It appears we can count Cesc Fabregas out of our gameweek plans with Arsene Wenger today declaring that it would take a “miracle” for his skipper to step out onto the KC stadium surface on Saturday.

Fabregas was regarded as 50-50 for the weekend prior to Wednesday’s Champions League win over Porto. Those odds have somewhat shortened over the last 24 hours according to the Arsenal boss…

“His chances of playing are 0.5 per cent – that means unless a miracle happens, he will not play. At the moment, Cesc is out of Saturday’s game.”

Should Fabregas miss out we can expect Samir Nasri to continue in a central midfield role, allowing the likes of Arshavin, Eduardo, Walcott, Eboue and Rosicky to fight it out for starts flanking Bendtner up front.

Rosicky has emerged as the lastest doubt for the Gunners though – he has a slight groin problem to add to Wenger’s concerns over the availability of Campbell and Sagna.

It will be interesting to see if the news on Fabregas filters through enough to have a continued impact on transfers this week. Owned by over 40% of Fantasy Premier League managers, Fabregas is already leading this weeks “transferred out” rankings with over 44,000 getting rid to this point. With James Milner the obvious replacement for this gameweek and Frank Lampard offering a double fixture next gameweek, there are clear options for those who balk at the idea of having a 12 million player weighing down the bench come Saturday.
