Updated Player Rankings
Terry climbs. Fabregas drops and the Birmingham bandwagon rolls. I’ve updated the player rankings tables in the right-hand menu following this weekends games and the revised 5-week schedule.
As always, these rankings reflect the next five weeks of fixtures and are based on form, fixtures, price and the likelihood of selection. Read on for some coded messages on the latest changes…
No major changes to the keeper rankings. Cech holds on to the top spot with a six games in five weeks to come. Reina’s just behind with favourable fixtures that see him play four at home in five. Friedal and Kirkland are new entries with fixtures looking good for the pair. Robinson also comes in just above them with six in five, four of which are at White Hart Lane. Green drops out of the rankings with four away games in five.
In defence, Terry gets promoted to the top spot with six in five. Carragher holds firm in second. Lescott and Distin follow with fixtures looking strong and Hutton climbs with six in five. Ferdinand climbs above Gallas in fifth with better fixtures over the five games. Dunne drops places with City’s fixtures looking tough. Samba climbs a little then while Shorey and Scharner are new entries with decent fixtures and goal/assist potential.
In midfield Gerrard holds on to the top spot with four in five at home. Ronaldo is second with Ballack a new entry in third with five in six and Lampard’s pending 3-match ban a factor. This will change of course should Chelsea lodge a successful appeal. Fabregas falls like a stone as form drops. Jenas climbs with five in six while Bentley is just above him with form and favourable fixtures. Ljungberg drops out with four away form home in five. Joe Cole, Barry, Hunt and City’s Johnson are all new entries.
Up front Torres keeps the top spot but Berbatov and Yakubu climb above Adebayor on fixtures and form. Berbatov has five in six, while Yakubu has decent fixtures and a scoring streak going. Tevez and Young both have slight climbs, while the Birmingham pair of McFadden and Forssell are new entries on form and decent fixtures. Benjani drops again and the Chelsea pairing of Drogba and Anelka are still ranked low, despite five in six, due to the potential of rest and rotation.
Keep an eye on the dates next to each heading in the right-hand menu to check when these rankings are next updated. I’ll take a look at these each day as the week goes on and if there are any significant changes I’ll update you with a post.

Is it worth trying to buy a Spurs player with double game week coming up??
I’m thinking it may not be worth it cos of the opposition plus spurs are so unpredictable

berbatov maybe, no one else stands out tho

Which Chelsea defender is most likely to get starts apart from Carvalho or Terry?

Mark,
Do you still have your wildcard and if so (or even if not), which team would you build right now?
What’s the team that makes you salivate and could still be afforded?
[Reply]
Do you think Forssell will continue with a regular starting place ?

Still holding on to Alex hoping that Terry or Carv will be rested (playing PFL game)- any chance of this happening over the next fixtures, or is it worth ditching him?

Belletti/Ferreira
Who is going to get the nod over the upcoming games?
Cole - surely going to play against Derby, as Bridge likely to play agianst Barnsley at weekend in FA Cup?

Personally I don’t see Terry rested for any matches. Grant learnt a harsh lesson recently in that if you put out your second team you come second every time, if you put out your first team you win games. Terry is just too good to benched and frankly he holds a lot of influence in that squad and would not tolerate being benched methinks.
I’ve got Lennon for the coming double header but I’m beginning to think that might have been a mistake with the rotation Ramos does with the UEFA cup in mind.
Reckon Forsell will keep out Jerome now that McLeish is finally realising what a quality player he is, and the fact he formed a good partnership with McFadden at the weekend.
