Oh Sidebar where art thou?
There’s an issue with the site in Internet Explorer today whereby the right-hand menu has disappeared. In Firefox the site is performing as normal.
I’ll restore the sidebar back to an earlier version later tonight which should hopefully fix this. Right now though, I’m at work without my backups so IE users will have to make do for a few hours. Normal service will hopefully be resumed very soon however.

It’s been a fantastic morning for the right-hand side menu here on Firefox, you IE users don’t know what you’re missing….

Apart from my granny, who uses IE anymore? Wouldn’t bother fixing it.

I fear Grannies so I’ve fixed it regardless. Had to roll back some of my recent changes but will drip them back in over the next couple of days.
IE is a bit of a nightmare - only seemed to be an issue with earlier versions.

Granny Moz here - looks good on IE explorer! I really must update my Windows 95 and this dial up doesn’t get any quicker!!

Lads - will lamps play both games in the double game week? Thinking of taking him in but not sure if Ballack is a better option to start both games?

Is it my ageing eyes or has the colour scheme and graphics just got sharper tonight?
Or did I accidentally take that second acid hit…

Nothing wrong with your eyes puffin…had to fix the damn IE problem so rolled up the other changes while I was at it. Still got some tweaks to do but it seems to be working out okay. Had to put the rankings update to one side to fix the problems though but should have time to get that done in the morning.

My team is:
Hart (cerny)
Carrager Finnan Carvalho Ball (anderson)
Ron. Fab. Ger. Larrson (teale)
Anelka Adebayor Jones
What changes shall I make?
I think i will take out finnan for brown (although will neville play?), but not sure about who else. Should I get a 2nd keeper or not? i.e. a decent one like robinson perhaps.
What shall I do with anelka? I’m thinking yakubu….but after the gameweek….
cheers

i reckon sell finnan for jagielka, or lescott if u can afford. also sell cerny for robinson as cerny doesnt start anymore and man city defence is very poor at the moment without dunne and richards… keep anelka for the double header he may start performing…
hope this helps!
[Reply]
There any keepers at 4.0 on fpl that are better choices than cerny?

Reply by ben on March 11, 2008 10:43 am:
cerny doesnt start. i reckon gordon (sunderland) is best bet, they are pretty strong at home. but based on fixtures possibly taylor from birmingham…

Kirkland for Wigan… on form

Taylor of Birmingham may be worth a look. He saves a lot and their next 4 games arn’t too bad but Birmingham rarely keep clean sheets………

I hope you’re not talking about Martin ‘Tiny’ Taylor!
If Blatter gets his way, he could be out for a while!

Anyone else think that Robinson is still on thin ice, he blundered again the other week - I’m thinking of sticking with Cerny for the time being as I sense a recall
Could do with a stronger first choice keeper though, at present I have Hart.

How about Kirkland? I know he’s 4.1, but if you can afford the extra 0.1, he could be worth a look. Wigan aren’t leaking many at the moment and their fixtures look decent.

ron.(c) ger. fab. larrson
adebaoyr tevez jones

very nice team. a.cole might be dodgy as chelsea full-backs dont seem to have guaranteed positions. if he doesnt start get evra (if u can afford) or brown (if neville aint back!)or jagielka as everton defence is the best on the league at the moment…
[Reply]
Will lamps play both games next week lads? or Ballack?
[Reply]
i have got rid of adebayor and brought in anelka. Don’t know if that was a wise move or not.
[Reply]
I think both will play twice in the double week, chelsea will want to bounce back from the FA cup defeat, and Grant has had some good results in the league when they’ve both played together. I think the “lamps injury scare” was just to save face from the Barnsley defeat. Ive gone for Ballack, Gerrard, Ronaldo (c) and Bentley in midfield…
[Reply]
Do you think ronaldo will be rested for either game in the double gameweek.
[Reply]
or tevez or brown for that matter. Also do you know when will neville return
[Reply]
I think there is no doubt that Ronaldo will play both games,United have two games to focus on Premiership without any other competitions to worry them,Tevez may be rotated now that Saha is okay (for the moment according to Teamtalk).I have Brown and I think he should be safe as Neville is still not fully fit.
Thinking of taking a 4 point hit though Tevez for Adebayor, but I think Tevez could be sacrificed for one of the games
[Reply]
Dave I was also thinking that I could bring in Tevez for Adebayor, but the sell on fee would have cost me 0.8m so not worth it (and a 4 point penalty). Fergie might go with Saha in one of the games, too. Tevez’s returns over the last 6 or 7 haven’t been that great whereas Addy is a guaranteed assist or goal every game.
I decided instead to bring in a second UTD defender, Wes Brown. He’s started every game for ages and looks a cert for the double. Predicting two clean sheets for UTD next week, which could see that pair net me 24 points if they both play. I also brought in Pienaar for Ljundberg to free up some cash, I know he’s got a knock but he’s a great long term purchase to take me through to the end of the season.
My team for the double double header weekend so far is;
Howard (niemi)
Lescott; RFerdinand; Brown; Laursen/Scharner (TBC)
Ronaldo; Gerrard; Lennon; JObrien/Pienaar (TBC)
Adeaboyr; Torres (Forsell)
Any thoughts on the Def/Mid lineup guys?
Torres and Gerrard are playing so well together ATM I couldn’t justify to myself to get rid of either one of them. Hopefully Torres will start every game with Everton hot on their heels and the battle for 4th spot still well and truly on.
Also, I’ve got potentially 5 players with a double header inc. JObrien, couldn’t see myself bringing in any Chelsea players really. United have fantastic fixtures in the double header.

You not considering Lampard in for Gerard for one week only?… I would have thought it was an obvious swap for this week??
[Reply]
Reply by Al on March 12, 2008 4:36 am:
Lampard would have made my penalty 8 points in total this week and its already tight in the league I’m in, figure that Gerrard is likely to continue his good form so probably not worth the hit, but I’m sure he’ll prove me wrong this weekend.

start scharner ahead of laursen next week. wigan v bolton looks like a clean sheet, wigan defence is solid at the moment and scharner is a goal scorer.
sell laursen. if villa start keeping clean sheets u can get zat knight (4.3!!!) who will start every game. laursens goal scoring/bonus days are over…
laursen for brown looks a very good swap. when neville comes back you can sell brown for him…
[Reply]
anyone else thinking it might be time to get rid of Laursen? his points have massively dried up recently, and it’s been 14 games since Villa last had a clean sheet in the premiership.
i bought him for 5.1 (he’s now worth 6.5), so my sell on fee would be 5.8, which would mean i could do a straight swap for Wes Brown ready for his double gameweek. although, as I have 0 in the bank it would mean I wouldn’t be able to bring Laursen back should he start getting big points again. opinions anyone?

I feel the same way about Laursen but with Villa’s small squad he is a gauranteed starter with a potential goal threat,I know he hasnt scored of late but thats because he is getting double the attention in games,I am going to hold on to him because I bought him when he was worth 4.5! and is now worth 6.5 so sell on fee is only 5.5,with Champions League and Uefa Cup my other ‘marquee’ defenders Clichy,Brown,Lescott are always likely to get injured or rotated as a result of Europe.Stick with Laursen, hes a keeper
