Window Watch- Alan Hutton to Sunderland (loan)
Steve Bruce has moved to bolster his leaky defence with the on loan signing of Spurs right back Alan Hutton untill the end of the season. Despite a great start to the 2009-10 campaign, Sunderland have fallen dramatically down the Premiership table, and sit just three points off the drop zone.
One of the main issues is in defence, with the club only managing three clean sheets all season. Bruce’s acquisition of Scottish international Hutton will resultantly see Phil Bardsley lose his first team place as the club look to climb the table.
Hutton, coming in at £4.4m in FPL, is an attack-minded full back, and fans at the Stadium of Light can look forward to seeing him foraging up and down the right wing with menace. With Darren Bent a constant when it comes to goals, Hutton could well grab his fair share of assists too, as he looks to recapture the form that saw Spurs splash out £9m for his services from Glasgow Rangers…
After last night’s Stadium of Light stalemate with Stoke, Sunderland have five home games & one DGW in the next seven gameweeks (WIG, por, ars, FUL, avl & BOL, MCY, BIR) to get their season back on track, with Steve Bruce tweaking the side in an attempt to rediscover that early season form once more.
Hutton should be handed his debut in the clash with Wigan this weekend, an early opportunity to show his potential. With just one clean sheet in the last ten, Steve Bruce’s side have a lot to do to convince us that they warrant defensive investment. Hutton’s attacking abilities and the Black Cat’s fixture list may yet attract our interest.

Sir Paulos is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season.

Bruce did well to get benjani on loan he could be a good addition. Any thoughts?
In the real world, it’s a good move as cover for Bent and Jones. In FF world, not so much.
yeah true. I was talking bout the real world yeah.
Got a feeling he’ll start with Bent upfront. Jones has done nothing in months for Sunderland and Bruce can’t seem to motivate him, especially after his head has been turned by Liverpool.
Still worth £40m though. Incredible!
Looking at getting rid of Gera this week, esp as injured and replacing with a DGW player
Bolton: Lee has 2 x DGW’s
Man City: Petrov – lot sof ppl on here seem to like him
Stoke: Etherington doesn’t appeal
Wigan: already have N’Zog
Playing with mid-field as leaving Roo, Anelka and Drog for following gameweek to see how Drog and Anelka fit together in this mid-week and the following game and also to see who of Tevez or Adebayor might be worth bringing in as a frontline switch.
Any other ideas?
I’m in the same situation as you, looking for a cheap midfielder but downgrading Milner. I thought Tuncay at the start of the week because of good fixtures but Stoke aren’t really on form at the moment so don’t really know who to get in.
Milner from g/w 27 onwards has a good run of games.
But I need to downgrade him so I can get in Drogba for Tevez after his DGW, want him and Rooney up front you see.
think im doing the same thing, havnt given it 2 much thought. Is that my best option though im wondering?? I dont fancy a points hit so its either get rid of milner, pienaar, or anelka
Petrov would be the best option imo by a long way. very good player and i would be shocked to see him dropped to the bench for any league games.
Petrov seems to be a Mancini favorite but now that SWP is back, maybe a rotation risk. Bolton’s DGW26 games are both away, not sure there is a lot of profit for Lee there. I would lean to Petrov of those 2 but you may want to think about doubling up on the Wigan midfield (McCarthy) – 2 home matches in GW26.
Is SWP an option?
For Barry, Ireland or SWP I would need to sell Pienaar not Gera
Adam Johnson will be good – not sure if he’ll start straight away tho. Today’s paper suggested he would against Hull tho…
Left winger and English….. will be interesting to see how he settles into premier league life.
it must be said that the arrival of adebayour and drogs has really clouded the forward market as tevez and anelka will suffer points wise. Least roos bangin em in. I better not have jinxed it and hel be rested against pompey.arrggg
struggling for ideas as to change this week..team will be
hart
gallas,johnson,ivanovic,nelsen
fabregas,milner,malouda
rooney,tevez,anelka
sorensen,nzonzi,diaby,hangeland
was thinking about getting someone from man u because of pompey but there is also man city dgw after this..
any ideas welcome?
No chance Rooney will b rested against Pompey.at worst he wil be taken off early(60-75min) if Manu r comfortable
What makes you so sure?
win against Pompey is not a given ESP wit Manu defence so fergie won’t take any chances.an he knows Rooney hates being rested so at worst i think he will only come off if Manu r winning and chances r he will be involved in the goals
If Kyrgiakos keeps playing the way he is will he keep Agger out the team?
the likelihood is if agger gets back in the team it will be for skrtel at the moment. although eventually it is likely that the centre-back pairing will morph into carragher-agger gradually with kyriagkos only getting the odd game if liverpool are playing a long ball team like stoke.
Just beat me to it AB haha.
Doubling up with Birmingham defenders + Hart for a few weeks. Good or terrible idea?
You can try. Triple the reward if you get clean sheet…. and vice versa.
neody care to advise me on my team for the week ahead. I havnt reallt thought about transfers yet has it will rack my brains all week as I want to at least wait till Drogbs protections up to make a change. Contemplating getting rid of milner pienaar or a striker for tevez or drogs.
How’s the chelsea line-up? Am hearing Kalou will come in.
