Rooney Set To Face Hammers

Alex Ferguson has indicated that Wayne Rooney will be fit to play a part in the weekend clash with West Ham, although he appears a little more cagey over the prospects of Nemanja Vidic being available.

Both missed last night’s victory over Barca but Ferguson has remarked that Rooney’s hip injury should repair in time for him to play a role against the Hammers.

“He will be a lot better in a few days and involved on Saturday somewhere along the line,” remarked the United boss.

Vidic meanwhile is still apparently under supervision of medical staff following the nasty clash with Drogba’s knee. If I recall, the conditions of a concussion related injury apparently force a player to sit out 7-days so he looks unlikely to make Saturday’s game.

  1. Thinking of taking Santa Cruz in this week but not sure which striker out of Berbatov, Adebayor, Defoe to get rid of. Who’d you reckon lads?

Bench Adebayor - unlikely to get a full game, if at all.

  2. Defoe.

    spidey sense
actually you must keep berb and ade b/c I have dropped them both.
    ergo sure goals for both.

  3. Who should I bench, Larsson or Petrov?

  4. Man City away to Liverpool with nothing to play for and a manager down and out - Birmingham play Fulham in a crunch match and fight for their survival! I’d bench Petrov mate

    Alright then.

Just thought ‘Pool would be a bit tired from tonight’s game and they don’t have much left to play for either. Or Rafa could field a B-team again, which would still be good for Man City.

Yeah that’s one way of looking at it… which could mean a boring 0-0.
The Birmingham game will be a desperate goal fest I reckon

    True.

I could of course play them both and bench Adebayor…like someone just said, he might just get half a game again and not do anything this time.

Barry for me. But Santa Cruz is tempting.

  6. Santa for me this week, need to catch up some points.

It’s gotta be Santa right? Why is there no poll this week. You not emptied those boxes yet Mark?

  7. Mark:
Any chance you might be posting your w’end picks earlier than usual tomorrow?
I have a mid-morning flight to Hawaii (North Shore surfing, brudda) and will be staying in a shack w/ little more than running water and some solar powered light bulbs. Yes, I know it sounds terrible.
Considering you are living out of boxes, I know it is a long shot, but just curious.

Particularly interested in your (and others’) thoughts of swapping Ade out for a CHE or MAN striker/MF or one of those fine strapping lads from Villa. Currently have Alves & Ade hitched to Santa’s sleigh. Do I dare give the underperforming Bulgarina another shot???

PS: Sure is quiet on the boards with Alex on the road…

Actually, I’m off in about an hour…so just in time to see you boasting about Hawaii. Be careful you won’t get a phantom surfing agent posting on your tail.
I was in Hawaii last year by the way. Incredible place, so good on you.

I’m keeping Ade, as I have the Yak to get rid of for the obvious Santa. Chelsea and ManU might be a bit tired from their Champions League run ins, maybe better to wait another gameweek.

Thanks, Alex (if it is really you).
I’m torn on the fatigue issue since, if these clowns can’t reach down deep with the PL title on the line, they are just a bunch of overpaid, overhyped, pansies. Could that be?
For me, the downside of dropping Ade would be that I would not be able to get him back for the match @ SUN. His price has skyrocketed since I bought him. Conversely, if he is rested extensively over the next 2 matches, I may not want him anyway.
Sorry it sounded like boasting. It’s just that this is an annual trip with the dudes that is absolutely a ripper.
Happy trails to the Jolly Old Country. Perhaps an elicit tryst w/ puffin in the cards?

Well, Van Persie’s been ruled out of the Everton match, so you might wanna hang on to Ade.

Boast all you want…I did it, but of course got bombarded with posts from the Psycho Dream Team, so it was just a warning.

Yes, puff and I shall have to meet up to discuss the board game schedule at the reception. We have some tough decisions to make…hard to choose between dried beef sticks and good old fashioned cheese puffs.

Hmm. Just concerned that The Squirrel “Kisser” will want to run out his youngin’s and put Ade in storage for next season. Nothing to play for these last 2 matches.

What about this option: Defoe in for Ade; would allow midfield to include Bently or Barry?

Re: beef sticks vs. cheese puffs: why not both??? Live a little. You only get married once (or twice, thrice?)

    Have a great time.
You’re bound to find Berbatov on a beach in Hawaii together with the lads from West Ham!

    Thanks, Moz:
Do I understand this to mean you think Berb is unlikely to factor in TOT’s run-out of the season? Or just that RED are @ home and fighting relegation?

All comers are welcome at the North Shore outpost, although the testy Bulgarina will need to check his negative ‘tude and hair oil at the door.

Any thoughts on the Ade conundrum?

  8. I’m in the same quandry as you guys. I have berb, Ade & Agbonglahor. Want to bring in santa cruz, but which one to sell? This means something to me now, as by picking players from Derby opponents over the last few weeks I’m 8 points off 3rd and winning some cash.

Who for Captain this week? Fabs, Ade, or Ronaldo? Surely Ronaldos due some goals this week?

I’m tempted to make Santa Cruz capt.

  9. This is the team I’m putting out this gameweek

    Al-Habsi
    Bikey - Bouma - Geremi
    Ronaldo - Lampard (c) - Fabregas - Bently
Adebayor - Benjani - Santa Cruz

Subs. Hart - Johnson - Jaidi - Jaglielka

How you folks feel about my selection for the penultimate gameweek. I’m now 75 adrift of my closest adversary…. I made 1 transaction already by shoo’ing J Cole for Lampard but by doing so hav nowt a la banque

    Any thoughts mon way?
