Bosingwa Out For Weeks

Chelsea’s José Bosingwa is to be sidelined for at least 3 weeks according to a club statement.

The new signing pulled up early on in the friendly against Guangzhou on Wednesday with what appeared to be a muscle injury. A scan on Friday has now revealed the injury as a small tear in the thigh muscle.

Bosingwa returned to the UK today to continue his recovery with the club stating that they “hoped he could be back in action in three weeks”.

Chelsea are due to take on Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday with Paulo Ferreira now favourite to start at right-back. Indeed he looks to be in the box seat for the role for Chelsea’s openers against Portsmouth and Wigan when the season kicks-off.

  1. Sad news for him, now that he will not be match fit for the opening fixture. Now I will have to sell him from my team but because adding to that Chelsea have got relatively tough fixtures with pompey and spurs in the coming month so dont you think it would be better to take our eyes off chelsea defenders for now Mark?

  2. Anyone considered Darren Bent? If Keane moves to Liverpool, surely this paves the way for a regular first team spot? If so, looks a snip at £7.5m

Dos Santos can play up front as well, but I think Bent is a good option if he starts.

One too many stars there dadon. You’ll find most comments on subjects don’t relate to the main content, though most people can deal with it in an accomodating and respectful manner. My suggestion to you, if you can’t behave, is to firstly, apologise for your unnecessary outburst, then, if you must stay, keep your comments to yourself and read from afar the great insight and advice this site offers and fantastic community spirit in which it is offered.

Nicely put, Verbal. This site’s in danger of becoming a victim of its own success by attracting ignorant and illiterate pondlife.

Hey Dadon, there are plenty of other football related sites out there which thrive on users mindlessly hurling abuse at each other. I suggest you go find one and spread your negativity there as you certainly aren’t wanted here.

  8. Shame about one person’s ill-considered outbursts; anyway onto more important topics of discussion - Boswinga. That’ll enforce 1 change to my team already (which comes as no surprise since I picked it at the beginning of July!).

The worry would now be is how injury-free will he stay after he recovers from this injury, given the physicality in the Premiership. He is too good a player to write-off just yet even though he must prove himelf in the Premiership - but once I saw the news it just started the alarm bells ringing…

I have to say that I may revert to Carvalho - removable from the team prior to Champions League clashes but Chelsea were unbeaten in the 21 games he played for them last season.

  9. ive also switched to Carvalho Leighton, was keen on Terry this season but for that 1mil cheaper have to say he looks good! Rate him better than Terry anyways and with Scolari at the helm you’ve gotta think Carvalho will be an ever present in the side! Ive also put Lampard in, i think he’s gonna have a big season regardless of all this transfer speculation, hes lookin fit and sharp and i reckon if he stays fit might be the midfielder to have other than Fab and Ronaldo being out for 3 months…only 4% have him interesting!

I had carvalho in my team ahead of bosingwa before he got injured for much the same reasons. Plus I have a rule that I never pick players who are new to the prem at the start of the season (though Modric does look tempting)

Carvalho is a good shout, but why not Ferreira? he’s the same price as Boswinga and surely due to start in his absence, and provide the same attacking threat.

  10. Out of these 3 who would any of you pick;Johnson(MCY); Osman (EVE); Taylor (BOL) only have 6 mil for a midfielder and i reckon these are the best options with opening games in mind, thoughts please….??

I think Taylor will get the most from those three, as Bolton have the easieat opening fixtures, and he will take all the set-peices.

I need a 7.5m midfielder, don’t know who. Who is best from:
    Downing, Pedersen, Petrov, Kranjcar, Arteta

    [Reply]

  11. Pedersen if Bentley leaves.

  12. All good players Ollie and should all produce the goods this season.

    * Downing looks likely to be the set piece taker and perhaps penalty taker for Boro (if he stays)?
    * Pedersen is in good pre season form and as it’s been said on here quite alot, if bentley goes then he will be the main man and hopefully he’ll be back in the form of 2 seasons ago when he finised in the top 5 of midfielders.
    * Petrov looked lively yesterday against Hamburg and should be consistant with goals, assists and bonus points.
    * Kranjcar could be a great buy, he’s only £6.5m and takes all the set pieces and with Crouch now in the side he could be getting alot of his assists and of course will be scoring goals.
    * Arteta will always be good value when fit, He takes all he set pieces, penalties and when he’s on song so are everton. He always gets bonus points and when Cahill’s out he raises his game.

To be honest Ollie, why not go for all 5 in your midfeild and then splash out on your strike force?? I may have to look in to that myself!!

I don’t know? At the moment I have:

    Schwarzer, Howard
    Clichy, Laursen, Jagielka, Upson, Cahill
    Pedersen, Fabregas, Young, M.Taylor, Noble
    Torres, Yakubu, Kitson

    [Reply]

  13. Not a bad team at the moment Ollie. Upson should keep a few clean sheets in the opening games, but I think Laursen could struggle to copy last years form, especially with Mellberg going and with Bouma out for a few months. Although now Friedels there he may held with the clean sheets.

    My team at present is:

    Reina (Schwarzer)
    Carvalho Gallas Hutton Ferriera (paintsil)
Fabregas Lampard Pedersen (De Ridder, Geovanni)
    Ashton Van Persie Crouch

No Man Utd players because there too expensive and I havent a clue who will be playing where??

  14. Quick question… Apaprantly Damien Duff is on fire for Newcastle at the mo. Would be worth a punt?

Don’t think he will play much at all, but is linked with a move back to Blackburn. He has never done well at Newcastle, but scored a hatrick in a friendly last week.

  15. Why would you get rid of Bosingwa he may only miss one game. On most fantasy leagues I am in, he is a great value and you cant replace him with anyone near his ability.

  16. Is Dawson going to be a regular for spurs this season?

    [Reply]

Depends the fitness of King and Woodgate - given their records I would say that Dawson will get at least 20 games. Dawson took a knock tonight by the looks of things - was subbed on 23 minutes. Still trying to get to bottom of that one.
