Pavlyuchenko Arrives At The Lane
Tottenham have confirmed the transfer of Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £12 million.
Pavlyuchenko had a hugely impressive Euro 2008 for Russia and arrives at Spurs with a record of 77 goals in 147 games for Spartak. Clearly Tottenham have themselves a very decent player and we’ll need to keep an eye on his value once he arrives across the fantasy games.
His arrival does of course make the transfer of Berbatov to United all the more inevitable. Indeed, the next 48 hours are likely to see a number of big moves and, with a international break, we’ll have a dangerous amount of time to ponder changes to our fantasy lineups as a result of the major transfers that take place.

if he is 7.5 or below i will get him, bents points return have lacked and im losing value on the player. BY the way shouldnt ronaldo’s value be dropping he hasnt played a single game and usulayy whne a player is injured like he is the players value drops .

7.5? He’ll be at least 9.5, or Steve McClaren’s a Dutchman!
Ronaldo is supposedly (according to the brains at FISO) 93% of the way to a 0.1M drop. Being injured actually makes it harder to drop than if a player is just playing badly. Also, it’s all about transfers out, and I’m thinking that not too many managers had the Portuguese winker to begin with.

I’m gonna get him. Santa Cruz is injured now, and he seems a great replacement. I think he’ll get a lot of goals.

Nevermind him. It’s all about the Zaki.
Just put a few quid on him being top scorer for the season. Worth it at 40-1!

Luckily, with the international break, he should get the chance to recover. I hope for your sake that Wenger doesn’t pipe up with news that his injury is “minor” that normally leads to a 10-week absence.

If there is any doubt, I’m shipping him. Lost alot of ground last year with his injuries.
I think the worst case was when he scored in the 1st half against Derby, and then had to be subbed for Adebayor, who scored a second-half hattrick. It was at a point where almost everyone in my league had adebayor as captain.

3 - RVP 8.73
2 - Nasri 7.66
1 - Fab 7.6
I think Nasri and Clichy should get extra bonus points. Nasri for delibrately tripping Barton, and Clichy for megging him.

I can’t frigging believe this. Yakubu misses a pen, Santa Cruz wimps off, Downing misses a pen, in a fit of despair this morning I sub Johnson who scores and keeps a clean sheet at Everton and switch James out too. My only comfort is having Zaki up front (I knew I shouldn’t be playing with three strikers).
If the Chelsea and Villa results don’t go ridiculously well for me tomorrow I might actually cry.

Week-to-week scores are always a bit of gamble; it’s the season score that’s the true indicator of a manager’s talent. And I’d love to meet the person who predicted a Roque injury, and Downing and Yakubu penalty misses…
Case-in-point: The leader of my 80+ member mini-league is 17 points clear already, but he currently has Van der Sar and Schwarzer, another United defender and a couple of injured players. He’s had a 2 brilliant weeks, but is quite clearly not gonna be top of the pile come the end of the season.
The moral? No-one has 38 perfect gameweeks!

Reply by Mark on August 30 6:51 pm:
The picks aren’t doing too well so far but it has been difficult. Today could have been so different had Downing and Yakubu scored the pens. I can’t believe Gallas missed that chance early on for Arsenal either. Also I would point out that if you read through the scout picks then Zaki, Valencia and Roberts got mentions and all scored today. Traore was also on the bench and got a clean sheet along with Gallas and Gardner so far. So really, it’s not that bad.
Santa Cruz? As seven foot says, nobody could see that coming although that’s the second pick following Matt Taylor, that’s suffered an injury after being in the picks. Maybe there’s some kind of curse brewing.
Like every week (and like every fantasy manager) I get some things wrong, some things right. As I keep mentioning every week, mine is just another opinion amongst hundreds here - I’m no more of an expert than the next man. I second that Mark, excellent work so far. In fantasy football its at best 50% intelligence/skill and 50% luck. all your scout picks made sense with very sound reasoning as they do every week per your weekly scout picks/predictions post (which is an essential reading prior to my weekly transfers) its just the luck of the draw - as you said missed pen’s and injuries are just severe bad luck, you just cant predict things like that. its up to the individual manager to take responsability for their own team picks and not blame anyone else
luckily for me i went with zaki over lampard for capitan and had a stormer but boy have i had some serious bad fortune over the last season. But thats fantasy football for you…

My team before this weeks scout picks was
james
johnson wheater lescott laursen scharner
downing lamps young barry
yakubu santa cruz
im sure you can understand me being mad with myself when i switched to
cech
lescott laursen wheater
barry young lamps downing
yak santa cruz zaki
No one to blame but myself but as it stands over 50% of this weeks points have come from zaki (who i wouldn’t have picked up on if it hadn’t been for this site).
So do me a favour and take it easy on the ‘pick your own team stuff’.

It was a painful week for you but the moves you made looked sensible, that’s what makes this game so infuriating but addictive at the same time. Your midfield could do the business for you tomorrow though.

I’m generally pretty happy with my team and I currently only have Cahill and Santa Cruz who will not make the next gameweek, with a decent bench to cover them anyway. But, I’m thinking about hitting the wildcard button tonight to use the international break to trade my way to a more valueable team. My team will probably end up 80% the same as it is now at the end of the transfer window. The way I see it, this is the most valueable use of the wildcard. I reckon the later you leave it in the season, the less value the waynecard has.
How much value do people reckon it’s possible to add to your team in this 1 extended gameweek with the use of the FISO site?

Doing the exact same thing mate. I think by transferring out a few players this game week and bringing in the players set for a rise ie zaki, fabs, defoe you can earn a few quid but I am doubting how much exactly.
I’m thinking i would be extremely happy with 0.6/7 profit depending on the market. It will also take a fair amount of time and effort to make the right moves.
Used the wild card early last year too and thought it was a bad move initially but after thinking about it there is little value saving it unless you get some really bad luck and even then as long as you have a decent bench you should be covered.

The only thing that’s making me have second thoughts b4 I hit the button is that most of the obvious targets, Defoe/RVP/Johnson/Cole/James have already lost £0.1m in value (I already owned Zaki). Am I right in thinking this means that the have to overcome their negative NTI before they can start to rise in price? If so, a £0.2m move up in value in 1 week seems unlikely.

i see your point… maybe i havent thought this through!!! Its my understanding that yeah the negative values have to be caught up… but look at the increase in deco over the last few weeks the amount of transfers in has been amazing then take into account a good performance in the internationals could cause some fluctuations. I think zaki will def go up by .2 by the next game week as will johnson and possibly james.
The reasons i chose to go ahead are: the 2 week break meaning longer time to make a profit, end of transfer window, current team situation(have cahill, m taylor, jagielka, osman who i want to get rid of), the fact that more people are playing and therefore more transfers being made.
I have re evaluated my possible profit to maybe .5… i should also re-evaluate my lifestyle as it is now 23:57 on a saturday night and i’m trying to be a football del boy

There’s been a few sucker punches delivered already this weekend and I am another to salute Yaki who has spared my blushes after drafting in Yakubu and Santa Cruz with my wildcard.
All I can say is come on Lampard with the captain’s armband - if Lampard misses a penalty today and Bent scores a goal I may give up this wonderful Fantasy game…
Just watched the Everton v Pompey game on MOTD this morning - Defoe’s “hatrick” will see a mad rush in the transfer market and he was in my team for long spells last season when Pompey suffered a goal drought. The question is which Pompey team will turn up next time….Boro will offer sterner resistence but not keeping a cleansheet against a 10 man Stoke team was very slack.
Very disappointed by the Toffees defence today, particularly LeScott - he look leaden-footed - and they couldn’t cope with Defoe’s turns and runs in and around the box.

Is there an argument for using the wild card tonight?
I read that you can have unlimited transfers over the next 2 weeks if you use the wildcard, and seeing as there will be a lot of transfer activity, will this be a chance to make a bit of money?
Following those who are likely to rise and fall, do you think you can make about 0.5m in wildcard dealings over the next couple of weeks?

I think the Villa vs Liverpool one is one to leave well alone, will be so tight and full of bookings. Great opportunity for Arbeloa to keep his 100% booking record in the league this season. I left in young on the off chance, but only coz im doing the telegraph and didnt want to waste transfers. But Torres and Arbeloa went in place of clichy and alves

Don’t like to use my wildcard so early in the season but i went from 100,000+ in to the top 5,000, after today i’ll probably drop some places but at least i’m not languishing down the league.

anyone who uses there wild card now is mad - it should be saved until there is a big double game week, when you get double points and your captain scoring twice

Dilemma; either Torres, Downing and Arteta, or Yakubu, Fabregas and Deco? I don’t want to ditch Downing just because he missed a pen (although he got me a classy 0 points as Captain) but I think maybe bulking up my midfield will be worth it? Can Torres justify a 12 mil price tag? (or even Yakubu, Lampard, Downing) I rate Lampard higher for the whole season

I hope that laursen will score for villa today. Liverpool have’nt looked the best at the back and aston villa cause a big threat at set pieces so I fancy villa to score at least two with their quality in midfield and height at set pieces.

How do you find who was awarded the bonus points? Read the match report for the Bolton game and they had Jaaskalainen as the fantasy player pick yet no bonus points awarded (yet)!
