Dugout Discussion

Tuesday Dugout Discussion

With the rest of the footballing world tuning in to the occasion at the Nou Camp tonight, the Dugout Discussion opens with it’s eyes firmly fixed on the remaining fixture from double Gameweek 35. It’s not glamorous, it’s Aston Villa versus Bolton Wanderers in a relegation scrap. The team news is in…

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Baker, Lichaj, Albrighton, Herd, Warnock, N’Zogbia, Heskey, Weimann.

Bolton XI: Bogdan, Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts, Ryo, Reo-Coker, M Davies, Petrov, Eagles, Ngog.

Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out due to injury for Alex McCleish’s side, whilst David Ngog is recalled in place of Kevin Davies for the struggling visitors.

The Dugout Discussion is open and can be accessed right here, with Champions League chat still permitted.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

Each transfer is a 4 point hit with or without its own merits. Saying 8 point hit is pointless

    At bottom of page

Which one for a hit? Tevez to cisse or sess to hba? Team is

    KRUL

    ENRIQUE SIMPSON Caulker

    Sess BALE DEMPSEY Siggy

    Tevez JELAVIC ADE

    7.7 in bank

Cheers for earlier replies, my thinking too but if just worried tevez could get something against united...

Just a quick opinion on Chelsea and their defence. Unless Cahill makes a very quick recovery, I don't think he'll be risked for any prem matches, therefore the Chelsea defence will be less subject to rotation.

However, now that they're in the final, with the possibility of Champions League qualification through winning that, they have no need to aim for 4th spot, and are likely just to concentrate on the FA Cup and Champions League imo.

In conclusion, I'm happy to avoid all Chelsea players.

Why do they have no need to aim for 4th? If they lose to Real / Munich they won't qualify for CL unless they finish 4th - if anything the FA Cup final is the least important of their games. Bos could be outside shout, shame Ivanovic is suspended for the weekend given his goal threat.

How reliable is goal.com? They've got an article saying that a load of spurs players have complained to Levy about Redknapp's training methods etc... Also says that the Adebayor reports are "wide of the mark" but that's not that reassuring given the rest of the article.

ok not a massive fan of 'rate my teams' (don't even like the phrase) but i'm drifting thru the end of a lazy anzac day and thought i'd chuck it out there. so if you've got a minute or can be bothered, cast your mince pies over this lot.
    rvp > jelly
mclean > cabaye (other ML guys have HBA)
walcott > mata (like his home form)

    FRIEDEL
    caulker, SIMPSON, Verm (komp, evans)
    MATA, CABAYE, DEMPS, siggy (valencia)
    tevez, CISSE, JELLY(C)

that's an 8 point hit. i'm not too fussed at this point of the day / season about hits - 42 off top spot, took out roon instead of rvp last week which hurt but hey, it's just a game!!

      Walcott>>>>Pienaar

yeah i like pienaar but don't feel the need to have 2 toffees. think chelsea double at the bridge and then another home game in 38 is pulling me. mata or frank for me. mata more reliable. cabaye is for differential purposes. cheers mate

          Morning Doosra...

Well I have purly gone for one over the other due to form.

Pienaar has brought in 5.66 points per game on average over the last 6. With the majority coming in the last 3. Compared to Van Der Vaarts 5.00 over the same period with the majority of that haul in the 1st 3 games.

Everton are going to be on a major high given their form. Plus for once they are banging in the goals 14 in 5. Spurs on the other hand have been aweful, dressing room unrest on top of a major slump in form.

Pienaar has 2 goals and 3 assists over the last 6 compared to Van Der vaarts 2 goals and 1 assist.

Form points to Pienaar and I can't ignore that. But I know Van Der Vaart is capable and did look lively agaist QPR.

Bottom line I have Bale and I didn't want to load up on a team in a major slump.

If you're going to do it, wait till the deadline for any news. Also, leave yourself enough in the bank to do P Cisse -> RVP in GW37. If that rules out Terry then maybe go for Huth/Jags.

With Cahill and Kaboul looking likely to miss this week that leaves me no DGW defenders and forced to play Evans and Kompany along with Caulker.

This leaves me with Krul, Dempsey, Bale and Cisse for the DGW with only one free transfer to make which i'd earmarked to get in Jelly but now think im going to have to take a hit to get rid of one of Cahill or Kaboul.

Who do we think is more likely to recover and therefore sell the other one, likely to be an Everton defender i think but not sure who
