Cech In For Baggies
West Brom have signed Slovakia international Marek Cech from Porto in a £1.4million deal.
Although a West Brom signing wouldn’t normally hit the headlines for fantasy managers, Cech is a 6ft 1in defender and is a left-back, although he can also be employed in midfield. He will therefore replace Martin Albrechtsen who has departed for Derby and provide competition for Paul Robinson for the left-back slot.
Robinson, to this point, is the most popular West Brom defender in terms of fantasy signings, certainly in the FPL game where 2% of managers have drafted him in. Cech’s arrival could put Robinson’s starting role in doubt so this situation will be worth monitoring for those looking to cash in on a budget West Brom defender.
Cech has joined the Baggies for their pre-season tour of Germany. They kick things off against Borussia Moenchengladbach tomorrow evening.

What is the expected back four for West Brom? infact anyone with any tips on 4.0m defenders?

I’ve gone for Ricketts from Hull. I think he played in almost every game last season so he should be a cert to start (assuming they don’t get a couple of flash new centre backs in).
Complements on the story title Mark. I’m shorey Yer Dad will be impressed.

Cech in for Baggies is the best bit of punupmanship yet, just pipping Let’s Be Arshavin You. You weren’t kidding when you admitted to being a journo - the super soaraway Sun would pay handsomely for that one.

I’ve gone for Hoefkens at WBA for 4m. He was a rock for them last season. Rickets is a great player but I reckon Hull are going to get hammered, they’ll be the whipping boys of the prem next season (although I hope I’m wrong).
Easyjet are now charging extra to Cech in for Baggies I heard, bloomin rip off.

Van Persie actually injured? Mark has him down as injured but there’s no indication of this on the fpl.

And you take FPL to be a good indication of injuries? Come on be serious

lol good point. Just wondering if Mark has him down as injured or just injury prone.

I don’t think he’s injured, he played a fair bit during the Euro’s. He’s probably still on holiday atm so will have to wait for a couple Arsenal pre seasons before we know.
