The Knee Jerk – United Rip It Up
Filed under: Scout Reports, The Knee Jerk - Posted by: Mark
Manchester United have just joined Edin Dzeko in turning Gameweek three upside down.
In 90 minutes of football, United simply blitzed a bewildered Arsenal, ravaged by injury and suspension, ill-equipped and unprepared for the waves of United attacks and individual brilliance thrown at them.
For Fantasy owners of Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young, United’s 8-2 win has brought a rare bounty of points that will have transformed their Gameweek scoring. Three goals and an assist from Rooney, a brace and and three assists from Young, the returns are beyond our wildest expectations and the stuff of nightmares for Arsenal fans and their beleaguered manager who could only watch on while their inexperienced and shell-shocked side were dismantled. Those Fantasy managers without the United pair are unlikely to feel much better – mini-leagues have been turned on their head by today’s events.
This afternoon will have a major impact on the Fantasy Premier League game with Young and Rooney now inevitably set to enjoy huge investment during the international break. Prices will rise, Wildcards will flutter – an extraordinary end to our Fantasy Gameweek.

“City can go on as much as they like. That’s what you would expect, but the history of our club stands us aside. We don’t need to worry about that. I think we have a rich history, better than anyone, and it’ll take them a century to get to our level of history.”
Sir Alex Ferguson points to United's rich history in the light of City's title win

I don’t get how Rooney wasn’t something like a 75+ pick in most squads the way Man Utd have been playing in pre season/ first 2 games and why so many people picked useless Torres lol

same, i was doing decent heading into the last day of games.. Also had Bent as captain which didnt do me any good, i ended with 49 which wasnt that bad considering.

People questioning that bosingwa isnt nailed on yet, im telling he is. look at his involvement, his goal. He MAY not start against the bigger teams but having attacking full backs is vital to AVP’s gameplan. Even if van der wiel comes in, he wont take bosingwa’s place, for the reason he hasnt played premier league and in his current form you couldnt drop him. Also Van der wiel of what I saw in the world cup wasnt that good, yeah he was quick and quite skillful but he’s was not at the level bosingwa currently is.

I think if Chelsea pay €32m for a right back then he’s not going to be warming the bench with Kalou.
August 29 at 9:59 am
dizzle says:
so AVP is going to pull out the one player who is actually playing well? straight up for a lad who has been playing in the dutch league? Yes Bosingwa may lose his nailed on tag, but he will not his place in the next weeks, unless his form drops or van der wiel is training like C. Ronaldo.
So yes i believe a 32m right back will be benching in his first few weeks at the club.
August 29 at 10:03 am
jamsiep says:
Okay, maybe Bosingwa will hold onto his spot for a week or two, max. Despite his goal and assist recently, he’s really not a very good player. If he was, we wouldn’t be contemplating a €32 transfer for VdW.
I actually don’t expect the transfer VdW to happen, but if it does it will all but end the Bosingwa bandwagon.
August 29 at 10:09 am
dizzle says:
I understand your second point, but disagree that you believe he isnt a very good player. He’s involvement in the last 2 games has been huge, seen in his bonus returns. He has been hampered by injury throughout his time at chelsea, but when he has played he has done a very good job. Also if AVP doesnt believe he is a good player why is he starting him over ivanovic and all others?
August 29 at 10:13 am
jamsiep says:
Stop getting AVB wrong!
Why is Bosingwa starting at the moment? Because AVB loves fullbacks that can overlap and provide an attacking threat. Bosingwa can do that whereas Ivanovic simply cannot.
VdW is essentially an improved version of Bosingwa, in the sense that he is very good going forward, and [apparently] is a little suspect defensively.
Not entirely sure what your argument is, but there is no way in hell that a RB costing €32 isn’t going to be first choice.
August 29 at 10:28 am
dizzle says:
Argument is Bosingwa is a top quality RB who will not lose his place to VdW. So he cost 32m, that doesnt mean he is going to start in the immediate future. Also you say he is very good going forward, have you seen Bosingwa the last 2 weeks, i’d say he has looked reasonably dangerous going forward..
August 29 at 9:58 am
thetinkerman says:
If you haven’t brought Bosingwa in now you can afford to wait til Thursday. If there’s no transfer activity, you’re good to go!
Don’t forget there’s already Ferreira on the books as back up and Ivanovic is good there too.

Bit of reassurance required.
In order to avoid Torres and Saha drop I brought in RvP and Fletcher this week (I know), so current team looks like this:
Given/Vorm
Baines, Bosingwa, Warnock (de Laet, Simpson)
Silva, Sinclair, Nzogbia, Sess (Tiote)
Rooney, RvP, Fletcher.
Should I stick or use wildcard, thinking I’ll keep with it for mo then when Baines’ good fix’s run out, I’ll downgrade and upgrade Nzog?

so far my team is looking like :
Vorm/Given
Huth Hangeland Rangel/ Simpson Wilinson
Ramires Young silva Adam/ Ferguson
Rooney Klasinic Dzeko
Do you think I should swap Adam for Nasri? And i’m also unsure about Dzeko as I think he may just have had a good game to score 4. And what will happen with him if Tevez stays?.

Wild Card employed today. The way I see it, I could be out of the running before the season even gets out of the blocks. The Roo, Young, Dzeko points hall for those around me hurt. Gotta make serious changes 2 minimize another day like that.
And make changes before values rise too high. All in all I think using a wildcard too late could be as bad as using it too early.
Given / Vorm
Woodgate / Enrique / Bosingwa / Brown / Taylor
Moses / Young / Henderson / Anderson / Silva
Dzeko / Suarez / Roo
More confidence in this setup.

Hey guys! this is my current team, do u think i should wildcard and bring in some of those guys: Howard/Given, Rooney/Dzeko/RvP, Nasri/Anderson/Walcott/Mata or wait and risk a bad gw4 (many tough fixtures) and save the WC for a little longer?
(157pts, doing pretty well in minileague)
Hilario (Begovic)
Ward, Bosingwa, Lescott, Huth, Cahill
Pedersen, Young, Yaya, Bale, Meireles
Klasnic, Di Santo, Aguero
