7 points already, if I could get 35 points or more I will be happy this week.
I am in three mini leagues and am top of all three, but I might get caught up this week.
Come on Cesc help me out!!

  15. Tottenham look like they are on the way up and i desperately need a new midfield dynamo to keep my team pushing on and replace the deadwood which currently sits in their.

But whose the most reliable? Jenas, Lennon, Malbranque or even Huddlestone?

Any ideas or am i barking up the wrong tree?

  16. Speaking of barking, did you see Cashley ‘conquest?’

SO glad that he brought his show to CSKA London; a perfect fit.

Million pound talent with a 10 pence head…

Jenas looks like a good option, but Tottenham don’t have an easy run of fixtures.

    Who are better to have:
    1.Carragher, Cahill, M.Bent
    or
    2.Clichy, Jenas, A.Young

  18. I just Noticed that Liverpool and Westham are playing their catch up games in GW28, and Chelsea and Tottenham arent playing in GW27. Does anyone know when this catchup could be scheduled in?

  19. With Woodgate joining King in central defence, does the panel think that Spurs might finally be able to nab a few clean sheets, or does their style of play just naturally preclude this?

The Spurs website seems to indicate that it could be at the end of Feb, but this seems odd as they’re playing Chelsea in the Carling Cup on 24th Feb.

  21. Mark,

Your prediction Elano could be rested against Derby is a concern to me. I had drafted him in as a short-term replacement for Cahill on the basis of fixtures.

Is your prediction just a hunch or is there any foundation? I realise he has been ineffective as late but I thought he might do well versus a Derby team in tatters.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  22. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I took some drastic action at the weekend in an effort to regain top spot in my league. 3 transfer AND gambled on Vidic as captain. Based my decision on the fact that Ronaldo is due a poor game sometime, or could possibly be rested after the cup match, and everyone has him as captain. At the time, Vidic looked like a certain starter and as Mark keeps pointing out in his scout picks, he’s overdue a goal.

Has my cunning plan definately backfired, or is there still a chance that Vidic could start?

    [Reply]

  23. Silly boy lol, worth a gamble though i suppose.. If you had Ferdinand you might of been on a winner as captain.. but… oh well..

    [Reply]

  24. I followed some of the same logic as ‘Havers’ on Ronaldo and with Belletti and Cahill out went for Petrov as Captain for a gamble to stay top of mini league.

By the way, Cahill still looks worth keeping. He may lose a game to go to OZ but so what. Midfield players of his standard are pretty thin on the ground right now. Look at Gerrard for example, what has he done in recent weeks (in FPL terms) compared to his price tag?
