Gameweek 12 – The FPL Captain Poll

by Mark on November 4

Things are a little quiet this morning and with a podcast to record at lunchtime, I thought I’d refresh things with a reminder that the Fantasy Premier League captain poll for gameweek 12 is live and well in your middle column.

So cast your votes and use this thread to discuss your options as per usual.

guys, i’m trying to workout a team for long term

sorensen jensen
verm dunne shawcross 4m 4m
dunn fab lamps reid ohara
bent drog rvp

just wondering which two 4mil defenders would u include to complete the team above and what do you think of the overall team(including the two 4mil defenders)

MrSty November 4 at 3:56 pm

Zayatte and Ridgewell
Maybe Bikey or Mears if you don’t rate those two. Depends if you go in for the whole doubling up on defenders debate or not as you have Jensen already and Shawcross+Sorenson.

Great team, I might go for Evra over Verm and Duff over Dunn.

alex84756 November 4 at 3:35 pm

guys im thinkin of leaving benayoun for this week n transferring him out for lampard next week, but this week i have a dilemma….. Do i bring in Reid, Hunt or Etherington? who would you have.

Louie November 4 at 3:35 pm

Lampard 2 Sorensen 9
Gerrard 11 Johnson 18
Gerrard 2 aCole 7
Lampard 10 aCole 14
Gerrard 7 Bent 10
Gerrard 6 aCole 12
Gerrard 7 Bent 18
Van Persie 7 Van Persie 7
Fabregas 8 Fabregas 8
Fabregas 5 Van Persie 9

I have only got it right twice and achieved a measly 58%

Milan November 4 at 3:37 pm

Yes, but you completelly missed only 2 times, so it’s not so bad.

jesse November 4 at 3:42 pm

hmm just out of curiosity, i did mine too:

gw1 lampard(2) shawcross(15) 13%
gw2 lampard(10) kuyt(11) 91%
gw3 lampard(3) young(12) 25%
gw4 lampard(10) lampard(10) 100%
gw5 gerard(7) johnson(9) 78%
gw6 gerard(6) rvp(8) 75%
gw7 gerard(7) rvp(9) 78%
gw8 rvp(7) dunne(11) 64%
gw9 fab(8) fab(8) 100%
gw10 drog(9) drog/rvp(9) 100%
gw11 rvp(15) rvp(15) 100%

82 out of 117 so that’s 72%

Dino November 4 at 3:39 pm

as the guys were saying on the last page louie the winner last year had 60%+ so you are not far away with your capt choices. He would obviously picked up a lot of luck along the way too

SammyC November 4 at 3:42 pm

I’m getting a bit worried now that you’re repeating that stat so much, I’m pretty sure it was between 60 and 70% though. Most people in my league definitely had around 50+.

Dino November 4 at 3:42 pm

also capt points have been unusually high this year as there are an awful lot of players well above the 6.5pts/gm average in comparison to last year.

Louie November 4 at 3:42 pm

That statistic means I can stop feeling sorry for myself and blaming my lowly position on captain choices! edit: Young drawing a blank tonight could take me well below 50% – I blame van Persie.

jms November 4 at 4:16 pm

Winner last year: 296/432 68.5% Picked the right captain 12 weeks out of 38.

Dino November 4 at 4:20 pm

looks like we are heading for a bumper score for this year so what with most people sitting one between 140-170 for their capt and we are not even a third of the way through the season yet.

The sooner the big guns (of other peoples teams) start to get back to a more normal pts/gm avg the better imo

Marknlard November 4 at 3:43 pm

Maybe a more useful captain stat to be looking at is how often your captain picked up just 2 appearance points. I have had 2 this season, in Week 1 and 3.

And also, what’s the minimum you’re happy with from a captain? I think if he gets at least 7 then that’s ok with me.

Milan November 4 at 3:45 pm

Totally agree with Marknlard on this. 7 for captain is ok with me.

Warlock November 4 at 3:50 pm

agree

Andy November 4 at 3:50 pm

I’ve had 2 blank weeks too, in GW 1 & 3 as well.

I’m ‘content’ to accept as low as 5 from my captain as it will get them into double figures, but only start considering being happy when it gets beyond that level.

Milan November 4 at 3:53 pm

1 & 3 blanks as well. Let me guess, we all captained Lamps in gm 1 and Gerrard in gm 3.

Marknlard November 4 at 3:55 pm

Yes for me.

Andy November 4 at 4:01 pm

Aye aye here too.

Marknlard November 4 at 3:53 pm

I like it that you restrict yourself to considered happiness, and not the whole hog!

Andy November 4 at 3:57 pm

Well because if my captain scores 6 or 7 I might be very pleased with myself if that score is a good mark, but if my captain scores 6 or 7 and another (viable) captain’s choice goes and gets double (or more) I probably wouldn’t be as happy – and back to a level of being ‘content’ with the score, but unable to be happy by comparison.

jms November 4 at 4:19 pm

This all takes me back to last year when I captained Ronaldo the game United got a clean sheet but he got red carded. What is zero x 2?

Aldershot Rejects November 4 at 3:53 pm

Here’s my effort, so far

Lampard 2/Shawcross 15
Torres 6/Lampard 10
Torres 5/Shawcross 8
Lampard 10/A Cole 14
Johnson 9/Bent 10
Febregas 8/Torres 13
Johnson 2/Bent 18
Fabregas 22
Fabregas 8
Fagregas 5/Three players 9
C Cole 7/Van Persie 15

Two really bad weeks and most others OKish but only identified the top scorer twice. I’m also just under 60% but averaging 7.6 on my captain – if I can keep that up for the season, I’ll be pretty pleased.

rick_7 November 4 at 3:55 pm

Here’s how I see the weekly rankings.

1,000,000+ – Typical
750,000+ – Movin’ on up
500,000+ – Might go out for a meal to celebrate
250,000+ – Might go out for a meal (with dessert) to celebrate
100,000+ – All round to mine for some pear brandy and crisps
50,000+ – Die of shock
10,000+ – Forgive Stewart Downing for that penalty miss against Sunderland last season.
1,000+ – Crash the podcast, drunk, and serenade Granville
1+ – Ring my brother and enquire if he can give me the latest fantasy football points, as my internet connection is down.

SammyC November 4 at 3:57 pm

I’m never forgiving Downing, think he aggregated -1 point for the 3 games I had him last year

Milan November 4 at 4:02 pm

Aaaah, I almost forgot! Please don’t mention it ever again.

rick_7 November 4 at 4:04 pm

He was due a goal.

Milan November 4 at 4:08 pm

Last year Downing, this Carrick. Always have a player that destroyes me in the beggining.

rick_7 November 4 at 4:10 pm

I had Richardson after his blistering pre-season. I finally gave up when he appeared at left-back and kept falling over the ball.

Milan November 4 at 4:12 pm

Don’t you love it when a player destroys you every week, and you wait for next week giving him one more chance etc.

Louie November 4 at 4:15 pm

Yeah Frederic Piquionne, I lost 0.6 million waiting for him to find form and when I shipped him out – he scored a goal!

PDM Allstars November 4 at 4:21 pm

That`s bad luck !!
I still remember last season I (c) Ireland when he didn`t play & I had Gerrard who scored BIG TIME !!

gaspar November 4 at 5:15 pm

I had Carrick, Richardson and Pienaar :)

Dave Boozle November 4 at 4:06 pm

Boro beat City 6-1 on the final day two years ago. I was winning my mini-league until the final day – my opponent captained Downing who I think got about 25 points. I hate him passionately.

Marknlard November 4 at 4:07 pm

Wasn’t that game 8-1?! I think Alves scored 4.

Dino November 4 at 4:56 pm

I had them both and as far as I can remember alves got 3 gls and 2 assists and downing got 2gls and 2/3 assists. It was a monster week but I still had a terrible season (my first season and no ffs to help either).

tosey November 4 at 4:07 pm

wasnt it 8-1?

Dave Boozle November 4 at 4:09 pm

yeah sorry, 8-1. either way Downing got shed loads and i got screwed.

rick_7 November 4 at 4:09 pm

Last season, I led our TPL mini-league last year from the first game to the last (the FA Cup Final), when I lost to my brother by one point. Perhaps it was the injuries to Jagielka and Beattie that cost me my 140pt lead (yes, I know) over the last eight weeks, after I used up all my subs, but I like to blame Stewie and his 10pt-swing of a ballooned penalty.

Milan November 4 at 4:10 pm

Hey, we could start “I hate Stuart Downing club”.

Funkyav November 4 at 4:38 pm

Most hated players (still playing)

For me Alan Smith, no skill at all, cant score so they make him a def mid. JOKE

Rio Ferdinand, listen to him speak – Nuff said!

Gary Neville (and his brother) – so god damn ugly, their dads name and I cant ever forgive Phil for that penalty against romania.

Eboue – crap player, dirty, cant belive he gets in the team.

Diouf – nothing needs to be said for this one, go on you tube and see his car if u need convincing.

Marknlard November 4 at 4:39 pm

I’ve seen Alan Smith play twice. He got sent off in both.

Milan November 4 at 4:43 pm

Alan Smith is definitely one of most overrated players in the world.

rick_7 November 4 at 4:43 pm

I like Alan Smith, mostly from the 2004-05 season, when he was the only United player who looked interested for the first two months of the season.

rick_7 November 4 at 4:46 pm

Do you listen to the Guardian football podcast? There was a great story on there about Diouf, where Jonathan Wilson was saying he was very media savvy, but essentially a bit mad. Anyway, Diouf was in a bad mood one day and being purposefully moody.

Then Wilson said to him: “C’mon Dioufy, stop being boring, give us something good.” Diouf apparently shrugged and said: “The African Nations Cup is really poor” – or something equally inflammatory – and walked off. Brilliant.

si November 4 at 4:22 pm

Biggest fantasy gaffs you have made, chaps? I remember buying Reina once for a doublegameweek at the cost of 4 points and forgot to put him in my team. Ouch.

I have a recurring dream that I wake up at 11.31 on a saturday and miss the deadline. It has not happened yet.

ps. I clearly need to get out more.

rick_7 November 4 at 4:27 pm

I had a fantasy football dream last Friday too. I captained Fabs and Drogba scored four. Went for it anyway.

I’m fairly new to the FPL game, but surrendering my mammoth lead in TPL last season required an irressistible succession of gaffs, including bringing in Deco after he scored in the opening two games, keeping Downing for about six weeks and picking a series of second strikers who then went on goal droughts – Kenywne Jones, Djibril Cisse and Zaki – who I persisted with for months.

This season I managed to slip to one millionth in the rankings without doing anything THAT stupid, but I’m on the comeback trail now…

Andy November 4 at 4:28 pm

My biggest fantasy gaffe was made this week, in the fantasy stakes game. I had Graham Alexander in my team until Friday night when I decided to plump for a second Stoke defender instead – thinking Hull “have to” come at Burnley at least, so Stoke slightly edged it.

All in all, I would have won £180 had I kept Alexander this week – in the end I won £6.46…

rick_7 November 4 at 4:32 pm

Ouch.

Warky Talky November 4 at 4:28 pm

Bringing in Calton Cole last year for 4 points, then subbing him out before he even played a minute for me as i decided i HAD to have craig bellamy for his double gameweek was a low moment for me last year….

Bedknobs and Boomsticks November 4 at 4:36 pm

Swapping Gerrard for Torres for a hit before the Hull game near the end of last season when Gerrard had a niggle. Torres didn’t start, Gerrard finished the season on fire, I lost out on about 40 pts over the last few weeks of the season (I did keep count but have forgotten the exact figure) and swore never to own Torres again!

Dino November 4 at 5:03 pm

I cant remember mine (I know there have been quite a few) but there was one guy last year who on the last day of the season woke up with a hangover and didn’t trust himself to make the right transfer (lamps was out) so by the time he thought he was sober enough to do it the deadline had passed and I think he ended up with lamps having to play (as he had no sub cover) and he let me beat him by 1pt for second spot! magic

Ps 250 euro diff between 2nd and third plus I split the pot with first place (my bro in law) before the end of the games as he thought with rvp (my capt) ripping it up he was in danger of losing the whole thing so all in all I got an extra 300euro out of that one little gaf!

RaspingDrive November 4 at 4:22 pm

Lol Rick, nice one. I actually couldn’t give a monkeys at what position I finished in a particular GW, to be honest. Nor the head-to-heads to be honest. Overall points is all I look at really and classic league positions.

Re (c) choices, depsite my howler of GW11, I haven’t done too badly. 94 pts out of a possible 147, or 64%.

Now that Milner isn’t playing I expect to drop another thousand places.

Gotta find some traction soon, boys!

si November 4 at 4:27 pm

Has he actually been ruled out? The latest tweet does not really reveal anything new.

Marknlard November 4 at 4:28 pm

This is greekfan’s comment on that tweet:

http://www.fantasyfootballscou.....ent-262392

si November 4 at 4:31 pm

So Jimmy’s “little rub down” was all for nothing. I feel used. Cheers.

Marknlard November 4 at 4:33 pm

:) Maybe you should have been more gentle?

rick_7 November 4 at 4:39 pm

Agreed. Could you pop round to Lampard’s house? About six weeks out should do it.

Dino November 4 at 5:08 pm

no make it drogs house, he is killing me this year :(

si November 4 at 5:11 pm

sorry, can’t help you there lads. Satnav is all geared up for a wearside visit soon and a certain Darren Bent household though.

RaspingDrive November 4 at 4:30 pm

I remember in my rookie year, last year, transferring in Gutierrez and skippering him, failing to realise he had been injured in an international. Doh!

Warky Talky November 4 at 4:31 pm

Im really hoping Zola gives old Jimenez a run out tonight, even if just for 35 seconds or something! Otherwise that joker McFadden is going to come in and actually take away one of my precious points!!

The fact that Parker is back doesnt bode well…

si November 4 at 4:33 pm

I don’t see parker’s return affecting Jimmyness’ playing time tonight. His inability to kick a ball straight may do though.

Warky Talky November 4 at 4:45 pm

ha ha! or is inability to run or tackle might have something to do with it as well!

Dino November 4 at 5:10 pm

maybe the reason they call him el magico is because he can pick up wages without using his hands or feet for that matter  or maybe because he can dissapear??

RaspingDrive November 4 at 4:33 pm

Sorry Si, you are right, it aint confirmed yet, but is he plays I’ll eat my shorts

si November 4 at 4:39 pm

I’ll eat them as well if he plays…I need these points!

Dilzy November 4 at 4:35 pm

How’s everyone doing in champions league fantasy football..so far..?

rick_7 November 4 at 4:38 pm

Alright, I think I’m 17,000th or something. Did tons of subs this week and captained Drogba, which worked out well. Got Fabs, Gallas, Pjanic and a few others to play tonight. Not really tinkering as much as with FPL, which seems to have done the trick.

SammyC November 4 at 4:39 pm

First week I haven’t had an absolute mare. 22 from 4 (after subbing out Robben who played 44 mins and got 1 point .. again)

Dilzy November 4 at 4:45 pm

rick_7: i decided to get hulk instead of drogba… . >:( i dont know why i did that. i’ve got fabregas(c),rvp,fabiano & xavi playing tonight..i’m on 33 points so far..not too bad

SammyC: LOL robben..waste of time…i had schweinsteiger..got rid of him for misimovic who got 10 points :D

Andy November 4 at 4:46 pm

17 points from 4, all my defenders out the way (and managed to get a CS). the only offensive player so far has a goal (Valencia).

All my ‘big guns’ to play tonight, but I spent a sugar load of points on transfers this week as I did them before the line-ups came out for the first time (I thought I would forget) and got burnt.

si November 4 at 4:50 pm

what is the champions league fantasy game you play?

Dilzy November 4 at 4:52 pm

when do you plan to play your wildcard?
i personally don’t know what to do with it

CRUSHER November 4 at 4:53 pm

I already played it. You get unlimited transfers after the group stage anyway and probably plenty after each stage after that.

Dilzy November 4 at 4:57 pm

Yeah, I might play it for matchday 5 or 6 when teams would have already qualified & managers decide to rest their players..

Andy November 4 at 4:58 pm

Yeah, I already used it after Stage 1 or 2, you get so many transfers once the group stagings are over it might as well be used during that time …and I did.

CRUSHER November 4 at 5:01 pm

Transfers are only 2 points as well, so by playing you mke up for the cost. The wildcard seems useless somewhat, so I decided to use it when I knew which cheap guys would be playing and brought one ro two in as subs. I’m still doing awful though, Bayern getting me two red cards last week didn’t help.

Dilzy November 4 at 5:06 pm

I have like 5.5 in the bank
…still regretting ignoring drogba..for hulk.. what a stupid thing to do

tosey November 4 at 4:52 pm

i got 15 from 3, gk, df and kaka

my 3rd choice sub got 6 though! v.annoying

Dilzy November 4 at 4:58 pm

lol who’s your captain

tosey November 4 at 5:07 pm

messi

gangsta_imposta November 4 at 4:38 pm

anyone any idea if diamanti will start 2nyt???!pleeease il bloody luv it if he does anythin!

...al November 4 at 4:59 pm

possibly but he seems to be in the super sub genre

id imagine he gets minutes though

si November 4 at 4:39 pm

2 hilarious football moments this week:

1) The athletico defender’s sudden collapse after Drog nutmeg’s him for the 2nd goal last night.

2) Gabriel Obertan’s introduction to premier league football on saturday. He got the ball on the half-way line and just ran in a straight line (forrest gump style) off the pitch for a throw in!

ps Rooney wearing gloves last night???

rick_7 November 4 at 4:40 pm

Haha, I haven’t seen the Obertan clip. Is he the new David White?

...al November 4 at 4:58 pm

i only seen the hihglights but noticed the defender falling looked comical indeed

didnt see no.2

it was nippy last night

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:02 pm

even real men have to wear gloves sometimes!

overtone November 4 at 6:12 pm

Hahah, Obertan was all over the place.. funny looking guy with a funny looking running style :)

nickybwild November 4 at 4:42 pm

Anyone got any further news on Gerrard’s injury? Is he ging to have the op? Do we have ANY idea of when he might be back??

THANKS :)

...al November 4 at 4:55 pm

Might go complete balls out and captain adebayor the weekend

denial November 4 at 6:03 pm

That’s what I’m doing probably maybe…until 11.29 Saturday morning.

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:00 pm

How sad, I have three players to play tonight Warnock/Cole and Agbonlahor (C) and I am genuinely excited about it! had a good-ish week up to now with 65 and think it could be a 2-2 tonight (am hoping for one anyway) main rival has Dunne (C) so it suits me but I just think both teams have alot to play for so it will be high scoring, anyone share my enthusiasm?

tosey November 4 at 5:03 pm

no. 1-0 west ham with anyone but carlton cole scoring suits me

monstery November 4 at 5:03 pm

Aye, shame it’s not on the box

Andy November 4 at 5:05 pm

I’m just glad it’s not on television as I’d be shouting at Ashley Young to “F@$£ing do something” all night.

I certainly don’t see a clean sheet for either side, so having offensive players from both sides I have a little bit of hope I might get a little something extra.

si November 4 at 5:08 pm

All about lyon v liverpool tonight, surely guys?

If the liverpool line up is as expected I will be putting my car, house and girlfriend on a home win.

Andy November 4 at 5:13 pm

I can’t be arsed to watch a drab injury ravaged Liverpool side though, I’d much rather watch a (potential) Arsenal masterclass.

Liverpool game obviously has much more hanging on it, but it’s much more likely to be bloody awful.

Vermeerish November 4 at 5:09 pm

There better be a bald Italian on the teamsheet or I’m going to smash up something small and Zola shaped.

rick_7 November 4 at 5:12 pm

Haha. Consider that joke nicked.

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:14 pm

nice week for you so far Andy, sweet, I am of course hoping A Young gets sent off as my main rival has him

rick_7 November 4 at 5:11 pm

Yeah, I’m well up for it. I’ve got to revise tonight, as I’m on hopefully the last exams I’ll ever take (senior journalist ones).. but I’m going to have to listen at least some of it (I don’t have Sky). I’ve got Cole and Collins – and Milner, irrelevantly. Looking forward to the game, and if nothing else the double GW made me take the plunge for C.Cole ahead of the Arsenal match.

RaspingDrive November 4 at 5:05 pm

I can’t wait till this GW is out of the way.

In fact I think all of the Milner (c) people should organise a pitch invasion and get the game abandoned.

Or perhaps the west ham fans will oblige anyway

Vermeerish November 4 at 5:10 pm

Yep Milner(c)Gate is bound to get the Upton crowd riled. The Millwall match will look like a f**king teaparty.

Marknlard November 4 at 5:18 pm

Did you hear that they charged 6 actors after the West Ham Millwall game?

Apparently, SSN were interspersing clips from the hoolie film The Firm with actual footage of the violence. Old Plod was watching this with the sound off without realising this, and put the actors’ faces on the wanted list…

Andy November 4 at 5:21 pm

That was hilarious wasn’t it Marknlard?

Good old PC plum making errors, and good of the pod lads to let me know about it.

Marknlard November 4 at 5:23 pm

Did make me chuckle.

But it makes you think about who else has been charged for hooliganism despite their innocence…

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:27 pm

is that actually true, is there a source for that?!

Marknlard November 4 at 5:28 pm
Dino November 4 at 5:41 pm

 “a bad day at the office” unbelievable! No wonder so much crime goes unpunished, I bet they are still looking for sharon stone after she “murdered” that guy on the cctv footage

Dino November 4 at 5:41 pm

i meant to say unsolved*

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:44 pm

cheers, that is very very good, I do love having a laugh at the police sometimes

RaspingDrive November 4 at 5:53 pm

Blimey, that’s unbelievable. Funny as f**k though!

...al November 4 at 5:17 pm

i just wana see the back f the milner buzz, said a gazillion times last week its gona be nonsence! cudnt preditcted it would be this much but well it was

the next double gameweek is where the points are going to be at

RaspingDrive November 4 at 5:07 pm

Its on live here. If I am feeling masochistic I may watch it, wearing my hair shirt and genital cuff

The Duck Of Doom November 4 at 5:07 pm

My plan for the next few gameweeks has been ripped to shreds after Bilygotsentov and Milner picked up an injury.

Was going to have 4 players in the double in 13 – Baines, Bily, Hangeland, Dunn without taking any point hits on the way.

Now have more pressing issues to deal with such as bans and injuries.

Planning on keeping Baines still until after GW13, who should I bring in with my 2 free transfers before the double?

A point hit or 2 before the double is tempting… I would like to have Baines, Hangeland, Dunn & Dempsey for the double but would cost me at least 4 points.

Worthwhile?

Dino November 4 at 5:14 pm

after this double bubble? are you mad? Unless you want one of those plpayers in for a decent length of time there is no point taking the point hit as excepting dunn (and he is away for both games) or dempsey none of them have the capacity to score very highly over the two games.

It might have been worth it if one of the players was a rvp/fab etc who could and most likely would get you back your 4pts over two games.

overtone November 4 at 6:06 pm

Bilygotsentov hahaha that’s funny…

...al November 4 at 5:11 pm

lyon will win

and when they do, ill be overjoyed :)

Applebonkers November 4 at 5:17 pm

i hope liverpool win because its more fun when they still think they have a chance of winning things

nickybwild November 4 at 5:11 pm

hmmm no one seemed to even attempt to answer my previous post:

Anyone got any further news on Gerrard’s injury? Is he ging to have the op? Do we have ANY idea of when he might be back??

I’m guessing there is still a dark cloud over the entire situation?

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:26 pm

I am sure it would be top of the tweets if it was nicky, Greek Fan is the man for keeping us all in the loop, if you have Gerrard, I would be getting rid for the moment anyway

Dilzy November 4 at 5:12 pm

How’s this for ‘crazy’ ?
agbon->rvp
hunt->duff
a.young->reid
8 point hit :P
nah..not brave enough to do it

...al November 4 at 5:15 pm

f@ck it do it if u gota, i done an 8 point hit already this season eveything was aok people go mad for hits around here, there not THAT bad

and ive no idea on gerrards injury as far as i know i dont think he can make it tonight and torres may be playing but on those injections things

Dilzy November 4 at 5:23 pm

You’re right..i’ve gotta do it…im having the worst season of my life..there’s no way i can win my mini-league (Yes,i’m THAT far away)
i might as well do it and maybe get a top 4 finish :/

Jimi November 4 at 5:27 pm

hiya guys, moved flat last weekend so only got internet at work atm.
Who are the top players to look at bringing in for the next few game weeks?

Applebonkers November 4 at 5:31 pm

your avatar perfectly illustrates a lot of peoples emotions on this site this gw.
seems the names that are coming up a lot for the next few weeks are dunn, dempsey, hangeland, hughes, reid etc

...al November 4 at 5:36 pm

you shud have seen mine with the swastica in there instead of the peace logo

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 5:28 pm

Should I get rid of Geovanni this week, would prob be for Dunn. I really only got him in for the double GW and he should feature in both those games, it’s just that I’m starting to regret it as Hull are cack and he may start droppin soon. Could wait til nxt week and just bench him this gw as I’m not sure I’d play Dunn this week anyway.

Any thoughts?

Anyone else got both Roon and Snoop Drog and worrying about potential lack of points on 2 big hitters?

Encyclo November 4 at 5:35 pm

Why not play Dunn at home to Pompey?

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 5:40 pm

Was gonna play 3 up front with Drogba, Rooney and C Cole, which means only 4 allowed in midfield and I’ve got Fabs, Reid, Kranjcar and Milner already playin (assuming Milner is fit again.

What do ppl think of playing Rooney v. Drogba though?

MFaulkner November 4 at 5:43 pm

If you’ve got Rooney, you’ve got to play him. He’s got good fixtures after this so there’s no point in selling, and there’s no reason why Rooney and Drogba can’t both score in the same game.

And If you were to bring in Dunn, I’d play him over Reid.

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:50 pm

Nani is a bag of dirt! Tried to convince Si that he was going to start against Blackburn (which he did) and really show what he could do (which he didn’t), as a Man U fan I would really like to see him prove all his critics wrong but I am slowly giving up all hope!

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 5:55 pm

Yeah but you gotta love his boyish grin and fabulous dance moves! Oh and that performance against Arsenal a couple of seasons ago. (Sorry MF!)

Encyclo November 4 at 5:57 pm

That Solo Dribble he did against aresnal was worth the 17million we paid for him!

...al November 4 at 5:38 pm

is geo out for 3 or 1 games, if 3 then definitly yes, if 1.. maybe

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 5:41 pm

just 1 methinks

Dino November 4 at 5:45 pm

only one so back for the double bubble and he has been in inspires form lately also. He should have had that goal last weekend and also the ref missed a blatant hull peno so that would have been a very nice thank you 12pts + bonus if the ref was not such a twat!

MFaulkner November 4 at 5:40 pm

I think Geovanni was a dead FF prospect about a year ago, so you really need to sell that one asap. Dunn is a good buy, good fixtures and of course the double. Seems pretty straightforward to me.

Have you only got those two big players NIMJ? and who would you play instead of Dunn from your current crop of players?

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 5:43 pm

see above with Toure, Shawcross and Collins in DEF. Don’t wnna risk Evra against what looks like the strongest side in the PL this season.

...al November 4 at 5:44 pm

probably are best to drop him, get dunn or maybe duff or some fulham mid or something i didnt realise geo was 5.9 thats mad, never even considered him this season

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 5:56 pm

Thanks all! I’ll have to MULL it over. . . .

Get it? Hull/Mull

. . . . . cue the cyber tumbleweed

gormdubhgorm November 4 at 5:41 pm

Milner fof captain gw12…

Johnny Unitas November 4 at 5:47 pm

I agree, he is going to tear it up after disappointing so many fantasy managers on Fantasyfootballscout.co.uk, he is a big fan of Fran apparently

...al November 4 at 5:49 pm

i might captain ade this week

there is probably nothing mroe satisying that holding onto a player everyone dropped out on and reaping in the points the next week

tosey November 4 at 6:01 pm

Milners travelled and will start! bloody hell i was hoping hed be out, pretty much everyone in my league has him apart from me

nani is michael jackson November 4 at 6:02 pm

Source?

snowman November 4 at 6:02 pm

is this a wind up?

tosey November 4 at 6:06 pm

yeh sorry couldnt resist! bet he will end up playing now!

Frank November 4 at 6:11 pm

He’s just mad because he didn’t like the look of this double gameweek and tonight he’s set to drop at least 100 places as a result.

;-)

tosey November 4 at 6:13 pm

have to admit i am preparing to drop tonight but im sure having 7 dbl gwk players + fab/rvp/lamps/drog will push me back up in a couple of weeks ;)

it better had now as ive left myself open to abuse of the milner variety if it doesnt!

Frank November 4 at 6:15 pm

:-)

I have 6 double gwk players for GW13, and I had 3 for this week (my captain still to play again :-) )

Pretty glad I managed to do that without any point hits :-)

tosey November 4 at 6:16 pm

have u prepared for gw17 though?

Frank November 4 at 6:17 pm

I have indeed, I’ve planned up to GW20.

I even have a free transfer in there as a buffer incase of injuries :-)

tosey November 4 at 6:18 pm

fair play me too, gotta take a 4 point hit but thats it and thats only cuz i want rid of my 3 everton players straight after the dbl gwk

Frank November 4 at 6:20 pm

Yeah, don’t blame you. A point hit sounds reasonable to get rid of Everton players, lol.

tosey November 4 at 6:22 pm

if it hadnt been for the dbl gwk theyd have been gone ages ago. quite lookin forward to tehm goin as will have 5 big hitters not 4. thinkin thats the way to go this season

RaspingDrive November 4 at 6:06 pm

Hilarious Tosey

snowman November 4 at 6:09 pm

Encyclo November 4 at 6:13 pm

Frank is your site ready for us to see?

Frank November 4 at 6:16 pm

Nope! Will keep you updated ;-)

Encyclo November 4 at 6:17 pm

Whens it ready? I thought we were seeing it today/

Frank November 4 at 6:25 pm

It was meant to be Tuesday, but then some weird price increases happened, I posted about it on Monday.

I’m torn between launching the system bit by bit of getting some of the bigger sections such as the stats section done first.

For example, one of the features I’m adding at the mo (while I wait for more transfer data), is a ‘Formations’ section, containing formations every team played for every game. Sounds uninteresting, you might say, but along side the ‘theoretical’ formation for each team will be another pitch showing where they actually played. This should give a great idea of how attacking each player is etc.

This is on top of all the basis like .. Chances created, asissts, shots, passes, pass %, shots on target, filterable not only by game, but by season, so you can specify home games, away games, select the games you want to see, there will even be a compare mode for any number of players.

Kinda wanna get that bit built and then launch. At that point I should have a starting point for 90% of the players too, and enough data to be confident in my algorithms (every day, my system goes back and checks the algorithms against every price change which did/didn’t happen since I started tracking, meaning that whatever logic I have in place is correct for every price change which happened).

Encyclo November 4 at 6:27 pm

OK looking forward to it.

Dhubanmonkey November 4 at 6:15 pm

Is Milner going to play tonight?

Frank November 4 at 6:16 pm

Nope!

snowman November 4 at 6:19 pm

not even for 5 mins to come on and score a pen :(

Frank November 4 at 6:26 pm

Nope.!

snowman November 4 at 6:32 pm

in that case come on you hammers!!

BP FC November 4 at 6:22 pm

ESPN GameCast says the game tonight has been rescheduled?

Warlock November 4 at 6:25 pm

3:0 for Villa…Young scores brace and Collins one for Villa and Green saves the penalty…(in my drems)

Dai November 4 at 6:51 pm

Agbonlahor is going to score the highest tonight. he has to.

Dai November 4 at 6:54 pm

Is anyone considering captaining Drogba over RVP or Fab this weekend? I have a gut feeling that he will destroy Utds low confidence defence.

NotoriousDRE November 5 at 12:07 am

Cesc

NotoriousDRE November 5 at 12:06 am

do u guys think Milner will be fit for this weekend’s game?

looking to improve my midfield…

Jarvis (Milner if hurt) to Dempsey?….4pt hit?

overtone November 5 at 12:19 am

Milner -> Dempsey is hardly an improvement.. more of a horizontal move if you ask me..

Applebonkers November 5 at 12:23 am

i agree with u tony but it would free up 1 million in cash so possibly worth it in that respect

Applebonkers November 5 at 12:25 am

sorry overtone* not tony

Supersonic November 5 at 12:17 am

brought in Agbonlahor simply because of the double gameweek but he’s not a good footballer.

think i’ll take him out and do something similar with Zamora – dbl GW coming up and wigan this w/e.

guaranteed to increase in value – possibly as quickly as tomorrow!

11nova November 5 at 2:24 am

i’m thinking about getting berbatov for bent because sunderland have some tough games and berbatov has started every game…what do u guys think?

11nova November 5 at 9:28 pm

does anyone think this is a good choice?

rickatatastan November 5 at 3:18 am

Good ol’ Zavon! :D
