The ScoutCast – Episode Seventy Six – Preparation D

Hitting the airwaves early this week, the ScoutCast makes a return to the fray with preparations for the double fixtures still using up our headspace. Mark and I rinse through the latest permutations of Gameweek 36, almost exhausted by the tactical nuances on offer. It’s almost too much for a Tuesday afternoon.

Of course, the podcast regulars rear their head and I do my upmost to keep my chin up despite the mini-league gap: Mark tries desperately not to gloat and fails as always. You never know – maybe all those eggs he’s put in the basket of Gameweek 36 are destined to be scrambled.

      See below.

I think those holding onto RVP may regret it, especially after this weekend if they don't get a City player and they see people racking up huge scores with the armbands on Tevez or Aguero.

IMO tevez scores 6 max, will rvp match ?? i think vp will be close enough certainly 4-7 for me so is it worth the transfer to you or is it best used elsewhere ??that-this is the bottom line, how many do you see both scoring??

Anyone think RVP is going to fail against Chelsea this weekend?

This isn't the same Chelsea team he played back in GW10 anymore. This lot actually can defend and seem to want to play for their manager. Arsenal been underwhelming of late too.

I think rvp will hit double figures, I also agree that Chelsea are different now-old style is back and terry is picking the team ! But seriously Im concerned about the fatigue factor and arsenal will be keen to atone for mon night, I'm seeing a 2-2/3-2(arse) game especially that che now have a massive eye on tues night, being realistic winning(IMO they won't) the CL could be their only hope of re-entry, and them blue boys are believing , for me there's still goals in that there Van!

Didier is almost certain to miss out after his peformance yesterday and Sunday. He will be vital to Chelsea's chance of holding off Barca next week.

I think Arteta being out will effect Arsenal alot as they dont really have anyone who can come in and replace him and do the same job. Arsenal will get bosses by Chelsea in midfield IMO. A draw, at best for me for Arsenal.

    Bogdan (mignolet)
    caulker turner evans (cahill mcauly)
    bale mclean siggy valencia nasri
    rvp rooney suarez

Have 2 FT so this is whats confusing me:
A: I was planning to do nasri + valencia >>> dempsey + barfa and do another transfer next week to end up with 7 dgw players. However, with city playing wolves, I want to have atleast one city player. I already have nasri but then I cant get dempsey.
B: The one option is dropping rooney + mclean >>> cisse + dempsey which is what i am leaning towards and then next week do nasri + mcauly >>> walters + Huth/BAE
C: I can also drop suarez + valencia >>> cisse + dempsey but it doesnt make sense to take out a player who had a dgw coming up even though there is a chance that suarez might be rested for one of the games.

Any other ideas??? The city form has messed up my plans so badly!!

How does this plan look for GW36?

    2 Transfers GW35: Moses -> Pienaar
    2 Transfers GW36: Valencia -> Bale
    Verm -> Cashley
    Rooney -> Adebayor

It will leave me with Krul, Baines, Cashley, Pienaar, Bale, Dempsey, Cisse and Adebayor for the DGW.

    Opinions? 🙂

All people have been doing this week is making excuses to justify getting Aguero/Tevez in or making excuses now they've already got Aguero/Tevez in. It's fairly simple, if you are chasing then it's worth the risk, otherwise, save the transfer for a DGW player. Likewise if you feel you have enough then take the punt.

It's really not that complex, if you want a player, get them.

Well said, I now have a gap of about 40 points at the top of my mini league so I'm just going to play it safe and stick with Rooney and RVP. Then I will swap Rooney to a DGW striker. Simples.

      so, so true.

i had a loose plan for DGW36 but i'm not going to miss out on some possible goals (points) from MCI.

last time i looked they were a free scoring team (GD: +58) who are second in the league against the bottom club who just lost their #1 keeper and have totally lost their way (GD: -39).

it's not rocket surgery, is it?

      I disagree, actually.

Even if you are leading and you reckon that City are going to run riot, you wouldn't want to miss out on big points. That will only make you fall behind even further.

Again, it boils down to what you believe the scorelines will be. But this strategy could be used as a coin-toss material though.

I understand your point of view, maybe my bias is holding me back...I dunno. It was nice to hear Granville contemplating in the podcast, made it seem much more like a game.

I guess I do believe the scoreline will be 4-0 or so in favour of Citeh. Can see there being one striker with 2 goals, another with one and Nasri/Silva/Johnson filling in the gaps. Then getting rid of RVP or Rooney in place would mean they'd have to get 1 goal at the very least to make it not worth it. EG:

        Aguero - 10
        Tevez - 9
        Nasri - 9
        Silva - 9

Even with these scores in mind Rooney and RVP could still easily come out with the same.

I'm not loving Newcastle's fixtures after this GW. I will almost certainly keep Cisse till the end as their attacking power looks great and am loath to lose a DGWer but after that Simpson will either go or be benched.
My closest rival has Dempsey but I don't like the look of Fulham's games either.
I was going to snap up VDV for the dbl and to the end, though Spurs have now stuttered and I have no idea which Chelsea players will play the league games as they cram 8 games into less than 4 weeks.
My team is linked and I rarely ask for advice but I really can't decide if many DGWers are worth taking hits for over what I already have.
I have 2 transfers so 3 by next week. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Chelsea players are too risky, There is bound to be rotation as they have difficult fixtures around that gw. But on the other hand, they might well still be playing for a 4th spot. Leave this decision for next week after Barca's game. Maybe things will become clear.

I do think VDV is worth a hit though.

I have the same dilemma ILF. The more i think about it the more I am considering just tripling on Spurs Ade, Bale, BAE. The Chelsea & Pool rest situation has cut off so many options with the best fixtures. Will have 1 of Cisse or Barfa also.

What do u like for GW 36?

      Suarez & Baines

      or Aguero & BAE (+4)

Think Baines is a worthwhile punt. potential for a big score!

Aguero and BAE for the season. Baines if he's fit is a good option RFL.

I was disappointed by Suarez when I had him and not sure he'll play both with the FA cup coming up straight after.

There are more questions than answers I reckon.

Hi Doosra, I asked last night and it seems only Baines if fit is nailed on for Toffee's defence, not that I knew that. I had been considering Jags or Heitinga.

Pretty much how I see it Doosra. I'm really beginning to rate Wigan and think they will be a tough nut to crack for anyone.

Only danger if they are chasing an early goal from opposition their defensive floodgates could open, but I doubt it.

Hmmmm its hard to say. He had an excellent game last night, but hes played alot of games and last night he was playing end to end up and down and with Arsenal and then another go at Barca he may have to be rested after that. With Bertrand in the wings able enough to deputise its a big possibility.

Newman, our prop bet is ON!!!!! (although I have a track record of LLD in my FFS bets)

Chelsea (Team ENR) vs Everton (Team Newman) for the least goals conceded in the last 3 GWs!

The loser gets humiliated to a grav of the winner's choice, which he shall bear for 1 week during the Euro's (the period shall be decided by the winner).

Now for some witnesses? Anyone care to do the honors? 🙂

Everything needs some form of logic depending on where you are at with this game in terms of chasing/defending, DGW and supporting a particular team (its crunch time of the season don't let FF ruin you love for the game so long as you use your head). So below is my logic for not getting a City striker despite the fact that I am actually chasing a 55pt lead (which may actually be illogical but I have a feeling my rival will be scrambling to get Tevez in his team).

    - I see more logic in having a Tevez say for 1GW than keeping him for the season, mainly because he is a rotation threat once the title race is over. As a United fan I would say the title will be wrapped up in GW36.

    - Aguero is worthwhile for the season, nailed on and on penalties. I just prefer RVP or Rooney over him and wouldn’t want to waste a trade, I see it as a little sideways so it would make more sense to get a DGWer

    - There is always the potential for rotation or early substitutions in a game like this (wolves) so this added risk and the fact that it ignores the DGW opportunities in GW36 means I won’t be tempted to get a City player.

Feel free to add your own logic to this post considering your own circumstances. It sometimes helps to write it down.

I'm with you - except I won't have Tevez at all. Also, one swallow does not a Summer make. Citeh have had one good match. I personally think that they might blow up again - and Tevez does not alleviate that - he makes it worse.

I agree with alot of what you say. I would say that i doubt Aguero will be rested though given the importance of the win. I have RVP, Rooney and Cisse and will not be bringing in either Aguero or Tevez. I will bring in a DGW player next week.

Now Tevez is back in the fold (for right or wrong), he's the guy that absolutely needs gametime to get up to speed. He's missed most of the season and is not 100% match fit yet. No way he'll be rested- only brought off if he's looking too jaded.

Aguero is a prime candidate for a rest should City take a commanding lead

Man City would have to be at least 3 goals up before either of te striker are rested IMO, as getting the beat goal difference as possible will be important to Man City.

IMO its important to decide what strikers you plan on having for GW36. If you plan on dumping RVP/Rooney for a DGW player then taking a hit to get Tevez/Aguero this week before it is not so bad. Theres a good chance you will make it back (or more).

Having said all that, heres a Buggu mark for you all. Tevez, Aguero, RVP & Rooney all to get single figure score this week 😉

-4pts for a City player over the likes of Rooney or RVP. It would require 2 extra goals to make ground or 1 extra goal to get the same points putting it simply.

Rooneys looked pretty poor and the positions he's been taking up in games has been very worrying from a fantasy perspective.

City on the other hand are firing on all cylinders with Carlito back in the team. They are scoring for fun, and lets face it with the team Mancini has at his disposal they should continue that right up until the end.

Im chasing 30 points. It's a no-brainer for me. Gotta roll the dice

    Morning all!
Am having difficulty trying to decide on a defender to bring in this week - who would you reckon from the following?

    1) Huth / Shawcross
    2) Wheater
    3) James Collins
    4) Gary Cahill

Dont really want to spend more than 5.5m. My other defenders are Simpson, BAE, Kelly, Jevans

Am chasing a 25 point deficit for the lead - so also thinking of ditching RVP for Tevez - good move or bad move? Would end up with the Holy Trinity of Silva, Aguero and Tevez

    Walcott / Sess / Valencia / Surman / Bale
    Cisse / RVP / Rooney

    2 questions:

    1) Who shall i take Dempsey out for?
    2) Bring in 1 defender in this week and 1 next week and start 3 for GW 36.. who?

    Bogdan
    evans caulker turner
    bale nasri siggy valencia
    rooney rvp suarez

    bench: mignolet, mclean, cahill, mcauly.

I really want to have dempsey, walters, barfa/cisse for the dgw

Have 2 FT's left so thinking of doing
A: rooney + mclean >>> dempsey + cisse. This way i can keep nasri for this week against wolves and take him out next week
B: nasri + valencia >>> dempsey + barfa. This way i dont have nasri for this week and i want atleast some city coverage
C: The other option is taking out suarez but it doesnt make sense taking out a potential dgw'er even though suarez might be rested for one of the games.

    Thoughts?

You never know flynny. I've been surprised that I've managed to gain 1700 places this week with a 4pt captain and only 10 players.

In some instances a 4pt hit means +- 500 ranking places. So all to play for.

The upside is that many of the top players will also try and get into club1000 or win money leagues so hits and risks will be taken.

Gw 36 and the correct (c) is obviously vital.

Considering a CHE mid for the DGW. Has to be Mata or Lampard right? RDM seems to be starting them both every week, so is it madness to take a punt on Lamps?

Disagree on that one. Walcott looks tired and Arsenal will miss Arteta's influence. Also A Cole is no mug.

QPR cannot defend and Bale is well overdue a decent score. Fancy him to hit double figures this week.

I agree, Bale is due a big score and I've been without him for about 8 weeks now, it has to sting me at some point! Walcott has only got his pace and that won't be enough against Cashley. I'm even considering taking a hit Walcott >> Bale this week.

Who are they going to put at LB? No natural contenders, so that position will be an obvious penetration point for opponents. Valencia to run a muck this w/e.

Also, any EVE attacking options just became far less attractive.

P Nev will likely play at LB and he will actually defend rather than leave the massive gaps that Baines usually does, obviously they will lose his attacking threat but I doubt they will suffer too much in defence.

Picking Chelsea players before their trip to Barcelona? Personally I'd avoid it.
