The ScoutCast – Episode Seventy Six – Preparation D

Hitting the airwaves early this week, the ScoutCast makes a return to the fray with preparations for the double fixtures still using up our headspace. Mark and I rinse through the latest permutations of Gameweek 36, almost exhausted by the tactical nuances on offer. It’s almost too much for a Tuesday afternoon.

Of course, the podcast regulars rear their head and I do my upmost to keep my chin up despite the mini-league gap: Mark tries desperately not to gloat and fails as always. You never know – maybe all those eggs he’s put in the basket of Gameweek 36 are destined to be scrambled.

#3 in overall standings in Champions league fantasy, 6 points behind first place 🙂

Would you take a chance in my place and go all-in with Chelsea defence next week? Could be disastrous, but could also be a first place winning differential.

I know. It's probably a week late for such a move and I doubt Barca finishing can be so frustrating for another week. But it seems I'll have to go for some sort of a risk if I want to reach no.1.

        Any other differential ideas?

    JEvans, Kompany, Simpson
    Valencia, Walcott, Siggy, Dempsey
Aguero (C), Rooney (VC), P Cisse

Would anyone do anything differently? Don't like benching Vermaelen but I can't see him keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea while playing alongside Djourou.

Hey guys I'm seriously thinking of getting in Dempsey for Walcott this week to face Wigan at home followed by the DGW and then Sunderland at home.

Given that i) Walcott is also playing at home to Chelsea and ii) Dempsey's DGW fixtures are both away, is this a good move? Just not that sure about Walcott tbh. Also have Bale but I have more faith in him than Walcott.

    Morning!

Honestly guys I am getting just as cheesed off with this Rooney/RVP >>>>Aguero/Tevez situation as it the next guy. But you can't hide away from the fact that any of those moves could pay off handsomely. These are the kind of moves we should be craving at this stage of the season. For those of you that are chasing your respective mini league leaders this should be a no brainer. But this should also be appealing to those that just want to better their overall ranking.
Personally if I was to make a move it would be RVP>>>>Tevez and then I would stick the captaincy on him. If you break it down RVP has only amassed 1 goal in his last 6 (granted with 3 assists in that time). Compared to his 7 goals in the previous 6 (also with 3 assists). That stat is most likely to worsen without the influence of Arteta in the middle of the park. Plus they face a resurgent, full of confidence, strong Chelsea side that are fighting for one another who will want to extract some sort of revenge after THAT game at the Bridge. You could argue that Chelsea need it more in their battle for 4th spot. Also when you look at the ownership of Tevez and RVP you should be rubbing your hands together. Ownership of RVP as at around 38% and Tevez at just 2%. If it pays off think of the differencial factor giving your ranking a healthy shot in the arm.

Also lets not forget City play the basement club who's form and confidence is shot to bits...added to that they've lost arguable the best aspect of their defence in Wayne hennessey. We've been moaning all season about how unpredictable City's strike force has been with regards to rotational issues but surly this is arguable their most settle strike force in terms of rotation.

Listen I am not a one for the knee jerk (except for Dzeko at the beginning of the season, but the less spoken about that the better ;)) but this move has got legs. I know RVP could easily score against Chelsea, I know RVP is a class act and can score against anyone for me he's the Player of the year. I have had him all season long and even went against the grain last time and kept him for the game against Chelsea at the Bridge for THAT hat-trick. He's saved my ass on a number of occasions but maybe now it's time to part ways.....sniff sniff. But I can't do it alone.....

      This bit sums it up.

League leaders are almost certain to play it safe and keep RVP/Rooney. Tevez or Ag is THE differential and the time to play it is now.

Finally. One of the most logical posts I've seen all week.

I couldn't agree with you more. All this knackered-ness and fitness levels for Chelsea are over-rated. There's no bigger confidence boost ahead of a clash like this, than beating the best team in the world.

I can see 1-2 goals for Arsenal at max and there's no certainty RVP will be amongst them. In the past 10 Arsenal goals, he's scored only 1. Maybe the managers have RVP figured out?

      Meh.

If you want to set out reasons for you getting rid of VP go right ahead but conversely:

VP is guranteed 90 mins. Augerio or Tevez who has just played two games in 4 days and isn't the fittest atm could be rested as City should easily beat Wolves. Manchini has dropped Silva and Augerio both in similar fixtures during the season. Tevez is hardly guaranteed a spot. Dzecho could easily start.

Man City's next 2 fixtures are Man Utd (H) and Newcastle (A) and APR (H)

Arsenal have Stoke (A) and Norwich (H) and West Brom (A)

Van Persie should easily outscore any city player for those two weeks with the final game of the season a toss up.

You are wasting a transfer going into a double gameweek where you are more likely to catch that league leader with two double game week differentials.

      It's a sideways move.

Van Persie scored 19 points (3 Goals and an Assist) against Chelsea AWAY, and now Arsenal are at HOME against a knackered Chelsea side.

You can't get Van Persie back because of all the value increase. He would be too expensive.

So on that basis I'm not giving up a guaranteed starter to a flake like Tevez who will miss at least one or two games left.

Convince the masses but I'm sticking and drafting in a Bolton player for the double. Best of luck with the punt.

    Vorm, Al Habsi
    Evans, BAE, Williamson, Cahill, Turner

    RVP, Rooney, Aguero

So many avenues floating around at mo. A 4pt hit will get me 7 dgw and Vorm, Sess, Siggy and Aguero with favourable/intriguing fixtures

In all honesty and seriousness and everything else, I don't really know. It depends on if I buy a better captain which I may or may not do. If I don't I'll likely go with Cisse, Rooney or Persie.

Any ideas on fixing up my side?

    Krul Vorm
    Verm Evans Shawcross Simpson Turner
    Walcott Dempsey Siggy Sess Valencia
    RVP Rooney Graham

    0.7 in bank, 1FT.

Probably selling Rooney for a City striker, any 2nd trade for a hit worth it?
Also which attacker to bench, Graham or Sess?

    Thanks in advance.

It's annoying but I'd save, most of the DGW teams don't have the greatest of fixtures this week unless of course you want Cissé but you can't afford a straight swap of him from Graham so I'd probably stick.

Arteta has missed 3 games (2 full games & the Wigan one) this season for Arsenal, they lost all 3 of them.

In the games Ramsey has played 60 or more minutes (25 games), Arsenal have won 12, drew 3 and lost 10.

In the whole season Arsenal have drew 4 and lost 10. In other words, With Ramsey playing less than 60 minutes they've only drew once and won the rest.

Doesn't look good, I miss Arteta already =(

I'm not sure there's many Chelsea players guaranteed 180 mins in that double GW, considering their fixture pile up. I'd be surprised if Ramires plays > 130 mins in GW 36 so I won't be going for him.

Cech, Cole & Terry are the only ones I'm looking at.

Perhaps Bertrand but if they get knocked out the CL by Barce, they're going to need to win both games to come top 4.

I quite like the idea of having a Chelsea defender, especially for CHE v NEW --> Some sort of win/win for me.

    A) sell Young & Walcott play Nasri
    B) sell Young & Nasri play Walcott
    C) sell Walcott & Nasri play Young
    D) sell any of 3 and play Sigurdsson

Who? Im not sure who will play every game TBH. I have a feeling if Luiz is fit it may be Cahil + Luiz for QPR and Terry + Luiz against Newcatsle giving both Terry & Cahill a rest.

A Cole also has a chance of being rested with Bertrand coming in for him.

The problem, the way I view it, is that not even di Matteo will know right now who will be playing those games, so how could we?

My guess is that he's fairly likely to play those games, but he could just as well miss out. I don't think we can work much more out at this moment

I can't see it IMO. With how well Cahill played last night I think he will play the return leg against Barca so if Luiz is then fit I think he will play against QPR and one of Terry or Cahill will be rested. Im not even sure if A Cole will play both.

I think this is something we will have to wait until the last minute to decide.
