Dust off your chat hats folks, the dugout discussion is open once more for Fantasy Football Scout’s very own pre-season warm-up – the Community Shield kicks off this afternoon and we’re here to welcome the chatroom back from it’s summer siesta.

Manchester United and Chelsea will both be walking out onto the new Wembley turf in the last big pre-season fixture of the summer, there’s even a shiny plate shaped trophy at stake. However, Birmingham City did win a trophy for beating the might of Beijing Guoan just a few weeks ago themselves….

Still, this our last chance to scout the pre-season Market and two of the hot property teams are putting their wares before us. Is Malouda worth £9.5m? How offensive is £7.0m man Essien? Just exactly what is Manchester United’s likely 11? Hopefully this fixture will give us some clues to those, and many more, questions we are having. It may be a pre-season friendly, but the managers will still very much want the bragging rights of victory here.

Carlo of Chelsea already announced the Chelsea line-up days ago, and now Sir Alex has shown his hand -including an incredible recovery from Michael Carrick- the teams are in…

Chelsea: Hilario, Ferreira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Essien, Mikel, Lampard, Kalou, Anelka, Malouda

Manchester United: Van der Sar; O’Shea, Vidic, Evans, Fabio; Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Park; Rooney, Owen

Use this here article to talk about all the goings on this afternoon as Messrs. Ferguson and Ancelloti go head to head once more, or follow this here link to make sure I’m not the only lonely soul in the chatroom with a pen and pencil scouting this game. After all, there is less than six days until Fantasy Premier League lock-down.

“Alex Chamberlain played three games for the first time in his career. He had a stiff neck at half-time, so I did not want to take a gamble with him. Then we had a problem with Koscielny, and I wanted to give some playing time to Benayoun.”
