Injury Boost For Wenger
Arsene Wenger has received a lovely slice of injury news ahead of the weekend, revealing that both Gallas and Toure will be fit to return for the trip to Upton Park. Meanwhile, he also brought us an update on Sagna and Eduardo, who is apparently in line for an unlikely return to competitive action next month….
So Arsenal’s defence will be back to almost full strength against West Ham. Toure has recovered from a shoulder ligament injury and skipper Gallas is back from a hamstring injury. Both are likely to slot straight back into the side with Silvestre set to drop to the bench, while Song will either switch to right back or join a whole list of players competing for a midfield start. More on that in a bit.
Wenger also revealed that Sagna was close to a return but would have to wait for the local Derby with Spurs on Wednesday for his comeback.
As for Eduardo, remarkably he is “three weeks away from playing competitive football” according to Wenger. If that’s the case then we can expect to see him back in first team reckoning by mid December at the latest. That will clearly put stress on the starting role of Van Persie and render Bendtner even more of a peripheral figure, used only to rest Adebayor on the odd occasion.
As for the Arsenal midifeld; that’s really beginning to pile up with options for the Arsenal boss. Song will likely come into the reckoning for a start in the central role while the likes of Eboue, Nasri, Walcott, Diaby and maybe Denilson, will compete for two starting roles out wide. That’s potential rotation hell for fantasy managers.

brilliant news as an arsenal fan and gallas owner (still shipping him out next week for agger though!)

does this mean I should bench cCole?
[Reply]
What on earth does this have to do with Cole???

Maybe Arsenal will be better defensively if Gallas/Toure are back and cCole will have less chance of points? Personally I’d still play Cole.

arsenal vs westham this weekend

Sorry Louie, being very slow today…depends on who you’d play instead of him, altho I don’t think them playing will make a vast amount of difference whether Cole is amongst the points or not.

Arsenal clean sheet against West Ham anyone?

Reply by Kenncam on October 23 7:19 pm:
How many clean sheets have they had so far away? Was it just the Blackburn game?
[Reply]
yeh i think so , should be able to hold out C.Cole and crew.
[Reply]
have you been watching Arsenal defend lately?
[Reply]
Still have Adebayor, last week for him to shine for me at that price tag. Dont see Arsenal keeping a clean sheet. Dont see many clean sheets this weekend to boot. Surprisingly maybe Chelsea v Liverpool provides the best chance of a clean sheet with it being so tight…..

Here’s hoping he replicates that feat this weekend. I also noticed Traore was taken off after 62 minutes. Injury?

Doubt it. Harry was probably chasing the game after going 2-0 down. Interesting to see Hreidderson start the game at left back with Belhadj replacing him at half time. I’m sure Mark will have the notes on it all.

oh my god are you joking me?! Hey Fran would you be interested in someone constantly writing long stupid posts. I’m not that’s why I dont read yours

Laursen scored. Why does he not do that in the EPL?

Did anyone see what position Barry was playing during the game with Ajax?
[Reply]
Reply by Steve on October 23 11:28 pm:
looked like his usual mf position, didn’t see much of the 1st half but he scored just before the break. 2nd half Ajax pushed to get the equaliser so Barry didn’t get forward too much. I thought Celluar looked pretty good, he dealt with anything in the air comfortably.

What do you guys think of cashing in on Laursen and getting Agger?
[Reply]
Reply by Billybigspuds on October 23 9:45 pm:
Not this week, maybe next.
I’ve been considering it myself but just think he’s bound to score in the epl at some point. He’s also a bonus magnet.
However, Agger’s always good for a goal??

When will the FPL guys change gallas’ status from injured? I want to select him for my team but I can’t…
[Reply]
is agger worth it lads looked fairly doge last few games?

Reply by higgo on October 23 10:25 pm:
i think he needs to get a few games and then he’ll have the confidence he seems to be lacking. hes not doing himself any favours in rafas eyes i’d say at moment

Agger would have the highest points potential of the Liverpool defenders. I remember him scoring a sweet goal against Chelsea .. and he’s a penalty taker for his country.

Reply by Steve on October 23 11:30 pm:
surely he won’t get much of a look in on pens and free kicks tho, with the rest of the liverpool team and gerrard in particular ahead of him to take them?

Armand Traore hurt. Anyone with news on his injury?
[Reply]
Terrible news for me I finally shipped Silvestre into my side for Lescott.

why did you have LeScott in the 1st place.
And why would you transfer him for Silvestre.
the terrible news started weeks ago for you my friend

Lol that’s cold!

I don’t think Agger will take pens for Liverpool. I’m think he’s got good technique with shooting and also has good composure in attacking areas, as shown by his assist on the weekend. He is one of the variations they have on free kicks as well, and is useful at heading from set pieces as well.

would eduardo become a regular player once he is fully fit?
would he play every match or be rotated? im considering putting him in my fantasy team, he is quality!!!

Reply by Al on October 24 11:01 am:
Remains to be seen. Watch him closely, but don’t jump early. He’s been through a helluva lot so might take time when playing again.
[Reply]
Thats changed things somewhat. May need to upgrade C.Cole now as Arsenal less likely to leak a goal
[Reply]
Hmm, I have Cole and was considering making him my transfer this week. I’d just convinced myself to leave him for one more game gien Arsenal’s patchy defence, but somehow my gut tells me this week might see that change finally.
