As I plan for a Christmas getaway, I thought now would be an apt time to remind everyone this is the last gameweek we head into where our suspension tighrope should cause you many sleepless nights. The facts are these…

Gameweek 19 kicks off on Boxing Day and when all is said done, and we all usher ourselves back to our roosts full up with more turkey than we could even dream of, any player with four yellow cards to their name (or less) will no longer have to serve a one-match ban (that affects us managers) when they receive their fifth yellow card.

As you can see from the tightrope we have it detailed as the cut-off being December 31st, and that is no word of a lie. However if you are playing a fantasy game where the FA Cup isn’t relative to you (hands up two million FPL players), then if players were to get their fifth yellow card in the following fixtures (gameweek 20) they would actually “only” miss their clubs FA Cup games on the weekend of January 2nd.

So what big names are left hanging for one last week? Agbonlahor & Young of Aston Villa spring to mind, Shawcross & Cohen owners will hope they keep their tackle to themselves this weekend so as to be ready for the impending doublegameweek and bargain basement O’Hara still walks gingerly across the tightrope too. At Chelsea Ashley Cole and Drogba edge closer to safety and Wayne Rooney of United need only surive one more game too.

There are plenty more names in that list, so check it out in the right hand toolbar of your page and keep yourself abreast of what’s going down. If you were planning on buying Kevin-Prince Boateng and co, fingers crossed for you all. After this weekend we can all rest that little bit easier. Well, unless you own players like Scotty Parker. That man loves yellow cards.

Oh, and if this is the last contribution to the site from me before the weekend – Merry Christmas to one and all out there in the Scout community from me.

“Alex Chamberlain played three games for the first time in his career. He had a stiff neck at half-time, so I did not want to take a gamble with him. Then we had a problem with Koscielny, and I wanted to give some playing time to Benayoun.”
