Gabby Doubt Sets Up Milner

Villa’s Gabby Agbonlahor is a doubt for Villa’s clash with Portsmouth at the weekend after sustaining a hamstring injury in last night’s England U21 match with Wales.

The Villa striker was replaced at half-time as Stuart Pearce’s side hung on to a 2-2 draw to win their tie on aggregate. Agbonlahor will doubtless be assessed before the Portsmouth game and should he fail to make it, then Milner would be the hot favourite to step in. The former Newcastle man has been waiting for his opportunity for a start and O’Neill is likely to reward his patience.

Milner is classed as a midfielder across the games and could certainly be worth a short-term punt once the extent of Agbonlahor’s injury is confirmed.

    Well done what???

  2. Gabby Agbonlahor, not many people have him anyway; most prefer Carew(cheaper) or Young (striker in midfield). I need to look more what Miller can offer AV and FPL points (as CK would say). I’m expecting quite a few goals either way in the Newcastle v A Villa game. Not too happy with AV defense this season!

  3. doubts over two of my strikers now - brilliant! im glad i held back my free transfer so if worst comes to worst i can get rid of gabby! possible subs are carew or jo, who is the best bet?!

    [Reply]

  4. Would this see Young playing up front with Carew and Milner shifted into his place?

    [Reply]

    I would imagine Villa to play a 451 with both Young and Milner supporting Carew.

    hopefully…although he might opt for Harewood instead of Milner?

    MON has so many options its tough to rely on anyone in the Villa midfield.

    MON will prob go out with a 4-3-3 formation,

    petrov, barry, reo coker,

    then milner young on the wings and john carew upfront.

    so 4-5-1 / 4-3-3.

    harewood will only play when carew is injured

    interesting to see if davies starts of cueller

  6. against pompey i recon harewood would play as carew against distin and campbell seems a bit of a mismatch!

    [Reply]

    Carew against Distin/Campbell a mismatch?
    Has Carew lost 6 inches and 50lbs in weight over the international break or something??

    Of course he’ll play.

    In Shower’s defence- he may have meant a mismatch numerically- two defenders against one up top?

    Hilarious though your picture is Trevor, can you change it as I’m trying to read this subtly at work! Not a great shade of pink for subtle net viewing!

    thats my point, i cant imagine carew up against the pompey defence. im a massive fan of young and milner is very good too but i cant imagine them getting to enough knock downs or lay offs from the big man. i think they will need two up top at the weekend!

    I’ve changed it to a lovely blue and yellow now. I think it takes around 24 hours for it upload though.

  7. Re the Agger vs Hyypia debate. Agger is back at Liverpool training as Denmark don’t have a qualifier tonight. Finland do.If sami plays,I can’t see Rafa playing him on Saturday as that would be 3 games in a week and would probably kill the likeable Finn.

    Perhaps the only thing to sway your thought proccess there is that there is a champs league game the following Wednesday after this saturdays game v wigan… Hyppia is not even in the team for that, may be a chance Agger might be rested in anticipation for that, as well as hyppia’s physical presence to combat wigans play. However, Rafa may well give Agger 90 minutes so he can gel with the back 4 coming into a vital away leg….

    who knows with rafa

    Why would Agger need a rest? What has he been doing so far this season that could be classed as strenuous?

  8. Any Bolton fans know if Gavin McCan is going to get a run in the side now?? With Kim injured i am needing a new bench warmer who plays every week. Ashbee is the other option at Hull but is a bit of a card magnet…

  9. What do people think to Duff? It was rumoured that Kinnear’s half-time talk one match was “give the ball to Duff”. Can see them scoring against City and he’s their most creative outlet… at 5.8m too.

    Wouldn’t be surprised to see City concede a penalty in that game, so Owen would offer a slim chance of reaping most of the Toon’s fantasy points rather than Duff. However, with all of City’s attacking talent it looks nailed on that they will win by at least a couple of goals….

    [Reply]

    Gravatar

    haha wow - predicting a penalty is a big call!

    I bet the ball goes into the 3rd of the Kop at Anfield this weekend. Somewhere close to seat 30…

    I hope they win tonight and get through to the world cup. It was really disappointing seeing the other foreign countries playing this summer and no British teams.

  12. FRAN, I think if u start giving advices to Fabio Capello, then there is a VERY BIG risk that England does not qualify for World Cup!! So, SHUT UP PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ……

  13. Those internationals threw me right off:

    Have gone with:

    Green;
    Evra, Boswinga, Sagna;
    Fabergas, Ronny (c), Noble, SWP;
    Zaki; Robinho; Zamora

    Worried about having 2 West Ham but im counting on SWP & Robinho coming up with the goods against Newcastle

    [Reply]

  14. Green, Sagna and zaki are all doubts for this week-end..

  15. Hey Mark,
    Just wanted to thankyou for the advice i got off this website at the start of the year. I am currently in the top ten of my country, the top ten of my club and on the overall leaderboard aswell as being miles ahead in my own league. You truely are “the man”

  17. Would I be able to trouble anyone with the once-over on my team?

    Reina - Schwarzer

    Evra - Bosingwa - Traore - Figueroa - Paintsil

    Ronaldo - Young - Arteta - SWP - Marney

    Berbatov - Defoe - Zaki

    Unfortunately, there is nada in the bank. My thoughts are that Paintsil is the weak link, and could do with squezzing 0.3 from somewhere to get Garrido on board.

    Much obliged;

    lol, woah ddj, I read the first line and thought ‘I’ll take a look’

    my team:

    Cech - Schwarzer

    Alex - Bosingwa - Traore - Figueroa - Paintsil

    Ronaldo - Young - Arteta - SWP - Marney

    Berbatov - Defoe - Zaki

    I have 1.3 in the bank, so i can upgrade Alex and (like you say) Paintsil to Garrido. But as you’d expect, I think your team is pretty damn good! ;)

    Evra for Agger gets you the extra money if you can’t find another way.

  19. Hi all,

    Need to shore up my back line and would really appreciate some help.

    Currently have:

    alex - laursen - clichy (figueroa, barnett) + 0.4m in the bank (GK Kirkland/Schwarzer).

    Looking at:

    clichy & alex OUT

    2 of: agger/neville/brown/bosingwa/evra IN

    Trying to bring in players who I’m going to able to stick with for at least 4-5 weeks.

    Any ideas?
