ICT Analysis – United Under Scrutiny
Filed under: Members, Statistics - Posted by: Mark
Our Members got the first round of ICT Index Data at the weekend, enabling them to assess the statistical performance of players across three crucial disciplines – Influence, Creativity and Threat.
Week by week we’ll be using this data to analyse teams and players in an attempt to aid Fantasy team selection. Our first article for Gameweek One turns the attention away from City’s sparkling 4-0 win over Swansea and looks to the reigning Champions, examining how Alex Ferguson’s men performed in their 2-1 win at West Brom and assessing the key performers on show ahead of their Monday night meeting with Spurs in Gameweek two.
Commenting is now closed for this post.
“I would like to say, on behalf of Manchester United, congratulations to our neighbours. It is the hardest league in the world and anyone who wins it deserves it.”
Sir Alex Ferguson congratulates City on their dramatic title win

Burton says:
Riddle me this (please)-
α)Tate, Baines, Yaya & Torres; or
β)Brown, Bosingwa, Young & Aguero.
I already have Silva, and have no Chelsea/ManU cover other than the above.
August 19 at 6:47 pm
Phil_McMahon says:
B, by far in my opinion.
August 19 at 6:47 pm
Burton says:
That’s where I’m headed I think. α is really just about getting Baines in somehow. Cheers.

DV8R says:
Does anyone else have this feeling that Torres will be rotated against West Brom and come on as a sub? Surely Lamps is a safer player to have?
August 19 at 6:44 pm
Xabi - join 15269-75402: 100 places, first come, first served says:
Yep, lamps is safer for sure – who knows out of Torres and Drogba who will start, could be one or both of them.
August 19 at 6:46 pm
Scratch says:
He is the safer option. I still think Torres will start though.
August 19 at 6:44 pm
Scratch says:
Aguero’s in the predicted lineups I see. At the expense of Adam Johnson. So presumably you expect him to play rw forward?
August 19 at 6:45 pm
Xabi - join 15269-75402: 100 places, first come, first served says:
He’ll play off Dzeko i’d imagine, unless Balotelli gets a recall.
Who knows, we’ve only seen him for 20mins, but what a 20 mins that was.
August 19 at 6:48 pm
Matt_ says:
32mins*
August 19 at 7:04 pm
Scratch says:
I just don’t see that myself. Mancini’s the most conservative manager in the league so it’d be very unlike him to A. Change a winning system now and B. To play 2 strikers in an away match.
August 19 at 6:45 pm
Caboose says:
2 midfielders for 15.5?
August 19 at 6:44 pm
Matt_ says:
Short or long term?
If short term, how many GWs?
Details are the key!
August 19 at 6:49 pm
Xabi - join 15269-75402: 100 places, first come, first served says:
VDV, Moses + 0.5mill
Moses, Dyer + 6mill
Downing, Anderson
Cahill + Moses…
Seriously, there’s so many options its unreal. May aswell ask best 15 players for 100mill and be done with it.
August 19 at 6:46 pm
Matt_ says:
Fulham or Stoke defence for GW 2? Cheers.
August 19 at 6:47 pm
User says:
Both teams have been very good defensively but I’d go with Fulham as I’m backing Norwich to score.
August 19 at 6:48 pm
Xabi - join 15269-75402: 100 places, first come, first served says:
Both good, but both away so a tough call.
I’d pick the player with the most goal threat from which ever club you have and go with that. Or play both and drop a weak mid.
August 19 at 6:49 pm
Phil_McMahon says:
Stoke this week. Probably both next week, but Stoke are the best choice for next.
August 19 at 6:55 pm
Matt_ says:
I have Shawcross and Senderos.

Please RMT
Given (Vorm)
Lescott, Boswinga, De Laet (S taylor senderos)
Nzog, Sessegnon, Silva, Nani(vc) (moses)
Suarez, Torres(c), Fletcher
Have 0.5 in the bank
My df is a bit weak looking to swap out senderos & taylor for Woodgate and Enrique
suggestions welcome please
August 19 at 6:51 pm
Xabi - join 15269-75402: 100 places, first come, first served says:
i dont see why anyone would keep 0.5 in the bank and be playing a norwich defender – there are so many good 4.5 shouts i’d use that and get rid.
very good team though, Torres (c) is a gamble, but a lot of people going that way so could pay off.
August 19 at 6:58 pm
Matt_ says:
Play Senderos, not De Laet.
August 19 at 7:00 pm
seanie3 says:
can you give me some pointers then on who I should swap him out for or who is weak in defence and swap out for..
August 19 at 6:59 pm
Matt_ says:
You could do Lescott > Kompany, and use the .5 + your remaining .5 to do De Laet > Shawcross as Stoke are solid.
August 19 at 6:51 pm
J_K says:
Sorry if its already been mentioned but can anyone tell me how the hell Lukaku could start tomorrow when he doesn’t appear to even be in the FPL system?! He could be one hell of a cheeky gamble (if he existed in the game
)
August 19 at 6:57 pm
Xabi - join 15269-75402: 100 places, first come, first served says:
I’d love it if AVB went to bring on Lukaku but the ref refused to allow it as FPL havent added him into the game yet.
It could happen seeing as they spent so much money on him an di have no idea why FPL havent put him in the game, i can only assume he doesnt have a squad number so hence is eligible to play a game. Seems strange though.
He is the ‘new drogba’ so you’d have thought it would be a while until he plays with the actual drogba still there fighting for pitch time with torres.
August 19 at 6:58 pm
J_K says:
I can just imagine the uproar if he does play and bag a few. Another week of free transfers to make up for it?
Cheers for the reply, just joined your league
August 19 at 6:58 pm
Matt_ says:
Xabi, you seem to know what you’re doing, what is your opinion on VDV?
August 19 at 7:04 pm
TheMightyQuinn says:
Does Muamba have a starting place at Bolton? Rate him?
Need a 5M mid other than Moses.
August 19 at 7:15 pm
J_K says:
Muamba is madly defensive don’t let the goal last week fool you. 5 or less midfielders you’re pretty much restricted to Dyer, Faurlin, Moses (attacking but in poor teams) or Lucas, Mikel.
Mikel’s hatful of PPI points last week was interesting… and I think he’s a pretty nailed on starter for Chelsea until Essien’s fit and they’ve got good fixtures.

Is My Subs Order And captain Choice a Good One?
August 19 at 7:31 pm

Seems fine to me. I was so unimpressed with Arsenal though I’ve actually opted to start Enrique against them. Could prove a mistake of course…
August 19 at 7:14 pm
Matt_ says:
+1 this if you expect VDV to do well at Man Utd.
-1 this if you don’t
I would just like to get a general idea of what you guys think.
Any reasons would be appreciated, cheers.

not sure myself. perhaps he’ll score once or twice considering man utd have a weakened defence and more importantly de gea seems to be troubled with long shots.

Personally i cant see much i can improve there. Perhaps changing young but i’m a ST holder at united and i think he’s going to run riot against spurs on monday so am reluctant to get rid…thoughts fellas??

Also I’m thinking Saha should come in, but not sure who should go on the bench for him?

Nani-17 says:
Given (Ruddy)
A.Cole, Kompany, Brown (Hughes, Simpson)
Malouda, N’Zogbia, Jarvis, Sinclair (Hoolohan)
Torres, Bent, Saha.
Thinking is as follows:
A. Cole has 2 good home games, and is a guaranteed starter (Boswinga isn’t).
Malouda will start on the left of a front three (hopefully).
The smaller players, like Sinclair (pens), Jarvis, Saha, N’Zogbia Given & Bent (pens) have 3 of the next 4 at home in very “winable” games so I’m aligned fixture-wise
I can swap A.Cole freeing up 2+ million to get Suarez instead of Saha after the favourable home games for Chelsea & Everton, and missing Suarez’ tough looking game away to Arsenal.
Sound ok? RMT please, thanks.
August 19 at 8:16 pm
Matt_ says:
A quick RMT please.
Given (Vorm)
Shawcross Senderos A.Cole Kompany (Enrique)

Woah, that is a quality team! Not really sure how you’ve managed to fit all those names in haha. Moses is tempting, I’m tempted to get rid of Taarabt to free up some money and maybe upgrade Bosingwa to Cole…

i’ve gone for jagielka over baines. Lets see if he’s as good as last season.

why is moses so popular?
and who’s the best bet for this week: aguero, rooney or torres?
August 20 at 7:17 am
Timmyfine says:
I can offer my personal opinion on the strikers..
Aguero would be my choice as he is clearly in form, closely followed by Rooney and never Torres lol
August 20 at 9:42 am
tw says:
thanks! right now i’ve got aguero bent and suarez as my strikers but wondering if I should try to switch for torres or rooney
can you explain why so many people are going for moses? because I don’t really understand
