United Clash “Too Soon” According To Gerrard
Steven Gerrard has reportedly informed Rafa that he is unlikely to be available for next weekend’s big clash with United at Anfield.
The Liverpool skipper went under the knife for a groin injury just over a week ago and would have had just 15 days rest by the time the Anfield fixture arrives. That is apparently not long enough a recovery time according to Gerrard.
“That’s a bit too soon,” he remarked on the subject of a return against United. “I’ve a decent chance for the Champions League game in Marseille. I’ve spoken to the manager and told him I’d like to do a certain amount of training before I come back. I don’t want to go into a big game only having had one session with the boys.”
Liverpool are also set to be without Fernando Torres this weekend - he is still struggling with a hamstring injury. What price a United clean sheet then?

It is better to rest Gerrard as we don’t want him injured for forth-coming matches afterwards. He should be fully fit and healed first! They should play El Zar instead!

Ok, here’s a tricky one
Reina in goal at home to Man Utd - I feel Liverpool will be happy with a draw as they are missing the two most potent goalscorers
Or
Schwarzer at home vs Bolton.
I’m tempted to go with the latter. What do you think, guys?

I have a similar tricky one… Reina V Man U OR Jaaskelainan V Fulham. Both look like 0-0 but I kinda fancy Zamora to pop one in V Bolton. It really is a dilemma!

I’d get Reina out, United’ll score at least 3! lol, no, I can see it being 0-0, especially with Liverpool knowing they’ll struggle to score without Gerrard and Torres. Plus, I have a feeling Berbatov won’t play (might get 20-30mins), so expect United to lack firepower also.
This is usually the game I look forward to the most, but with both teams going to struggle to score, and with it being too early in the season to mean anything, I think both teams will settle for the draw (although neither will tell you this).

Schwarzer is safer as Bolton have not scored recently!

hmm, there’s no right and no wrong really but I’d go with Reina.. I think Liverpool will look to pretty much shut up shop and man.utd(probably without berbatov for most the game) will likely lack firepower against a resiliant defence.

This fixture is very tight at the best of times - Liverpool haven’t scored in the last 4 League meetings with United at Anfield and on three occasions United have won 1-0; both Tevez and Rooney have previous form in this fixture so a crystal ball might not be needed to predict this game after all….

Is there a particular reason that people are saying they dont think berbatov will start or is it just speculation?

Given the combined absence of Torres & Gerrard I’m tempted to ship out Santa Cruz and get Berbatov in - I don’t see any reason why Fergie wouldn’t rub Liverpool’s noses in it by going 4-3-3 with a tasty front- line of Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov; but I still think goals will be at a premium…

deco and fabregas or ronaldo and denilson??

I’m confident berbatov will get nothing against united and chelsea who have the two best defences in the league, happy to be proved wrong though!

You’d have thought United bought him to score against the opposition and not his own team…

I dunno Verbal, you can’t count on anything with Berba-sulk, maybe it’ll be a ploy to force a January transfer to Real Madrid! It’s all so clear now…

what a boring weekend without the premiership…cant stand these internationals anymore!

I would agree except for the fact that Australia arsed their way to a win over the Dutch. Very comforting for an otherwise football free weekend. Fingers crossed for their world cup qualifier against Uzbekistan during the week in the lovely Tashkent. Hmm…

Brad (Or Al) - love the fact that you’ve got your gravatar to link to your FPL team. How do you embed the link in your gravatar? Cheers Steve

1). You can’t get the correct link just by viewing your team via the FPL ‘My team’ or ‘Latest points’ pages. Navigate to one of your leagues (e.g. FantasyFootballScout) and click on your team’s name in the standings list. The page that appears is a version of your current lineup but should have a unique URL (i.e. stuff like eventhist.mc?id=1657 at on the end).
2). If so, copy this URL and then paste it into the ‘Website’ field which makes up part of the form you use to post a comment on this site.
Let me know if you have any troubles…

Good Lord, you’re right, you aren’t doing too well are you, but you do seem to give good advice, i blame the limit on the number of transfers, if i could change my team for every match i’d get loads of points.
