Sunday Dugout Discussion

Filed under: Dugout Discussion - Posted by: G-G-Granville

Welcome to a brand new year at Fantasy Football Scout. Hope you all have a happy one.

Now you’ve disposed of your empty cans and pizzas boxes into a black bag, you can settle into your lazyboy and spend the afternoon shouting at your TV screen. We have two games: West Brom entertain Everton and Sunderland welcome Man City to the Stadium of Light.

The teams are in for the opening game, with the main talking point, the omission of Royston Drenthe. It seems there’s not even a place for him on the bench, with Jack Rodwell returning to the Everton lineup.

WBA: Foster; Jones, McAuley, Dawson, Shorey; Thomas, Scharner, Morrison, Brunt; Long, Odemwingie.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Neville, Rodwell, Osman, Cahill, Saha.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open.

Any thoughts on Rodwell? 5.1 is a nice price. He scored a few goals before getting injured… But that’s just it he seems injury prone. Drenthe seems the same. I’m just not that keen on Osman for some reason.

      Ibracadabra says:

Too defensive for my liking and Everton don’t score enough goals to play him consistently throughout the season. As a 5th midfielder on the bench, there are better options. For the DGW only, not terrible, but I’d think Osman is a better option. Maybe pops up with his 1 goal per every 2-3 months during the DGW but chances are slim…

    Repost from earlier:

    Vorm (Hennessey)
    BAE Jones Naylor (Simpson Evans)
    Bale Silva Nani Mata (Moses)
    RVP Sturridge Ba
    1 FT + 0.6 in the bank

Option 1: Bring in Ade for Ba, but I can’t afford it unless I downgrade my midfield and take a 4pt hit. And who do I bring in for Mata/Nani?

Option 2: Mata > VDV even for the short term as CFC have good (ordinarily) fixtures.

    Krul or Vorm
    BAE Jones Brown
    Bale(c) Drenthe Nani Valencia
    Adebayor(vc) RVP Sturridge

Nani and Sturridge out for Ade and Osman/Donavan would be a four point hit. Does this make sense to anyone else? Already have BAE and Bale. Not keen on VDV

      Lanley Staurel says:

Bringing in VDV is a huge risk compared to say Bale or Ade. Im steering well clear.
Looking at fixtures and the option of a WC this is the easiest DGW to decide on having 5 or 6 players Ive seen in a while. Ive got 5 – Baines, Osman, BAE, Bale and Ade and no hits to get them. We shall see……cue huge anti-climax….

Well I’m out of the Cup, still top of my mini leagues, so it’s all about moving up the main table now. Question is, who to transfer in for tomorrow?

Already got Bale & Ade for the DGW and not confident Everton will do much. Wondering about bringing Ireland in?

    nixsy says:

After the worst week ever I’m tempted to take a 4 pointer and get Baines in for Wilkinson.

That will give me 5 for dgw – Ade, Bale, Walker, Baines and Drenthe and then I’ll sort it later with the wc

    Vorm

Baines – Walker – Jones (Enrique, Mcauley)

    Silva – Nani – Bale(c) Drenthe (Allen)

    Ba – Studge – Ade(vc)
