New FPL Captain Poll
All quiet on the injury front so far today - no confirmed news as yet on Torres, Ronaldo or Cahill - so I’ve updated the FPL captain’s poll (scroll down the left menu) for the current gameweek. Could be interesting again this week, with just the merest threat of rest/rotation hanging over Ronaldo. It will be interesting to see how worried you lot are about that prospect and just who will get close to him.

It’s gotta be Berba at the mo but I’ll probably swap back to Ronny at the last mo!!!

Sorry to sound like a broken record and an unadventurous manager, but it’ll be Ronaldo for me unless his injury proves to be more than a niggle. On paper Lumpalard has the better fixture (and I don’t have Berby), but there’s just something freakish going on with Ron this year.

Did you captain him against Fulham as well?
Got me a whopping 2 points.

I did, Alex, but that was virtually his only blemish (well, Fergie’s). If he plays he’s the best choice and I think he’ll play after his nice little midweek rest.
God, I sound like his agent; I hate the little weasel, really.

Well, I thought for sure he’d start against Fulham. Sir Alex even aluded to it.
Meanwhile others captained Gerrard or Torres and I lost major ground. I don’t want to take that risk again. He might play, but it might also be for another 18 minutes in the second half. My main rival’s going for someone else for sure as he’s trying to catch up…
Even though it’s only by 5 points, they’re still leaders right now, so won’t SAF prioritize the Champions League?
Hate the prat too by the way, but he gets us so many points.

I haven’t gone through all the effort to keep Ronaldo out of the internationals just to rest him against Aston Villa.
Must dash, Rooney has asked me to pick his laundry up.

this issue looks cert to be this weeks hot topic. I have a really strong feeling that Ronnie will have a quiet weekend but what do I know! Will look at it closer towards end of the week. Defoe and Berbatov look good at the mo though!… but it is only Tuesday!

It’s gotta be Lamps. He’s had a quiet couple of weeks, (BTW, why didn’t he get an assist for Drog’s first goal??) but I can’t see him going a third week without bagging some points. Also, after getting out of jail against arsenal, Chelsea should be fired up to make a charge in the title race.

Had fingers burnt last week by not selecting Ronaldo as captain - whether he plays or not I do fancy Spurs to bag more goals against Newcastle than United will against Aston Villa.
With ground to make up in my mini-league and the leader always selecting Ronaldo I have to go with Berbatov for the second week running. Spurs have scored an average of 3+ goals in their home games this season, a fact that I can’t ignore especially with Newcastle as the opposition.
Interesting to see that Berbatov has just sneaked into the lead in the captain’s poll as well..

Interesting Captain Poll this week!
I think Berbatov is a good bet this week especially when Ron may not play a big role ahead of Roma game. (Any clues this week Mark?)
I’m seriously tempted to buy Berb but Ronnie has burnt me before!

Yeah, the problem with Ron (and SAF) is that there are several possible scenarios.
There’s the Newcastle scenario, where he’ll not play a full game but still bag a brace and an assist, then there’s the Fulham scenario where he comes on 20 minutes before the end and gets you 1 point.
Then there’s all kinds of combinations. He could start, but others like Tevez or Nani could get the goals, he’ll be taken off when SAF feels a win is in the bag and he’ll maybe get you about 5 points.
It’s anyone’s guess and that’s what makes it so extremely hard.
Despite the Roma game being on Tuesday already and being an away game, I still think Ron will start. The question is will he do enough before he gets subbed?

Big decisions this week for everyone then. One thing to bear in mind,Newcastle kept a clean sheet last week,I know it was another struggling side but still, confidence is high regardless in the geordie camp so by no means is it a dead cert that there will be a goal fest….at the same time spurs have been red hot in front of goal all year and Berb has done the business,I made my free sub in FPL and am level on points with the leader, just considered there taking Torres out for Berbatov for 4 point hit…..even more of a headache!any thoughts on the 4 point hit?

Stick Berba in, I’ve taken a 4pt hit for him (and another one for Defoe) and will probably captain him.
Torres has a harder set of fixtures coming up, and could be rested. you know what Rafa’s like (and I don’t just mean a David Brent lookalike)
I’ve also got the Yak, he stands a good chance of getting amongst the goals.

I think Rafa’s more of a Max from Phoenix Nights lookalike.

Considering transfering Hart for Green!what do you guys think? Hammers seem to have good run of games!!!

Hi people,
I too have a puzzler:
Currently have Tevez / Torres / Young upfront and I have made my free transfer. I have the cash to swap any one of them to Berbatov (taking 4pt hit) but do I do it?
I was planning to swap Torres for Berb if pool beat Everton (so have little to play for in the league) or swap Tevez if they loose and keep Young as villa have some easier games coming. Any thoughts?
On the captain front I would say lamps was a no go as borough are on the way back into form and are a bit of a bogey team for the blues. Villa always get panned by united but probably have enough to scare a good side out of united (so i think ronaldo will start).
Liked this comment BTW:
“…he’ll maybe get you about 5 points.”
So captain gets you double points and will probably get you 5 points???
[Reply]
well if pick ronaldo as captain and he comes on as a sub I will get burnt and if I don’t pick him as captain and he starts I will get burnt so I’m spoilt for choice!

Might it be worth captaining The Jackal this week, with all the uncertainty around some of the main players? He seems certain to play, is due a goal or two and is playing a team without a clean in, how many, 15(?) games.
