Pavlyuchenko Arrives At The Lane

by Mark on August 30

Tottenham have confirmed the transfer of Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £12 million.

Pavlyuchenko had a hugely impressive Euro 2008 for Russia and arrives at Spurs with a record of 77 goals in 147 games for Spartak. Clearly Tottenham have themselves a very decent player and we’ll need to keep an eye on his value once he arrives across the fantasy games.

His arrival does of course make the transfer of Berbatov to United all the more inevitable. Indeed, the next 48 hours are likely to see a number of big moves and, with a international break, we’ll have a dangerous amount of time to ponder changes to our fantasy lineups as a result of the major transfers that take place.

There’s been a few sucker punches delivered already this weekend and I am another to salute Yaki who has spared my blushes after drafting in Yakubu and Santa Cruz with my wildcard.

All I can say is come on Lampard with the captain’s armband – if Lampard misses a penalty today and Bent scores a goal I may give up this wonderful Fantasy game…

Just watched the Everton v Pompey game on MOTD this morning – Defoe’s “hatrick” will see a mad rush in the transfer market and he was in my team for long spells last season when Pompey suffered a goal drought. The question is which Pompey team will turn up next time….Boro will offer sterner resistence but not keeping a cleansheet against a 10 man Stoke team was very slack.

Very disappointed by the Toffees defence today, particularly LeScott – he look leaden-footed – and they couldn’t cope with Defoe’s turns and runs in and around the box.

Lampard didnt miss a penalty, but bent scored, i’d half consider giving up.

My captain choices have MEGA let me down so far… Adebayor the first two weeks… And when I thought it couldnt get any worse i switched to Downing :( Grand total of 8pts in three games from my captains…

Exactly the same choices as me. Feel your pain. I guess it can only get better.

What are the chances of ashley young scoring today and getting some bonus points.

Leighton August 31 at 9:30 am

Very good Kammy, considering I transferred him out this week for Arteta. Liverpool may not perform with Gerrard but they have won two without getting out of first gear; I fancy 2-1 to Pool even without Gerrard. Villa can score but in the same vein will readily concede; gotta feeling Keane will contribute something today on the day that his former side may take a pounding at the Bridge…

Is there an argument for using the wild card tonight?

I read that you can have unlimited transfers over the next 2 weeks if you use the wildcard, and seeing as there will be a lot of transfer activity, will this be a chance to make a bit of money?
Following those who are likely to rise and fall, do you think you can make about 0.5m in wildcard dealings over the next couple of weeks?

I think the Villa vs Liverpool one is one to leave well alone, will be so tight and full of bookings. Great opportunity for Arbeloa to keep his 100% booking record in the league this season. I left in young on the off chance, but only coz im doing the telegraph and didnt want to waste transfers. But Torres and Arbeloa went in place of clichy and alves

Used my wildcard this week as i had 6 players out, it paid dividends as i bought in James, Clichy & Zaki(captain). Don’t like to use my wildcard so early in the season but i went from 100,000+ in to the top 5,000, after today i’ll probably drop some places but at least i’m not languishing down the league.

D BROWN August 31 at 11:05 am

anyone who uses there wild card now is mad – it should be saved until there is a big double game week, when you get double points and your captain scoring twice

rafas_reject August 31 at 11:18 am

when is it mate?

muppet August 31 at 11:21 am

Dilemma; either Torres, Downing and Arteta, or Yakubu, Fabregas and Deco? I don’t want to ditch Downing just because he missed a pen (although he got me a classy 0 points as Captain) but I think maybe bulking up my midfield will be worth it? Can Torres justify a 12 mil price tag? (or even Yakubu, Lampard, Downing) I rate Lampard higher for the whole season

I hope that laursen will score for villa today. Liverpool have’nt looked the best at the back and aston villa cause a big threat at set pieces so I fancy villa to score at least two with their quality in midfield and height at set pieces.

How do you find who was awarded the bonus points? Read the match report for the Bolton game and they had Jaaskalainen as the fantasy player pick yet no bonus points awarded (yet)!

Gareth Bale is coming off my subs bench next week and smacking in tottenham’s 2nd goal of the season, honest!
….oops make that 3rd goal of season, bent has just scored – he’s on my bench to damnit

Brad © September 1 at 3:58 am

Bale looks promising but seriously, what the f is with his haircut?

Al September 2 at 11:45 am

Ha ha! He’s in a competition with Bentley to see who has the most ridiculous barnet in the dressing room methinks.
