Chelsea Lose Bosingwa For Three Months

by Mark on November 11

As mentioned by Greek Fan’s tweets earlier, Chelsea have this afternoon confirmed that Jose Bosingwa has had surgery on his knee injury this week. The operation and associated rehabilitation will sideline the right-back for three months according to the Chelsea statement.

This is big news for fantasy managers as it confirms Ivanovic as Ancelotti’s first choice right-back. Belletti and Ferreira provide options but the Serb looks assured of starts ahead of them. Ivanovic is available as a mid-price option across the fantasy games, with a price tag of 5.6 in the Fantasy Premier League game….

Chelsea have Arsenal and City away to come in the next three but Wolves at home next gameweek looks a good bet for an immediate return. Chelsea follow thye City game with an extremely strong run of fixtures (EVE POR whm bir FUL hul SUN BIR bur). Ivanovic would seem likely to start many of those games with Bosingwa sidelined.

I’m bringing in Ivanovic after the City game. Samba > Ivanovic for me.

Morrissey1986 November 11 at 10:11 pm

Just got off the phone to my Wolves mate and says Chelsea get caught out on wing play they will probably pack out the midfield against Chelsea and play just Doyle upfront. Were see but he predicts 3-0 with Anelka Joe Cole and Ivanovic scoring.

Morrissey1986 November 11 at 10:11 pm

Wolves get caught out not Chelsea.

Warlock November 11 at 10:13 pm

Drogba hat-trick…my captain (probably)…

Encyclo November 11 at 10:15 pm

Warlock what were your transfers this week?

Warlock November 11 at 10:16 pm

Hangeland and Duff in…Collins and Bowyer out…

Encyclo November 11 at 10:19 pm

What you think about geeting Lamps in?

Warlock November 11 at 10:22 pm

will definately get him…unfortunately can’t for GW 13, so will wait till GW 16 or 17…

Encyclo November 11 at 10:23 pm

But if you could youd get him in now?

Warlock November 11 at 10:28 pm

don’t know what to say…for the wolves game definately (c)….but two though fixtures after…Arsenal and City away games…probably I would anyway, think he’s getting better and better…

Encyclo November 11 at 10:30 pm

exactly my thinking, think im goint to get him

m165 November 11 at 10:18 pm

My team for GW13

Sorensen
Collins, Bramble, Zayatte
Lampard, Fabregas, Dunn, Dempsy
RVP, Drogba, Bent

Subs: Thomas, Bikey, Faye
1.7 in the bank

I’m thinking either Zamora for Bent, or Hangeland for Faye, and playing him over Bramble.

Getting Zamora will let me have Evra for GW14, rather than O’shea if i were to chose Hangeland, and maybe Carvalho aswell.

Anyone have any opinions on that? Or any suggestions for my team?

breakballartist November 11 at 10:30 pm

Am thinkin about cashing in on Bent too, with a view 2 bringing Rooney in for the long term. Go the Zamora move.

m165 November 11 at 11:02 pm

Tempting. Got a while to decide, but its guaranteed whet i rid of Bent, he’ll start scoring again, though Zamora seems to be doing well and double good Zamora sounds very worth it!

breakballartist November 11 at 10:27 pm

Lads, dont think any of the other 3 are logged in; any thoughts re selection nd transfers ahead of my FFS Cup Semi?? Havnt made this GWs transfer, Coles injury abit of a blow.

Encyclo November 11 at 10:32 pm

A.Cole out maybe for Samba or someone?

Seanigula November 11 at 10:34 pm

I’d get rid of Turner for a Blackburn defender….then play him and Wilk instead of A Cole and Bent.

I’d also consider ditching Bent at this point, but I need to dump Nugent first.

Seanigula November 11 at 10:35 pm

or Turner to Ivanovic

Dino November 11 at 11:29 pm

Will wilko play? unless huth is injured I think left back is the only position he might play (left back on the coach that is :) gotta love the oldies). If that is the case bb then you are in a similar boat to myself in that you have cole not likely to play and another defender who while fit will prob not play (i have tompkins). I also have faye suspended so I will have to bring in a consistent def who will defo play.

I think that is also where you should concentrate your efforts. i.e. bring in a player for wilko who will defo play. Maybe hughes for fulham or else another cheap def who will def play if you want to save the money for a future transfer.

Just One More Thing November 11 at 10:40 pm

Not sure I can give much adviced to somebody with an ultra-impressive score of 793 but with 4 dgw players you look set fair. Dare I say it but your subs bench looks weak – SEB v Chelsea is a no-goer; Turner has to sit the Arsenal game out; and Wilkinson is a bit-part player.

It looks like Cole will not play in the Wolves game but perhaps you should just wait or swap Cole out for Ivanovic – he looked good v United and is worth a go at £5.6m. Chelsea look good for a clean sheet so a swap for a Chelsea player looks the way to go.

With the cash in the bank you could do Turner > Ivanovic which could really push an advatage home later on when Chelsea have some decent fixtures in gw 16 & beyond. Good luck!

Just One More Thing November 11 at 10:41 pm

More or less said by the lads above – great minds think alike eh? :-)

Immt November 11 at 10:48 pm

guys, turner should go, but he’s already got 3 chelsea players… if he doesn’t dump cole he can’t fit ivanovic in.

should consider getting at least 1 man utd player, as their schedule is getting very attractive. perhaps the popular evra –> cole swap? it’s pretty ordinary, but i doubt you’d trade your dgw defenders out this week…

Just One More Thing November 11 at 10:54 pm

Yep – good spot – Cole > Evra looks a decent shout.

Seanigula November 11 at 11:05 pm

he has a good team and lots of options…

I’d keep Cole for the long-term if he’s only out 1 game.

if you are willing to downgrade Bent (to Zamora?) then you could swap Turner for Evra and have both Cole and Evra for the future.

Immt November 11 at 11:13 pm

i too agree that cole is a long term pick. but he already has 3 players who will miss out gameweek 17… coupled with a weak bench, he doesn’t have many transfer options for the following month.

if he swaps cole for evra this week, he can then swap turner out for ivanovic the following, and still have 3 weeks’ transfer quota to fix gameweek 17

breakballartist November 11 at 11:16 pm

Cheers lads; alot of what i was thinking on the qt! Tis funny how your team could get away from you with a few weak transfers. Wilko ok for this week but has to go and SEB isnt gona score in the EPL. Utds run means somebody has to come in long term. May move Young on.

goose November 11 at 10:43 pm

Apart from next week are there any other double game weeks coming up we know of?

Just One More Thing November 11 at 10:51 pm

Yes – gamesweek 20:

Chelsea v FULHAM
STOKE V Birmingham
FULHAM V STOKE

Just One More Thing November 11 at 10:52 pm

That last game should be Stoke v Fulham so Stoke investment for that dgw looks particularly wise

Dino November 12 at 11:23 am

I think we were looking at potential dates for the arsenal v bolton fixture and it looks as though either the 23dec or gw 20 and since the 23rd dec is so close to xmas I would say this fixture will be a double bubble in gw20 also.

fleeto2009 November 12 at 11:43 am

stoke v fulham…

Immt November 11 at 10:52 pm

in addition to their fixed schedule, stoke and fullham play each other in gameweek 20 (craven cottage). don’t know about the rest…

Immt November 11 at 10:53 pm

JOMT you just have to beat me to every reply don’t you :D

goose November 11 at 11:11 pm

Cheers for that both of you, i missed that!

fleeto2009 November 12 at 11:42 am

it’s actually at the britannnia…

Just One More Thing November 11 at 11:05 pm

Were on the same wavelength Immt – quite sharp reactions for me at this time of night..:-)

goose November 11 at 11:13 pm

Not happy with my team and just looking at a possible wild card selection how do people rate this team:

Given, Hart
Ivanovic, Dann, Hughes, Alexander, O’Shea
Fab, Dunn, Ried, Dempsey, O Hara
RVP, Rooney, Drogba

Does any think it might be worth tweeking and getting Evra in instead of O’Shea just worried about rotation with Brown being back?

breakballartist November 11 at 11:20 pm

Lose Given for a cheaper keeper and upgrade Hughes. Awesome strike force!!!

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:20 pm

that defence i couldnt cope with……all poorer choices from there teams bar alexander,
clean sheets are bound to come soon……i reckon invested in trusted options evra, cole (when fit) and posible liverpool after arsenal game will be wise.
too many cheap options in defence But rest of your team is class!

goose November 11 at 11:25 pm

Breakballatist i was thinking of sorensen for Given but i really like Given, i think he is the best keeper in the prem and ive had him in since day 1, but u might be right!

Dbronaldo i no what your saying but there arent any clean sheets around at the moment they may come but whos to say! It might be like this all season! If i urgrade my defense i will lose my strikeforce i really want and there is not much give in the midfield! Its too bloody hard this game!

breakballartist November 11 at 11:33 pm

As far as respect for a player goes, Given is thee man, best in the Prem; AW or SAF shoulda bought him years ago. But as a fantasy option at the mo, no. Green or Sorenson.

goose November 11 at 11:36 pm

I no, i always said why didnt SAF buy him! Glad he didnt but still, he is hugely overlooked! I think your right, you definetly have to leave opinions on players (positive or negative) to one side to do well in this game!

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:35 pm

ya i agree goose been very un predictable regarding the clean sheets so far,
but id bet my team and future transfers (i will) on top 4 getting some clean sheets in future, man u starting this week and chelsea after arsenal game,
i plan to have evra and cole in soon and hangeland i will replace with o shea or song when fulham fixtures go abid severe.
id try get evra in if i were u……he is mainstay in team now and ferguson regards him a leader,
plus just watch as sir alex will give fabio/ rafeal a few games in RB slot soon…….as well as odd one to neville,
id go 4 a cole/carv and evra as ur base from defence.
only way i can see u afford this if u downgrade van persie perhaps to defoe maybe?…..i cant see his from continue so massive

goose November 11 at 11:41 pm

I think your right, i dont like defenders though, love the attackers lol! But i think you do need to have solid defenders who will play each week from big teams, maybe i will tweek! I kept thinking that about RVP while my main mini league rival was bagging his points and opening up a lead, thing is even if his goals dry up he gets the assists! I do like Defoe tho….

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:44 pm

ya eveyone in mini league has RVP……..im gona try do bit of catching this week by having rooney instead ,
also have c cole who i reckon could bang in a few againist hull and burnley………..another option which give u nice bit of money in return to use elsewhere.

goose November 11 at 11:46 pm

I was thinking that, i might leave my wildcard a week and just go Ade to Rooney and see what happens, i do have a feeling Ade might get a goal or 2 tho!

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:22 pm

lads anyone here know if torres NTI target of 240,000 is correct on CTC?
worried he will drop again b4 next friday week when i plan to get rid of him?

Just One More Thing November 11 at 11:32 pm

A re-post from earlier – something for me to comtemplate over the next 10 days, when I bring in Hangeland for Glen Johnson:

A – Lamps for Arshavin;
B – Drogs for Ade;
C – Neither of the above thus avoiding a 4 point hit.

I know Chelsea have 1 excellent home fixture and then two difficult away fixtures but I don’t want either Drogs or Lamps to have another good gw without me being part of it.

If as I suspect Joe Cole gets a start v Wolves Lamps may be the better shout. I am only going on the Blackburn game when they were shite, but Joe Cole seem to alternate positions with Lamps giving him more of a free rein than he’s been accustomed to in the diamond or Xmas tree formation.

Any thoughts on Options a, b or c ?

breakballartist November 11 at 11:38 pm

C man!!! what r u thinking? Oursharon is Fabs Lite a fantasy pipe dream. Arsenals fixtures arent the best over the next while. Ade to Rooneeeee maybe?

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:38 pm

hey JOMT
i reckon u could be onto some points with lamps 4 arshavin,
i can see wenger rest him after his 2 tough WC qualifies away to sunderland,
so yes id go option a………maybe gerrard as another possiblity?

Just One More Thing November 11 at 11:46 pm

Gerrard is a big risk with Liverpool out of form and with him lacking full fitness. I know where you are coming from with Arsh after the Internationals – Weneger rested him last time, but with injuries to Bendtner etc. Wenger has less options…

I was looking at the last couple of Wolves away games – 1-1 with Everton and 2-2 with Stoke; both games influenced from the left-hand side – Bilyaletindov & Etherington – perhaps Lamps could prosper with Joe Cole in the team again?

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:49 pm

id bet nasri will get the start away to sunderland ahead of arshavin……..unlesss russian hammer slovenia and 2nd leg is played at canter.

MFaulkner November 12 at 12:01 am

Unlikely. Who would play in midfield with Fabregas and Song if Nasri was to be moved into the front 3?

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:03 am

simple faulkner
diaby fabs and song in midfield or even ramsey now with diaby out

and up front

edwardo /rosicky RVP nasri

MFaulkner November 12 at 12:08 am

Again, unlikely. Sunderland away is too difficult to a) rest Arshavin or b) play Ramsey.

Last week was basically Ramsey’s first league start in a meaningful game. It doesn’t now instantly make him a regular.

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:15 am

mate how is it unlikely??
last time arshavin had WC match away to azebezan (u know the one ;) ) arshavin was rested,
as i remember walcott was brought in starting line up but had to come off injured early,
anyway just shows wenger has rested him and this week wil be most likely if he will.
also news from france is diaby could even make bench for france at weekend so he is fit…thus removing chances of ramsey playing,

and just abit more nasri is most recognised at left side attacking player……
I bet u if arshavin is dropped nasri will play
and even rosicky could play also……plenty of options plenty

MFaulkner November 12 at 12:38 am

okay, Arshavin was rested for a home game against Birmingham. Wenger knows that Sunderland away is different kettle of fish.

You also should note that the French national squad are saying Diaby could be fit, not Arsenal, Arsenal’s line has been that he was out for 3 weeks. I’d bet that the FFF are more than willing to risk his fitness, which will probably result in him being out for longer.

And Nasri’s recognised in this country as a left winger because that’s where he played last season in a 4-4-2. Wenger has stated on numerous occasions that Nasri’s best in the centre and that’s where he intends to play him. Rosicky’s fitness is also in doubt, as is Eduardo’s form (Wenger preferred Bendtner to him in the NL derby).

Dino November 12 at 11:32 am

I am with MF here, wenger only rested arshavin after the last international break as he thought they would get by easily without him and he had some extensive flying to do for that fixture.

My bet is arshavin will not be rested

Immt November 11 at 11:40 pm

i’d choose C.
i would never do A unless i need to free up money to upgrade another.
man city has too many scorers… tevez bellamy swp etc. in contrast drogba is chelsea’s main source of goals. as such i wouldn’t do B either. don’t worry about tough fixtures… at the moment they can score against any team :)

Immt November 11 at 11:49 pm

oops misread… i thought you meant lamps out for arsh or drogs out for ade lol

what jms said – he’s got the captain’s poll to back him up.

jms November 11 at 11:46 pm

I would do B and justify the 4 point hit because you are bringing in Hangeland, not just for the double gameweek but also for the following fixtures. I have Chelsea/Wolves as a big win for Chelsea and I don’t see Arsenal or City shutting out Chelsea. If I am right, I think Drogba has the best chance of getting some points out of those two fixtures. I also see more of an upside points-wise with Arshavin than Ade over the next few weeks. Just a hunch.

Just One More Thing November 11 at 11:49 pm

Cheers lads – the input is much appreciated. So I have 2 for C, 1 for A and 1 for B :-(

Immt November 11 at 11:49 pm

sorry i switched to B :(

Randy November 11 at 11:47 pm

yeh mate, stick with C

i’m taking 4 point hits for no reason, even when ive got quality on the bench, got a bad feeling its gonna catch up with me…

from now on, no more point hits!!!!

oh and by the way, if anyone was wondering. tripling up on the stoke defence DID NOT work for me. last time im trying that one!!!!!

Immt November 11 at 11:52 pm

sorry to hear that. but hey, you got milner subbed in for collins, nobody can complain on that one!

Randy November 12 at 12:03 am

ha ha, saved my gameweek mate. couple of weeks ago i got 16 points off two people on my bench.

just shows its worth havin decent subs….

last season was my first and my subs weren’t even starters!

Just One More Thing November 12 at 12:19 am

I think I’m going to do the 4 point hit and go with whoever is top of the infamous captain’s poll come a week Saturday.

Randy November 12 at 12:28 am

so fabregas or drogba?

Just One More Thing November 12 at 12:38 am

Already have Fab so Drogs is looking the favourite at the moment. I can see it now..when he comes in for Adebayor in my team, Adebayor will probably score a couple of goals away at Liverpool and put the final nail in Liverpool’s coffin for this season.

Morrissey1986 November 11 at 11:36 pm

My biggest dilemna this week is Adebayor against a troubled Liverpool defence yes or no?

Just One More Thing November 11 at 11:39 pm

It is a bit of a dilemma – I have him and he is a big differential for me in my mini-league – he’s gotta hit form soon (he hasn’t been the same sinced he got banned and his fitness isn’t 100%). Could be worth chancing – have you got Drogba since I’m looking at a potential straight swap?

EPL Lover November 11 at 11:41 pm

I would look at Rooney. He has great fixtures coming up.

Humbug November 12 at 12:21 am

Ah I share the same dilemma as well, it’s either a)hold fire b)switch to Roon or c)switch to Zamora, Milner to Lampard but since there’s no imminent price rises I’m holding off until after ints like most folk. Knowing Liverpool’s luck, if the likes of Agger/Skrtel/Johnson are all unfit then I may just let Ade stay, the Hull fixture next week is also mightily tempting. Then again, he only managed a (flukey) assist against the worst away side in the prem this week.

Decisions decisions.

flyover November 12 at 1:02 am

Yeah, the best reason for holding Adebayor is that he’ll be a good captaining choice in Week 14, when Arsenal and Chelsea play each other. I’ll probably wish I had him or Rooney (who’s at Portsmouth) at that time.

Bram November 12 at 1:20 am

My current plan is to hold Ade until after the Hull game then switch him to Rooney if that helps. Been pondering that one a while myself but personally I’m loathed to take a 4pt hit to shift someone out before liv HUL.

Whether I’d give him the armband again though GW14 is another matter though as I gave it to the useless &%!$ last week! May be tempted to give it to Gerrard for the derby but will decide that one later. GW14 was part of my logic getting him but once bitten ……. maybe if he seems to have hit form against Pool ……..

buggu November 12 at 1:54 am

exactly why i brought him in too so will hold off until gw15. guess my only mistake was making him capt, normally i wait to see someone in form before i make them captain. At least this gw it give me a chance to see how sharp he is.

webbywebbywebby November 11 at 11:40 pm

O’Hara or Jerome for next game week?

EPL Lover November 11 at 11:42 pm

Toss up.
Jerome – Fulham H
O’Hara – Stoke A

I would go Jerome.

Bram November 12 at 1:24 am

I’d probably go Jerome too but wouldn’t necessarily expect more than 2 from either of them. If in doubt then usually it’s a decent idea to go for the player at home.

On an equal fixture I’d take O’Hara but Jerome seems to have the better fixture and is bound to have a bit of confidence.

I’m also hoping for a Hangeland & Sorenson CS so both are bound to score!

dbronaldo November 11 at 11:46 pm

o hara may whip a corner or free kick in,
jerome could more than likely go back to his 1 or 2 point regular return.
o hara is more central to pompy than jerome to brum,
thats how i always pick subs and starters anyway.

Randy November 12 at 12:00 am

given that liverpool are now royally screwed. i.e no riera, benayoun for around a month…

are people keeping an eye on gerrard and kuyt???

not gonna bring them in cos i want rooney in next, but is it likely that gerrard and kuyt are gonna be the sole points scorers for a damaged liverpool side badly in need of bouncing back?

Randy November 12 at 12:04 am

oh, aurelio!!!!!

sweet!!!!

Just One More Thing November 12 at 12:06 am

Gerrard could be a good differential but his ongoing fitness issues are a worry – Kuyt looks a pale shadow of his former self compared to last season; but I don’t think their fixtures are great: MCY eve bla ARS

Johnson was doing well down the right-wing v Brum and could have assisted a Gerrard goal on more than one occasion – a big gamble at a bloated £12.5m but a possibility.

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:11 am

im planning to get stevie g in randy……but not until the week 16 when they play arsenal at home…they have an excellent run of fixtures from here onwards……
will swap milner for him as villa fixtures are bad week 16 on

Randy November 12 at 12:15 am

yeh he’s just so expensive isn’t he???
i’m surprised everyone who has him hasnt bailed!
it’d be difficult to get him in if he was 10m let alone 12.5m!!

so bored of revision, fantasy keeps me sane but also kills so much of my valuable time!!!

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:18 am

i miss revison!!…..my first time since i was like 12 i dont have exams coming up,
i miss college :( a well back again next year 4 a masters ( hopefully)

Randy November 12 at 12:25 am

f*ck that mate, i cant wait to finish uni now!!!!
obviously miss it when i leave, but i’m 26 and i need to get on with my life!!!!

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:27 am

ah well i get that so , im just 22 so no rush yet! ;)
where u study?

Bram November 12 at 1:31 am

Kinda depending a bit on C Cole fitness for me. Assuming he’s fit the I think he’ll punch above his weight for the next couple so may take a Gerrard punt with the money I have doing nothing in the bank.

Johnny Unitas November 12 at 12:25 am

Thinking of doing the following (bar injuries with Team)

Sorenson (Foster – next GW he is gone, just not this one)

Evra Shawcross Ivanovic (A.Cole OUT) Carr (Warnock)

Fabregas Kuyt Dunn Elliott (O’Hara)

C Cole Drogba Rooney (Agbon OUT)

So I have two free transfers and thats what I am planning, A.Cole out Ivanovic IN, Agbon OUT Rooney IN.

Thoughts?

Randy November 12 at 12:27 am

maybe hold out for the ivanovic thing unless he’s going up and you cant afford him. cos his two games after wolves arent great….

as for gettin in rooney, i think thats a decent shout, he was my man of the match against chelsea and has a ridiculous fixxture line up now

Johnny Unitas November 12 at 12:35 am

thank you sir, noted, might hold off on A Cole to Ivanovic just have 2.2 in the bank and need to free up .4 to do Agbon to Rooney

Billy Manchester November 12 at 12:35 am

Can you afford to wait to dump Ben Foster? You might lose another £0.1-0.2M on him by the time you sell in 1½ weeks time.

Johnny Unitas November 12 at 12:47 am

another good point, maybe if I did Foster-Hart I could get the .4 I need for Agbon to Rooney!! Genius, still only have 1 double gameweek player but will be almost 90% happy with team, then I need to ship Elliott and I think I will have the team I have been working towards, cheers boys

mar November 12 at 12:30 am

any news on when dempsey an hangeland will rise in price? and will murphy be fit for the double? thnks

Billy Manchester November 12 at 12:37 am

Dempsey has had a few rises over the past week or so. Neither of them has an imminent rise, and given the light transfer activity in fallow weeks this should probably last the next few days at least.

Keep an eye on CTC.

mar November 12 at 12:48 am

will murphy be fit for the double. ?

Bram November 12 at 1:58 am

Not 100% sure – will be wait and see closer to the time or check reularly on the tweets.

Injuries and Bans is showing him due back – something is nagging at me I read something that suggested he may be back 2nd game only but I may have dreamt it so find a source closer to the time I’d say.

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:34 am

so over this long international break had long look at up coming fixtures and did a planned tranfer list (no doubt someting will hapen to mess it up)
feel free to give critism etc.
check my team in link for my team at present
planned tranfers
this week : torres and faye > hangeland & rooney (4 point hit)
wk 14: distin > evra
wk 15 : c cole > doyle
wk 16: milner and collins > stevie G and ridgewell (4 point hit)

this will allow me to have following team come wk 16 for the great runs the top 4 have (on paper) and also rest are solid options with good fixtures also
sor/hart
ridgewell, evra, a cole, turner, hangeland
fabregas, dunn, reid, Gerrard, o hara
rooney, doyle, drogba

wat ye tink ?

dbronaldo November 12 at 12:55 am

no love 4 my grand plan? :(

Bram November 12 at 1:35 am

Distin to Evra looks good – Cashley to Evra is probably my transfer this week.

Also looking at possibly bringing in Gerrard.

As I’ll probably of done Cashley to Evra I’ll probably dump Distin to a cheapy option – Dann/Ridgewell/Carr certainly forerunners there.

Also rate Doyle although fixtures are horrid so not decided on what I do with C Cole after the next couple.

So all in all I like it as it looks pretty familiar!

Randy November 12 at 12:35 am

both have got a long, long way to go yet mate. dempsey only went up recently if i remember correctly

mar November 12 at 12:39 am

nice one. any news on when murphy will be fit?

niko November 12 at 12:48 am

Hi guys,

At the moment I have;
Sorensen (Hart)
Vermaelen, Dunne, Shawcross, Bikey (A Cole)
Fabregas, Bullard, Dunn, A Young (O’Hara)
Adebayor, Drogba (C) (Cole)

I have two free transfers but no idea what to do! Any advice really appreciated. Thanks.

X-Ray Dog November 12 at 12:58 am

get rid of Vermaelen, arsenal clean sheets wont happen with upcoming fixtures and adebayor to rooney might be worth a punt if you ask me.

niko November 12 at 1:08 am

Thanks X-Ray Dog

Bram November 12 at 1:44 am

Something along the lines of;
Cashley -> Evra
Verms -> Haneland or other dl GW option.

Would leave you loads of cash in the bank to see how Gerrard gets on – maybe consider Ade to Rooney or get in Ivanovich in a couple of week?

Hope you do well – we have very similar looking teams!

niko November 12 at 2:06 am

Thanks for your help Bram

Immt November 12 at 2:00 am

i have vermaelen too… but i didn’t keep him for clean sheets. but i do agree that evra might be a better option for upcoming fixtures

I’m sure those that did it will not feel the shame they should.

Sympathy to the many Celtic supporters though who I’m sure aren’t scum but will be branded by association.

Disgusting.

dribbler November 12 at 2:07 am

Kind of ironic that davysteen thinks somebody else is uneducated in my opinion.

davysteen November 12 at 2:10 am

yeah, in ur opinion, sure what does that matter to me??

MFaulkner November 12 at 2:28 am

I actually find the sectarian crap spewed all over the comments of that video more disgusting to be honest.

Dino November 12 at 11:49 am

I agree MF, jeez there really are some neanderthols out there eh? :)

Talk about getting wound up? any excuse for some of these guys me thinks.

While I dont agree with the celtic “fans” (that term could be used very loosely for some of these retards) surely if they feel like protesting against a minutes silence then they have the right to do so?

I am not going to get into a debate about semantics but if those who were respecting their soldiers (all brave men) who fought for this independence surely they cannot try deny this independence and right to protest which these brave men have died to protect.

Davy your inflamatary comments do not help this situation so it would probably be better not to comment unless you have something positive to add.

FPL_crazy November 12 at 2:13 am

Hi, How is Drogba’s injury? I saw news saying that he’s not in the Ivory coast team for the WC qualifier. Is his injury very serious? did he break any of his ribs? J.Evans’ kick on his chest indeed looks very painful.

Bram November 12 at 2:20 am

The tweets at the top of the page are your friend ……..

Drogba out of the Ivory Coast squad for the WC qualifier with Guinea but could face Germany in a friendly on Wednesday. http://bit.ly/2ue0oL 14 hrs ago

11nova November 12 at 2:40 am

who do you guys think i should captain this gameweek fabregas or lampard?

TorresMagic November 12 at 2:59 am

Captain the one that isn’t injured or toss a coin?

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 9:35 am

I’m going with Cesc which means u should probably go Lamps. LOL

James C November 12 at 3:05 am

Hey guys, i was the one yesterday who asked for help with this team (was a mistake with rooney – it’s actully saha, not rooney, who makes up the three strikers). Many of you reckon i should wild-card it, which for some reason quite saddened me! Do i really need to wild-card?? (i still have it) Here’s a reminder…

fridel – jensen
shawcross – johnson – dunne – vermaelen – bikey
cattermole – arshavin – noble – diaby – elliot
drogba – torres – saha

me team value is 103.1. could i buy a better team than my current?
ta

TorresMagic November 12 at 3:13 am

Fabs is the 1st player picked. Forget Torres & Diaby. I’m sure you’ll work it out

Bram November 12 at 4:07 am

Looking at your side I’d say;

Keepers
Jensen /Friedl – Fair enough, I prefer two cheap keepers but Friedl has decent fixtures. Sorenson is a favorite but to be fair Stoke have been not keeping the cs either. If you were to WC you could get some money there though to strengthen elsewhere. If you don;t then not a priority area of concern.

Defenders
Shawcross Dunne Bikey – all solid.
* If Johnson is Glenn then could be worth it for attacking points but whether worth the money at present is debatable. If it’s Roger then a decent player.
* Verms – Not sure he’s worth the money but is like GJ.
Evra I suspect will outscore either for a while but again your defence isn;t bad.

Midfield
Definitely your priority area.
* Noble not getting the minutes recently.
* Not having Fabregas will be killing you – get him fast.
* Elliot – fixtures worsening but solid enough for the money.
* Diaby – fitness and the returning players competing for his minutes says get rid.
* Cattermole – out for a while and although huge for Sunderland defensive mids generally aren’t a good plan in FF terms.
Only one I’d really keep from those is any would be Elliot.

Strikers
* Drogba and Torres are Drogba and Torres – nuff said. Torres fitness a concern but of 3 weeks off sorts him he’ll be back to scoring.
* Saha is a fitnerss worry I think, rotation risk with Yakubu back and has horrid fixtures coming.

Playing your WC you could definitely strengthen significantly – if you do then check out the watchlist link at the top of the page.

If not then Arsh to Cesc as your priority. Usual suspect dbl GW players currently also worth looking at. O’Hara even with fixtures getting worse is punching above his price tag.

A few points hits and you can sort out the midfield and maybe keep your WC for the Jan transfer window but equally you could happily get some value from it now.

At the end of the day it’s your call – bit gutted after the injury pain of the last few weeks I’d already used mine so can see the logic of holding onto it but equally not much point having it left at the end of the season.

Hope this helps.

Bram November 12 at 4:13 am

Reading this back although all of your Burnley options are fair enough – having 3 of them with fixtures worsening could hurt a bit.

Feanor November 12 at 3:43 am

How is it that Evans hasn’t been suspended by the FA yet? I thought there was no problem with retrospective punishment if an incident went unnoticed or unpunished by the ref.

Dino November 12 at 10:31 am

feanor I think the fact that the ref dealt with the incident (he yellow carded the perpetrator) means that the whole thing is done and dusted. If you think evans should have gotten some sort of punishment I am in agreement with the ref here in that evans jumped first and drogba needlessy and with nefarious intentions then jumped into evans. The fact that he had his foot out means nothing as far as I am concerned as what drogba as doing (jumping into a guy in mid air) was highly dangerous (which he also would also have known imo) so he should not have a case to answer imo.

Ps. I am not a utd fan by any stretch of the imagination so no bias here.

Gargamel November 12 at 10:46 am

I think Dino is right in this.

I do think that Mr. Evans could try to be a little more careful though :)

Funkyav November 12 at 12:46 pm

so it is ok for a central defender to put his studs into Drogbas chest. Have you not heard of the feet high rule?

Drogba should not have been booked and Evans should have.

U got to love the refereeing, they only got it completely wrong.

SammyC November 12 at 12:52 pm

Drogba definitely went in late with the intention of clattering Evans, so I think he deserved his card, but Evans should definitely get punished.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXpPZ1RsP3Y

Chill Pill November 12 at 12:53 pm

Makes no difference Sammy, Drogba did not kung fu kick Evans, look at where Evans is looking, he was going for the man not the ball.

If drogba deserved a yellow then like you say Evans had to go.

SammyC November 12 at 12:56 pm

Yeah Drogba deserved a yellow, Evans deserved a red (but ref didn’t see, so should get retro punishment), that’s what I meant

Chill Pill November 12 at 12:58 pm

Cool, completely agree.

Dino November 12 at 1:05 pm

the fa can only retro punish (not sure if that is the phrase) a player if the referee has not dealt with and incident. The referee clearly dealt with this incident and thought drogba was in the wrong for jumpng into the defender.

Case dismissed as far as I am concerned :)

Chill Pill November 12 at 1:06 pm

That would only apply if Evans was given a yellow for it.

Andy November 12 at 1:10 pm

Only if the referees says he didn’t see the actual action Chill. He must have done because he awarded Dider a yellow card, I agree that Evans should have received something.

But the report would be out long before now (they’re normally in and ruled on by the Tuesday) if there was even a whisper of it, so ‘unfortunately’, it has passed.

Chill Pill November 12 at 1:13 pm

Andy do you believe that he would have seen Evans stud him and do nothing?

That’s my only explination for it, he can’t have possibly seen it.

Andy November 12 at 1:25 pm

I don’t know Chill, but the timescales are way too late for it even to matter.

If the case was to be reviewed (whoever gets the referee’s report) on the Monday I think, if they notice anything missing (though there’ll be mention of some coming together and I bet they view that sufficient anyway) they then ask the ref to view the tapes and say what they would have done pretty pronto.

None of this has happened yet, by now the time for appeal would have even passed by – I just think it’s something that’s done and dusted.

Pat November 12 at 3:22 pm

Seems conclusive that Drogba is going behind (not through) and Evans tries to slow him up with the high boot. If Evans misses the header, Drogba is through on goal.

AmeliesDad November 12 at 12:59 pm

It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. But a free kick to ManU and a yellow each would have been fairer I’d have thought. Drogba would not have had his chest near Evans feet if he hadn’t been trying to hurt him.

Not a lot of point discussing it yet again though is there? The Man U fans and Chelsea or Drogba haters will go one way and the Chelsea fans and Man U haters the other. I don’t think it leaves many neutrals to even have an opinion.

Chill Pill November 12 at 12:50 pm

Dino you are wrong, the ref booked Drgba not Evans so it’s not done and dusted although it is because nothing will happen to him as he is a United player.

Graham Poll has said that he should have been red carded, that says it all.

Dino November 12 at 1:02 pm

I dont think so chill I think the right guy was booked but that is only my personal opinion. I thin drogba jumped in with malicious intent and if he had not decided to try and do evans he would not have gotten injured or a yellow card.

As far as I am concerned drogba got what he deserved and evans is very fortunate he was able to protect himself as he could have been seriously injured. Even in rugby (which is a considerably tougher sport with more physical contact) you cannot tackle a player when he is in the air as they recognise how dangerous it can be.

If drogba had a chance of winning the ball and evans did that then I would say fair enough evans would have to go but when he was only protecting himself I have to favour the kid.

SammyC November 12 at 1:07 pm

While I agree that Drogba was at fault, if you look at the link I pasted you can see that Evans isn’t just protecting himself.

Andy November 12 at 1:08 pm

Yeah, Drogba was quite clearly in the wrong with what he did – but it seems undeniable to me that Evans did kick him in the chest.

SammyC November 12 at 1:08 pm

cocked up the bold :D

Was meant to be “isn’t just protecting himself” – he was definitely trying to hurt Drogba too

Dino November 12 at 1:14 pm

i hear ya sammy and there was probably (more than likely) a bit of that in it also but if you were 3 – 4 foot in the air and a 15stone drogba was about to charge into you I think you would be looking at him also? If he was able to jump clear the ball with his head and spin kick drogba on purpose the guy is bruce lee in disguise.

Silly debate in any case as I think the ef saw the incident and dealt with it as he saw fit so their cannot be any retro punitive measures. He does not have to see the incident the way you might see it he just has to see it and deal with it. The ony retro action that is ever taken is when something happens off the ball or in an incident that the referee is unsighted for.

Time to agree to disagree and move on fella’s :)

SammyC November 12 at 1:20 pm

Yeah, no point discussing any further everything’s been said now, and nothing’s gonna happen. At least it happened to Drogba and not someone nicer like Torres or Crouch :)

Dino November 12 at 1:25 pm

it would be some jump to catch crouch in the chest

Keith November 12 at 4:12 am

i could swear milner went up 0.1 last night even though he’s protected. what a surprise.

Keith November 12 at 4:14 am

pleasant surprise. his selling price has moved from 7.1 to 7.2 for me. feel bad for anyone who’d planned on bringing him in though. totally escaped both CTC and he who must not be named(frank)

Bram November 12 at 4:51 am

Lol didn’t realise he’d become Voldafrank – guess I best not ask here why then.

Frank November 12 at 10:34 am

lol Bram it’s just Chill Pill trying to scare-monger people into not mentioning my system because I criticised him once, don’t worry.

Keith, yes, my system missed it too. The protection periods only usually have an effect on the drops section, because when people are injured they tend to fall. As a result, the drops and the protection sections are grouped together in my plan of action. This week I should finish both off (one needs the other) and then it’ll be accurate.

The fact that Milner went up helps me to work out the protection rules, it’s all good.

RaspingDrive November 12 at 6:54 am

Good spot Keith. Will defintely help when I decide to ship Milner out before GW16.

Keith November 12 at 9:35 am

why ship out milner. i would agree with getting rid of villa defenders but villa’s fixtures are’nt that difficult for milner, apart from manu away

RaspingDrive November 12 at 10:46 am

Because I want to get Lamps in

TorresMagic November 12 at 7:00 am

Hi Guys, had a few problems logging in but seems ok now, site seems pretty slow. I know its early but I’m after a few ideas for next GW. GJ & Cole are the obvious ones in defence & Keogh in attack. Have one free trade & might even take a 4 pt hit.
http://fantasy.premierleague.c.....c?id=11528
Any suggestions are most welcome.

Arsene November 12 at 7:43 am

My initial thoughts are that you will be hurt by your lack of (fit) chelsea players this wk. You obviously have the cash to upgrade Arshavin to Lampard? or to bring in Drogba for Keogh (with a downgrade elsewhere).

My opinion on A cole is that he is a keeper for the long term (assuming he is only out for the wolves game). All those selling him will surely buy him back the second he has a big wk which I’m sure won’t be long (probably at the expense of a 4point hit to get him out and another to get him back in the second he does something). with 5mil in the bank you hardly need the cash elsewhere so no harm in him warming the bench for a wk. I’d be selling GJ sooner than A Cole.

Overall I think your strike force looks weak. Downgrade either G Johnson (Evra/Fulham def – not sure on the sums) or Arshavin (dempsey etc) and upgrade Keogh to Drogba/ Rooney.

OR

Just do Arsh to LAmpard.

Immt November 12 at 7:46 am

i would sell one of GJ or Cole (might depend on how much you got them at) for ivanovic/o’shea, and use the money to sub rooney in for keoth. if keogh sells for 4.5, with your 5.6 in bank, you only need to make 0.9 from your defender downgrade to get rooney.

linoleum November 12 at 8:36 am

Perhaps to mainstream but GJ to Hangeland and Keogh to Drog. Boring but probably effective.

TorresMagic November 12 at 8:53 am

Thanks Guys, all interesting thoughts. My initials thoughts are to go with “linoleum’s” choices although Rooney seems the new striker to get due to fixtures. Drogba to me is the man to have especially with his next game vs Wolves. GJ will probably have to go. I got him at 7.7 so no gain/loss. I ended up getting Arsh for Lampard just before he hit form FF wise. I guess I’m waiting for Arsh to fire. Maybe RVP to Rooney could be an option later. Only player is Keogh that worries me money wise but losing 0.1-2 is minimal considering I’d be making the trades close to GW start.

Dino November 12 at 10:48 am

johnson to hughes/hangeland imo and then arshavin to lamps/stevie g in a couple of weeks.

Either that or take a hit and do arsh to lamps this week also (but they have a couple of sticky fixtures after this so might not be worth it).

You could also take that hit (after doing GJ to hughes) to get in drogba and stevie g (or lamps and rooney) for doyle and arsh if you wanted but I think this might be a good move over time. Might even leave you enough spare cash to upgrade turner to ivanovich.

this would leave your gk the same

cole, ivanovich, hughes, dunne, ricketts

lamps/stevieg, fab, dunn, hunt, o’hara

bent, rvp, drogba/rooney

Very nice imo if you wanted to go all chelsea and utd in defence you could also probably go dunne to o’shea (evans at a gamble).

you would have to play 3 strikers in every game so no point having 5 excellent mids as you can only play 4 max at a time and likewise with decent budget options in midfield and few budget cs options having 2-3 top end def might be the way to go?

TorresMagic November 12 at 6:54 pm

Thanks Dino, I like your train of thought. I would only go with a 4 pt hit at the max. Doubling up on Chelsea defenders along with Lampard could work out. Couldn’t see myself getting Gerrard until all is well. Turner is another player I’d like to change in the short term. I’ll have a good think about it over the next week.

Dino November 13 at 9:55 am

no probs TM, I would not be too worried about doubling up on chelsea def once the ars, man city, games are out of the way as they have a nice run for a good while after as I think until the last 6 games of the season (ARS, EVE, eve, AST are their tough games until gw33 that is a 17 game run :) )

Man utd also have a nice run in this stretch (as you probably know) so if they show some cs promise then they might be worth a look also.

keotes November 12 at 7:09 am

Would like to know your thoughts about my team…

1: Sorensen
2: Ivanovic 3: Baines 4: Vermaelen
5: Fabregas 6: Kuyt 7: Dunn 8: Dempsey(C)
9: Van Persie 10: Bent 11: Saha

12: Jensen 13: Dunne 14: Cohen 15: Bikey

1) Am I crazy, considering putting bent on the bench and playing Dunne?
2) I’m planning to go heavy on Man U after wk 13. Rooney and Evans for Saha and Baines. Will make a move for Valencia later.

What do you reckon? Strengths, weaknesses?

olivebj November 12 at 7:17 am

kuyt gotta go not performing for that price and yer once u get rooney itll look alot better

Pompeyskills November 12 at 7:48 am

What’s everyones thoughts on Valencia? Obv gamble and risk of rotation but could be a good one to be on early?

Arsene November 12 at 7:55 am

Think you said it, obvious gamble and risk of rotation. I don’t think it’s worth it but could be a good differential if you did.

Sierra Hotel November 12 at 7:58 am

Hi folks,

Can anybody inform me what the usual Stoke defensive line-up is (when Ab Feye is back). I would normally expect to see Higginbotham or Wilkinson in there as the 2nd fullback, but Huth’s introduction seems to have shaken that up – but then I thought when he arrived they started playing 5-3-2 with Huth, Shawcross and Ab Feye, allowing for two other defenders…

Andy November 12 at 8:12 am

Four at the back: Huth, Shawcross, Faye, Collins.

Evs November 12 at 8:30 am

obvious quesion… should I bring in Ivanovic for Cole NOW before price drop ?

Pocky November 12 at 8:39 am

Evs, I looked at your team transfer history, and from what I can see, you’ve had Cole from day 1, meaning you paid 7.0 million for him. If this is so, then you won’t lose any money on him when he drops from 7.3 to 7.2. So you can afford to wait. However, you will need to sell him before he drops to 7.1 to avoid losing out.

si November 12 at 8:50 am

Definitely not yet IMO. Cole may well be fit for the next game yet? Wait on confirmation. And I can see Belleti or Ferreira giving chelsea a more attacking right back against Wolves. Then Ivanovic will play at arsenal and city….tough games for clean sheets.

Aaron November 12 at 9:11 am

Guys do you think i should go for schwarzer and ivanovic or hart and carvalho? i already have a fulham defender and was thinkin carvalho would be a safer bet than ivanovic. Then its a question of which GK do i pick between Hart and Sorensen?

tosey November 12 at 9:27 am

why is everyone going for expensive chelsea defenders? surely people have learned this season that cheap defenders are the way to go with the money being spent further up the pitch?

Keith November 12 at 9:33 am

chelsea is the only side in the league offering clean sheets. and manu look set for a run of clean sheets too. cheap defenders are’nt doing so well. all u are guaranteeing with cheap defenders is 2 points a week and the odd goal, cause apart from manu and chelsea no one looks capable of offering clean sheets. will be a gr8 differential having a.cole and evra imo, cause i can see every otehr side offerin 2 pointers in defense, so 6 points from these two will be invaluable.

tosey November 12 at 9:35 am

i dont agree. i think having sorensen and faye/shawcross for the season and then picking a goalie and defender from a team with good alternating fixtures to stoke will work. not even chelsea are gauranteeing clean sheets this season and their next 2 away games are arsenal and man city. to spend 5m+ on a defender seems madness to me

Keith November 12 at 9:39 am

since when are chelsea not offering clean sheets? news to me. they’ll end up with their 20 clean sheets this season which is good enough to justify a.cole’s price tag. not to mention the attacking points he’ll be bringin in too

tosey November 12 at 9:41 am

they dont look as solid as in recent years with the likes of hull going to the bridge and scoring. it is far more prudent to pay less than 4.5m for all of your back 7 and to spend teh extra cash further up field, a look at the teams in the overall top 50 confirms this

Andy November 12 at 9:45 am

You are more than welcome to disagreeing, that’s the world, and it’s ace.

But I must say Hull scored one goal at Stamford Bridge (a rather fortunate one three months ago) and since then Chelsea haven’t conceded at home. That’s one goal this season so far, and they’ve already had to host Liverpool, United and Spurs – quite possibly three of their four hardest attempts at a CS.

Andy November 12 at 9:34 am

Even in this ‘deflated market’ of clean sheets Chelsea have kept four clean sheets in their last five games, and 7 clean sheets so far this season.

Chelsea defenders certainly look like the defensive commodity more than worth their salt.

Keith November 12 at 9:37 am

agree. i’m thinking of going with a defense of
Sorenson Hart
A.Cole Evra Ricketts Ridgewell Mears
and playing 3 at the back every week. still somewhat a budget defense at 33.5 million and will do very well imo

Arsene November 12 at 10:07 am

Totally agree on chelsea defence, worth the investment. At the end of the day 7m is still not a huge investment in trems of the rest of your team. People getting a bit carried away on the ‘no clean sheets’ thing.
A Cole’s current value over the season is marginally less than RVP for instance (7.3 compared to 7.8)

champoz November 12 at 10:12 am

If you already have a cole then your investment is paying good dividends, even though he has been/is injured. If you don’t then you would have to now consider Ivanovic as the best value chelsea defender for approx 3 months. May get rotated a little with Ferreira or Belletti but for under 6m that’s as good as it gets.

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 9:43 am

11 of the next 12 games look bright for chelski def. If u cant afford terry then i lean for carv (another injury risk, tho). I’m looking to evra until week 23 when i finally cut bait on vermaelen. When the ANC hits I believe CHE will begin to spring leaks without essien/drogs.

tosey November 12 at 9:44 am

out of interest, which of arsenal and man city away looks ‘bright’ ?

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 10:08 am

arsenal certainly not favorable but man city still searching for their potential…i was actually looking long term clean sheet potential with MU/CHE..i havent been able to pick a cleanie, with any degree of certainty, from any other team so far…

Gargamel November 12 at 10:20 am

What you fail to recognise here is that the cheaper defenders aren’t doing well either; so if there is a chance to find a defender which can score highly for you I think you should take it.

To be honest, only one defender out of the top10 scoring defender costs under 5, and only two costs under 6.

tosey November 12 at 10:29 am

the point im making though is that it is more prudent to have a cheap defence that scores slightly lower, with teh money saved being used further up the pitch. and as said before, a look at the top 50 teams proves that a cheap defence with teh money spent on midfielders and attackers is the way forward

Gargamel November 12 at 10:36 am

Yes, I understand your point and I agree with it to some extent. I just think that Chelsea defenders still are worth the money, and I also think a MUN defender will be worth it over the coming gameweeks.

Another thing I think is that those in the top50 now will be replaced sooner or later, so I don’t look much at teams of people I don’t know or like. And also, just because something is happening right now it doesn’t mean that it will be happening forever. Expensive defenders have been good for the past three seasons, this season is the exception and not the rule.

tosey November 12 at 10:40 am

time will tell i guess. and with regards to teh top 50 i dont plan on dropping out anytime soon ;)

Dino November 12 at 11:02 am

well said gargamel and andy et al

I am not surprised to see peoples teams in the top 50 having similar strategies as we are still in short term gamble territory where points are concerned. Over a full season (we are only just over a quarter of the way through) these high risk strategies will fall down and the more consistent game player will rise to the top.

I am not saying expensive defenders are the way to go but some analysis over the summer suggested that it most definitely was the best value (points per million spent) strategy.

Whether this season will be different due to the new ball or whether chelsea can maintain there cs form (they are heading for 22 cs for a full season based on their avg so far) remains to be seen but I think the point the guys are making is that if you knew the rest of the defenders were unlikely to get to 10cs (the cheaper ones) and you could get more than double their cs for less than double the money it seems a no brainer to go with the big defenders.

ben November 12 at 12:47 pm

thank you! people look at the leaders and see their teams as those which will perform well. Theirs are the teams that HAVE performed well, and there is no guarantee they will continue to do so. I reckon if you look at the past few seasons, the top50 players come season end were not so high up after week 11…

RaspingDrive November 12 at 10:49 am

I wouldn’t necessarily say it is the way forward Tosey, the way up until now, sure. But the way ManU and Chelsea’s fixtures look, it could be time to jump on the defences

teddyshardlow November 12 at 9:21 am

Morning all,

Been planning to bring in Hughes for the DGW, but now wondering whether as a short term bid one of the other Fulham defenders might be a better option.

Everyone’s talking about Hangeland, but I’m a little reluctant because I suspect it’s just nostalgia for last season. Pantsil might as well be Hughes but no-one seems to be mentioning the freekick taking leftback…

What about Konchesky?

Dino November 12 at 11:06 am

teddy I would go with the cheaper option as the point scoring is likely to be very similar (hughes was not very far behind hangeland last year) and this also give you more flexibility for future transfers (having a float in the bank so to speak).

RaspingDrive November 12 at 9:24 am

Hart and Carvalho, imo. Brum difficult to score against, and Carvalho seems to have bedded in nicely as one of Ancelotti’s favourites. Ivanovic, though tempting, is too much of a risk imo. I was thinking of doubling up on Chelsea defenders but then realised I wouldn’t be able to get Lamps without selling Drogs. Still possible I guess, Drogs for Rooney, but I would want to see evidence of Rooney hotting some real hot run of form.

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 9:53 am

I really want to dump drogfloppa and jump on rooney’s back but will probably wait until ANC (i may certainly regret this). Both teams remaining fixtures look delicious. Hoping i can afford anelka/rooney in Jan.

RaspingDrive November 12 at 9:27 am

Sorry, that was a message for Aaron.

Teddy, I would go for Hughes solely based on price. People say Hangeland is a BP magnet. Could be true, haven’t checked this season.

Keith November 12 at 9:42 am

i would go and have gone for hughes/pantsil too. last season hangeland got bonus points and the odd goal. fulham have just 3 favorable game weeks, after which u’ll want to get rid. hangeland may outscore em by 2-3 points. not worth the extra outlay. hughes/pantsil can be left on ur bench for he difficult fixtures too while hangeland takes up too much of your funds to stay on the bench.

teddyshardlow November 12 at 9:51 am

But why not Konchesky, he’s got a piledriver for a left foot.

Price isn’t much of a problem cos I’m getting rid after 3 GWs.

RaspingDrive November 12 at 10:32 am

Depends if you can better use the 0.7 elsewhere in your team. If as you say it isn’t importany then go for it. At least there’s a chance I guess that Konchesky might stick one in

Dino November 12 at 11:09 am

thats the point teddy, you will HAVE to get rid in three weeks as their will be too much money tied up in a fulham def. What if you get injuries or someone hits serious form and you want to bring them in in the mean time? you will either have to take a 4pt hit to take out the ful defender or else miss out. Whereas if you have hughes then you have more flexibility as you could leave him on the bench until you get a chance to sell.

teddyshardlow November 12 at 11:43 am

I hear ya. Flexibility is a good thing, it will also mean in the meantime I have more cash in the bank for other options, although I need to make 3-5 changes to my defence over the next 4-5 gameweeks anyway… So Hughes sounds like the sensible option.

Anyone want to explain why Hangeland is likely to score more points?

Andy November 12 at 11:48 am

He doesn’t score often, but he can – and is more likely to get his head on the end of a corner or free-kick than Hughes.

He’s also a bonus charmer, he’s not in the Cesc stakes but he gets a reasonable level of notice from the ‘judges’ through the season .

Dino November 12 at 11:58 am

his goal scoring record is not that hot andy (1:62 for fulham and 0:56 for norway which are the only decent level matches he has played) so the only way he will outscore hughes is through bonus pts while this can be partially offset by his higher chance of bookings also.

There is no doubt about it hangeland has more potential but hughes is not going to be too far behind him imo

SammyC November 12 at 11:54 am

I’ve got Hangeland in purely for the bonuses. Just had a quick look a the chalkboards for this season, and Hughes hasn’t had a single shot on goal, Hangeland’s had a couple of attempts from the 6 yard box, and Paintsil and Konchesky have had a few more but from worse positions. None of them are likely to score imo, but Hange has a great track record of bps.

I’ve got the money to upgrade him to a Chelsea defender in a few weeks so I’ve ignored value and just gone for the one who will score the most points, even if it’s just 1 or 2 bonus points being the difference.

teddyshardlow November 12 at 12:17 pm

Then isn’t Konchesky a better option? He’s outscored Hangeland so far this season.

All aboard the Hangeland anti-bandwagon!

Andy November 12 at 12:23 pm

Hangeland is more likely to score bonus than Konchesky getting a goal, I’m not saying it won’t happen… but it barely ever does. His only goal in all of last season was a speculative 40 yard screamer, we at least know Hangeland is up there for set pieces.

I personally don’t expect any of them to score in such a short spell, but if Fulham ‘manage’ to keep clean sheets then Brede has a half decent chance of racking up some BP.

Dino November 12 at 12:32 pm

yes what andy says teddy.

To add to that konch is also a red/yellow card risk so all in all I think I would go for hughes for the flexibility and hangeland if money is no object.

SammyC November 12 at 12:35 pm

I think you missed my point entirely there, I don’t think any of them are very likely to score (and if one does, it could be any one of Hange/Konchesky/Paintsil), which is why I’ve gone for the bonus points – we all know who they’re going to.

PS. Hangeland scored against Roma already this year if anyone cares/didn’t know already

Aaron November 12 at 9:49 am

Yeah thanks, gonna go for hart & carvalho. I played my wildcard this wk and also have brought in hangeland as he has picked up 7 bonus points so far, not bad for a defender.

Team now looks like this:
Hart
Evra Hangeland Carvalho Dunne
Dunn Fabs Dempsey
Drogba Rooney Bent
(Etherington, Ohara, Zayatte, Sorensen)

Opinions welcome?

Carling2K November 12 at 9:56 am

Nice team generally. i can see you needing to change Dempsey, Etherington and Hangeland in the coming weeks but the rest look good long term players so that should be achievable.

You have quite a lot of cash in the def so i guess youre betting on an increase in CS’s from now on…?

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 10:00 am

looks like a fairly diversified team..def very strong..mids good through gw16..forwards vn. Are planning to toss demps/ether before gw17 and replace with ….?

Aaron November 12 at 10:39 am

yea i will need to change a few players before gw17, i know i have quite an expensive def with that team but it works well with playin 2cheap mids in dunn and dempsey comin up to the dgw+most of my def have reasonable fixtures comin up(bar chelseas 2 away games)…

was thinkin matt taylor for dempsey at some point? not sure who to replace hangeland with in wk17?

kathers November 12 at 10:53 am

Ricketts?

kathers November 12 at 10:51 am

I like your team more than mine. 7 of your preferred team are the same as mine, but you have Carvalho/Rooney/Bent/Hart instead of Hunt (Double GW), RvP, Milner and Sorensen (your bench).
I would love your team for this GW, but Zayatte for Bent (I t/f him out in GW8 after he scored 18, and curse him and all those that have him)

Aaron November 12 at 11:18 am

yea i dont know whether to play zayatte cos of dgw…dont really wanna take out any of my players tho!?

i have had bent from the start, really rewardin early on but since everyone has jumped on the bandwagan im not sure if i should take a chance on someone else…saha or carew maybe?

Dhubanmonkey November 12 at 10:04 am

Any idea on Danny Murphy anyone. I would rather buy him for the double game week than Dempsey but I can’t find out if he is likely to be back or not?

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 10:13 am

seems like they’re keeping it quiet a la c. cole and WH

RaspingDrive November 12 at 10:30 am

I am of the same opinion as you. What worries me is that, even if fit, he is unlikely to be back to his best. Also is Hodgson going to play him twice in a week when straight back after injury. He’s no spring chicken our Danny.

Dempsey is scoring well, but with 4 successive games with 6 pts+ per game, there’s a risk that his purple patch may be coming to an end.

Then we have the injury-prone Duff. If he can get through the Ireland games without any problem, I reckon I just might go for him to replace Kuyt in my team for the short-term.

Frank November 12 at 10:53 am

I would stick with Dempsey.

Typically scores the same points as Murphy and pretty much guaranteed to play both games.

I’ve had Dempsey for ages now and even though he had a slow start he was still having an extraordinary number of shots and he’s started to be rewarded.

Edmund Burqa November 12 at 10:59 am

completely agree…i like the duff idea and u can always bring kuyt back gw 17 but u will miss kuyt’s chance to shine with torres/benny onions out. GJ actually is playing well in attack and Ngog has almost mastered one of stevieg’s “skillz”

MTPockets November 12 at 11:59 am

Well I’m gonna take a gamble on Murphy anyhow.
Maybe drop distin too – for alexander as a punt, as completely given up on consistent defender points. Will leave me
Sorensen (Hart)
Shawcross, Dunne, Alexander (Foley)
Fabregas, Lampard, Dunn, Murphy (Cohen)
RVP, Drogba, Defoe

byeronaldo November 12 at 10:09 am

Hi guys, have already made one change this week and would appreciate any opinions on my team or where it could be improved?

Hart / Sorenson
Evra / ACole / Distin / Dunne / Bikey
Fabregas / Dempsey / Dunn / Hunt / O’Hara
RVP / Adebayor / CCole

I have 5.3 in the bank and am considering shipping out one of the two Coles. Am thinking maybe Hangeland or Ivanovic at the back and possibly Drogba or Rooney up front. Probably only want to make on more change though.

Gargamel November 12 at 10:23 am

Strong team. I’d really want an attacking Chelsea player in there. Drogba in for Ade would be the logical choice.

niko November 12 at 11:14 am

Hi guys,
At the moment I have;
Sorensen (Hart)
Vermaelen, Dunne, Shawcross, Bikey (A Cole)
Fabregas, Bullard, Dunn, A Young (O’Hara)
Adebayor, Drogba (C) (Cole)
Considering a 4 point hit with A Cole – Terry, A Young – Dempsey and Adebayor – Rooney. Any thoughts?

Boss Hogg November 12 at 11:19 am

Anyone thinking about gw17 yet?

No games for Fulham, Stoke, Everton or Hull.

For me that means Dempsey, Shawcross, Distin, Saha and Hunt.

Got to start thinking about getting rid of Distin, Saha and Hunt over the next few weeks.

I’m even considering bringing in Hangeland this week. Is this madness???

tosey November 12 at 11:22 am

aslong as you have a plan to get rid of enough players by gw17 to field a strong team then no its not

Dino November 12 at 11:25 am

In short yes. As over the four gw’s you have to change your team you could get injuries also and do you really want to be wasting transfers you could be using for strategic reason to just ship out a cheap player for another cheap player?

This is where people who make gains in the double gw often lose them in the proceeding weeks.

tosey November 12 at 11:43 am

all depends if you have a longterm (10wks ahead) strategy, if u do then u can plan for a dbl gwk and not suffer as a consequence, if you just overload with dbl gwk without looking at the following fixtures then you will be in trouble

Dino November 12 at 11:53 am

true tosey. Personally I try and allow for eventualities in my strategies as if say you have 5 double players and think you will be able to ship 2 out in the four weeks after the double while benching 3 you could still get caugth out due to injuries/suspensions etc. so I would not like to over expose myself in that situation.

But a man with a plan is better than someone just randomly transferring in players alright :)

ben November 12 at 1:13 pm

yeah I agree. I will have hunt, zayatte, distin, sorenson, zamora in that boat. Im planning on selling distin for evra for GW 14, then hunt for o’hara GW 15, leaving me with 2 players to bench. Barring injuries to 2 other players, I should be fine I rate. I will also have the chance to transfer zayatte out for someone not as shit
