In our second Members article of the week, we drill further down into our Opta performance statistics to assess the Premier League’s leading supply lines from the crossed ball.

We slice open our data to list the top providers of crosses, examining which of them is delivering volume and quality, assess who is getting more of the ball and, ultimately, who is contributing the numbers to deliver Fantasy returns or at least demonstrating the potential to do so.

The article uncovers some interesting findings regarding the Nani vs Ashley Young debate, how Leighton Baines is comparing to his peers at full-back, and just how the likes of Stewart Downing and Matt Etherington are struggling to hit the heights of last season.

This might seem a stupid question, but Given or Vorm this week? I think QPR will definitely score at home to Villa, especially if Bothroyd isn’t playing, so neither will have a clean sheet. Vorm could put in a performance like he did at Eastlands, so he could get save points and even BPs. Any thoughts?

Stoke have less than 50% possession in most games. Against Man Utd that’s just asking for trouble.

I really can’t see Stoke getting a result, but they’ll pose the usual threat from set pieces.

    Johnny Unitas says:

Aguero scored 5 goals against Wigan and Swansea at home, he is an exceptional talent, but why are people in such a scramble to get him in against Everton, who are a team experienced in turning over the big boys more often than not, not saying they will, but I can’t see them capitulating into conceding more than 2 goals, I still think RVP & Rooney are just as viable as (C) choices this week, not too bothered about not having Aguero, hoping Adebayor/Rooney(C) and RVP do the business for me.

At the moment Aguero over RVP is a no brainer. Aguero is red hot and Arsenal can’t even find a way to beat Blackburn. Gunner’s are mentally bruised team and RVP’s service is nothing near the amazing run he had last season.

Nope, not looking for reassurance, I could do RVP OUT Aguero IN with my freebie, but I am not. I honestly don’t think they will blow Everton away, and I can look at getting him in soon, just not urgent like most people seem to be doing. BwG says:

You’re proving my point indirectly. The fact that their defense is so weak directly affects their offensive output. Each of these recent matches has it’s own nuance but…

Man U embarassment – w/ the penalty RVP should of had 2.

Dortmund – Arsenal had to defend wave after wave of attacking play. RVP still gets one.

Blackburn embarassment – whatever, how do you lose to Blackburn?

Their confidence level and mindset going into matches is affected by these results. Right now it seems like they’re at something like, “I hope we can win.” In comparison Man U and City are thinking “Are we going to score 3 or 5 tonight.” I like RVP, one of my favorite players to watch, but the fact that City are a far superior side and Aguero is on form…makes it a no brainer imo.

Didn’t exactly finish my point in above post. With current form RVP will continue to score a goal or two here and there, but I don’t foresee numerous 2 and 3 goal matches that Aguero has proven he’s able to provide. Again, this all comes down to the quality of the clubs.

I agree that, all things being equal, Everton would have a good chance of holding City. But Aguero was rested for the Carling Cup. He’s going to be up against Everton players like Baines and Jagielka, who had to play extra time. I see several City goals.

I don’t have Aguero, but likewise he scored 3 goals away at Spurs and Fulham. He can do damage, but Everton should have a good enough defence to limit him to 1 goal I reckon.

Meh, I’m not sure Kompany is currently worth the 6m – though that may very well change. With City’s new personnel they don’t appear to be quite so solid at the back.

If the extra money can be used effectively it may not be the worst idea.

*it should be noted that I downgraded Kompany this week to get in Aguero, so may be a little defensive about such a nuts move.

Your inclusion of Moses tells me you’re betting on slightly more expensive defender options (Jags, Johnson) will out score the 6.0′ish mids. And that you prefer some 4.5 and 5.0 defenders over 5.0 and 5.5 defenders.

The inflated mid field prices and it’s effects on selection are a dilemma we all face. Overall, I like your squad.

used wildcard last week and was shocked on saturday morning to see gibbs and walcot on the bench, i think gibbs if a starter is fantasy gold but now i am forced to transfer him for jones this week, should i also swap walcot for mata and take a 4 point hit, had dyer on bench last week and even though i had a decent week with 61 points it drove me mad to have 10 points on the bench, walcot cost me big last season and he is doing it again, but when i took him out last year he smashed it and im afraid he could do same against bolton if he starts? anyway im rambling what im asking is about 2 possible transfers mentioned, should i do both or just one and if so which one? im curious what do people think? thanks

I’m thinking of wildcarding my team. I’m looking for constant gains over time and a “sure-thing” team. My current team with 3.8 in the bank, and I hate it:

    Vorm, Given
Bosingwa, Kompany, J. Enrique, Gabbidon, Simpson
    Silva, Downing, Jarvis, M.Petrov, Moses
    Suarez, Rooney, Klasnic

I was thinking Given>Krul, Downing>Young, Jarvis>Mata, Klasnic>Best. So it would look like this:

    Vorm, Krul
Bosingwa, Kompany, J. Enrique, Gabbidon, Simpson
    Silva, Young, Mata, M.Petrov, Moses
    Suarez, Rooney, Best

What do you think? Is it worth taking the wildcard for 4 transfers? Or any other ideas? Thanks guys!
