The ScoutCast – Episode 55 – Rudely Interrupted
Filed under: Fantasy Football Podcast, Featured - Posted by: G-G-Granville
Having been stalled by the international break and a glamorous trip back to Manchester, I take my seat alongside Mark in the studio once again, desperately wrestling for air time against the prolific gabber spewed from the ScoutCast host. Mark tries to be on his best behaviour in this episode, knuckles wrapped by a frustrated listener deprived of my pearls of wisdom by his constant interruptions, you can sense the intense effort as Mark holds his silence.
It’s not easy; once again we’ve a contentious issue to discuss – Rooney’s dubious assist back in Gameweek three still nags away at those without the folically challenged hot-shot. The new assist ruling gets the ScoutCast treatment then, accompanied by the usual half-arsed analysis of the Gameweek fixture list and the likely protagonists involved.
Click here to see if Mark holds his tongue.

phs6swj says:
Vorm is dirt cheap and scoring pts – Given is solid and value
September 9 at 10:47 am
JackAttack. says:
Is this team too “generic” ?
Krul Vorm
Bosingwa Enrique Simpson Brown De Laet
Silva Mata Brunt Cabaye Dyer
RVP Rooney Suarez
I still got WC left, but wondering should i aim for a different looking squad?
September 9 at 10:54 am
Shefki says:
There is no such thing as too generic. If it scores well, it’s good. And you can check the ‘generic’-part by looking at the ownershit percentages. For example, RVP(5,9%) – not ‘generic’ at all.
September 9 at 11:08 am
Milkman says:
Suarez 45% ownership. (pretty much) Even Rooney’s not that high!
September 9 at 11:16 am
llamaZA says:
It’s a pretty generic WC team around these parts.
I’ve tried hard to make something different as well, but not working that well for me…
September 9 at 10:48 am
JerseyCI says:
1) Becuase they are both good shot stoppers (and Ruddy got suspended so a lot of people jumped over), rotation of GK’s is not something a lot of people do.
2) Too early to call but Arteta gets my vote (if he stays fit)
3) I think so – Defence is the money saver this season IMO
4) Should be but you’ll only know after a couple of games if you want to be certain…
September 9 at 10:51 am
Hernanred says:
Currently have Brunt, Hunt and Cabaye.
Is there a better way for me to spend £18.3m on 3 midfielders? Would like to squeeze Taraabt in, but the value in £5.5m mids seems pretty limited.
Thoughts anyone?
September 9 at 10:56 am
ajay_kl says:
No there isn’t. Petrov and Hoolahan could be considered for 5.5 if you wish.
September 9 at 10:58 am
WildCard Activated - Make or Break GameWeek says:

September 9 at 11:16 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
After Taraabt hit and miss start to premiership life why dont you consider SWP as an alternative and with reports he may be in a free role from the manager – big potential there. I am considering him myself for Jarvis but after the news Jarvis is back to training am waiting to hear more
September 9 at 10:52 am
Milkman says:
Morning folks. Everyone else lost faith with Sessegnon? And do you think Micah Richards will be playing this weekend?
September 9 at 10:55 am
drunken_mess says:
drop sessegnon immediately, he’s rubbish, micah has said he is fit and wanting to start
September 9 at 10:57 am
Milkman says:
My thoughts exactly re: Sess. Bloody bandwagons!
September 9 at 11:03 am
drunken_mess says:
he looked like a good option, playing as a ST, but he is BAAAADDD!!
September 9 at 11:22 am
Milkman says:
Let me try the Micah Richards question slightly differently. If they deem him to be fit to start the match, do people reckon Mancini will opt to do so?
September 9 at 10:56 am
Rendabomb says:
I have another nice dilemma for you guys:
Rooney + Cabaye + Kompany
or
Suarez + Mata + Jose Enrique
September 9 at 10:57 am
Rendabomb says:
Mind you, I already have Young.
September 9 at 10:58 am
kitier katba says:
the first
September 9 at 11:00 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
On current form and fixtures the first one. On potential and differential the second but its slightly more risk
I think Rooney will outscore Suarez for the next few GWs but not by much, so all depends on Mata and we dont know what sort of impact he will have other than a good one.
So are ya feelin lucky?
September 9 at 11:02 am
Rendabomb says:
Then I’m taking the first one. I’m already gambling with Ruiz up front.
September 9 at 11:05 am
drunken_mess says:
if u already have young, i would go for the second one, but try and get kompany in for Enrique
September 9 at 11:04 am
Rendabomb says:
That would mean downgrading Bosingwa to a 5,0 defender. Not sure if I want to do that.
September 9 at 11:10 am
drunken_mess says:
no, bosingwa is a season keeper
September 9 at 11:00 am
WildCard Activated - Make or Break GameWeek says:
Dzeko should rise tonight, currently at 144%
September 9 at 11:07 am
drunken_mess says:
ye, any chance rooney, arteta and young going up again?
September 9 at 11:14 am
Milkman says:
Arteta probably next week – I’d have thought.
September 9 at 11:13 am
drunken_mess says:
if he does well . . .
September 9 at 11:15 am
Milkman says:
I reckon even one assist would seem him popular enough to go up 0.1m. But that’s just me guessing.
September 9 at 11:14 am
Turbodog says:
young might
September 9 at 11:12 am
Turbodog says:
He should go up – but look at the minimum column – that’s surely the relevant one in cases like this?
It’s on 91% ATM.
September 9 at 11:13 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
Valencia back in united squad against Bolton – chances of Young benched?
September 9 at 11:11 am
drunken_mess says:
NEVER!!!!
September 9 at 11:12 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
haha you sound confident! bear in mind champs league and then chelski to come
September 9 at 11:13 am
Milkman says:
Would be bloody funny though with the amount of people who have brought him in. I’m gonna dream about it now!
In reality, of course, it ain’t gonna happen.
September 9 at 11:19 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
haha, yeah although a united fan am secretly hoping that would happen (against the odds of course!) given i dont have him and pi88ed off that he will be 10.3 by tomorrow!
September 9 at 11:22 am
Milkman says:
So, about your name….
September 9 at 11:27 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
was to suggest forget sneijder…
September 9 at 11:14 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
2% Young will play on the left and if Valencia plays it will only be on the right replacing Nani which imo unlikely as SAF wont change a winning formula unless he needs to
September 9 at 11:16 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
sensible, but young been playing 180 mins in the international break with important games coming up? maybe nani left, valencia right or good ol park could be involved
September 9 at 11:19 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
Thats a fair possibility but I wouldnt make changes to a team based on speculation from international game minutes.
Also if this your WC team I imagine its better to build for the long term. For a free transfer it might be worth it but soon enough you will want Young back in as he is in great form.
September 9 at 11:24 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
I have roon-dawg who i think is enought cover for united for now given the fixtures – just bitter about Young’s price move
September 9 at 11:24 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
Roondawg is a new one what happened to pig? And I agree for now he is but this season it seems 2 or 3 united players will be needed
September 9 at 11:33 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
yeah will think of it in about 4-5 gws time
Re: Roon-dawg – think should be the new one
mate, on a separate note – thinking of two options for my second free change
Team is currently Given(vorm), Boss, Kompany, Enrique, (ShawX, Simpson), Silva, Nzogs, Walters, Moses (Surman), Dzeko, Suarez, Rooney
3.0mm in the bank
thinking either
1. Walters to Walcott
or
2, Suarez to RVP
option 2 gives me a captain choice for this week, option 1 seems more of a balanced team. What are your thoughts?
September 9 at 11:39 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
Option one is better as you still have captain choices for this week in Dzeko, Silva or Rooney – even though RVP is better.
Also after Crouch signed for Stoke – Pulis indicated he will partner Jones up front which will move Walters back into midfield and less likely for the oop point scores we expected.
Good luck!
September 9 at 11:42 am
CleverlyTheWayForward says:
thanks, my mighty fear is RVP goes crazy on the goals and i lose ground on that outperformance – was thinking possibility of switching Walters out for maybe Wrong Philips the following gameweek
September 9 at 11:25 am
drunken_mess says:
nani should be benched for valencia!!
September 9 at 11:14 am
Ji Sung Lark says:
Lot’s of teams with Mata in. Has he even played a full 90mins for Chelsea yet in any competition?
It’s too early for me… although the transfer window would suggest that Malouda’s not exactly going to start ahead of him which gives him extra potential.
September 9 at 11:25 am
drunken_mess says:
watch the spanish league and national team alot, can tell u he is Top Class, he will run chelsea alone . . . he’s in my team
September 9 at 11:21 am
True Bromance VIP says:
Why is no one getting Bent? (pun inveitable)
Slight groinal concern but Villa have great fixtures over the next 8 gameweeks (Bar Man City away) and Benty is a proven consistent Premier league poached egg goalscorer!
I’m definitely getting Bent!(pun inveitable)
September 9 at 11:23 am
Jonty says:
because of the injury concern, villa’s very low shots on goal and goal attempts stats compared to other teams and because there are so many better options, especially for that price. I’ve just swapped him out for RVP.
September 9 at 11:28 am
Milkman says:
My very dilemna!
September 9 at 11:32 am
ididnt says:
sessengnon out for either Henderson or Valenica. Worth a 4 point hit?
September 9 at 11:40 am
drunken_mess says:
valencia sure to start??
September 9 at 11:54 am
Milkman says:
Nope.
September 9 at 11:57 am
Milkman says:
(may do but not sure to)
September 9 at 11:39 am
marr says:
Alrite fellas need a bit of help with this disaster.
Given (Vorm)
Jagielka, Boswinga, Simpson, DeLaet, Brown
Silva, Moses, Cahill, Sess, Ferguson
Bent, Rooney, Torres
This week im thinking
Torres > Rvp
Sess > Petrov
Any other suggestions are more than welcome. Cheerie
September 9 at 11:44 am
drunken_mess says:
1. is given sure to start?
2. Cabaye might have an easier game than Petrov
3. still have faith with Moses?
4. not too sure about bent (could be wrong)
5. play ur wildcard if u gavent IMO
September 9 at 11:56 am
Milkman says:
I think Given will start. Big Eck seems pretty confident. Not got a quote to back that up though.
September 9 at 12:08 pm
marr says:
Cant play the WC now surely it would be a waste?? Which players would you change and who for?
September 9 at 12:14 pm
Milkman says:
Bearing in mind your situation I would:
Keep Bent (you’re gonna need your transfers elsewhere)
Swap Torres to RVP
Swap Sess for pretty much anyone, but perhaps Anderson, Cleverley, Cabaye, Brunt – depends on funds.
September 9 at 12:20 pm
marr says:
Only have 5.9 after i do the torres > rvp so petrov seems best bet at that price no?
September 9 at 11:48 am
Milkman says:
Torres to RVP is surely your best move for the frontline. Without a doubt.
September 9 at 12:12 pm
marr says:
Yep heart is set on that one but not sure about the second one??
September 9 at 11:43 am
drunken_mess says:
Adam or Downing
September 9 at 11:56 am
Sensible Soccer 2011/12 says:
Is Adam still injured or likely to play?
September 9 at 11:49 am
jumbokevin says:
which would gather more points long term:
a) Lampard + Bent
b) Young + Van Persie
c) Nasri + Van Persie
and another question, is Nasri going to start this weekend?
September 10 at 2:17 am
Impressive Tackle says:
Nasri and Van Persie for me.
I don’t know if he’ll start this weekend though.
September 9 at 12:03 pm
Ji Sung Lark says:
Fixtures out of the picture, looking at the player and team surrounding them as the only influential factors… Would people rather have VDV or Mata in their lineup?
This may be a hard question as we have seen what VDV can do and Mata has only had 25 minutes EPL game time.
September 9 at 12:12 pm
Milkman says:
VDV is injured. Surely that makes the decision for you?
September 9 at 3:43 pm
colin1201 says:
mata.
cuz vdv is injured.
and i feel chelsea will spend so much money on a midfielder to put him on the bench.
ony mancity is rich enough to do that
September 9 at 1:58 pm
yanksalot says:
do u think clichy will play this weekend ?

bosingwa clichy simpson da laet
toure nani arteta

Torres is S***
September 9 at 3:40 pm
colin1201 says:
any advice.
should i pick
hutton + nathan dyer
or
wes brown/ woodgate or some 4.5m defender + victor moses?
September 9 at 3:47 pm
The Pooer says:
Okay:
1. Arteta + Walcott
OR
2. One of Arteta/Walcott + RVP.
Sounds like a no-brainer (option 2) but I’d have to take Suarez out for RVP, whereas wouldn’t be taking out anyone good for option 1.
September 9 at 3:47 pm
ImpalerX says:
I’m sticking with Dzeko Rooney Suarez with Walcott on my team. Not picking up RVP hoping Walcott covers any points. I think Suarez is the better greater value pick in the long run. Althought I don’t have Arteta instead have gone with Silva Taarabat Moses Walcott Jarvis.

Have 12.8 in bank foot midfielder have silva brunt and fergerson and holhain already any ideas for my next midfielder
September 10 at 2:13 am

Walcott would be the obvious choice.

i stupidly played my wc this week and now I need some advice
