Dugout Discussion

Tuesday Dugout Discussion

With the rest of the footballing world tuning in to the occasion at the Nou Camp tonight, the Dugout Discussion opens with it’s eyes firmly fixed on the remaining fixture from double Gameweek 35. It’s not glamorous, it’s Aston Villa versus Bolton Wanderers in a relegation scrap. The team news is in…

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Baker, Lichaj, Albrighton, Herd, Warnock, N’Zogbia, Heskey, Weimann.

Bolton XI: Bogdan, Steinsson, Wheater, Ream, Ricketts, Ryo, Reo-Coker, M Davies, Petrov, Eagles, Ngog.

Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out due to injury for Alex McCleish’s side, whilst David Ngog is recalled in place of Kevin Davies for the struggling visitors.

The Dugout Discussion is open and can be accessed right here, with Champions League chat still permitted.

    How's the team looking?

    SCHWARZER
    ENRIQUE SIMPSON JAGIELKA
    BALE PIENAAR DEMPSEY Siggy
    CISSE Rooney Rvp

This is if I do Valencia and Caulker to Pienaar and Jags, any thoughts?

Distin would be the Everton defender i'd go for Eric. Him and Heitinga both started the FA Cup replay vs Sunderland and semi vs Liverpool, suggesting to me their 1st choice. Given Baines's injury, Distin could even play LB again, so i certainly think he's more secure. Everton fans rate Jagielka as their 3rd strongest CB these days. Valencia to Pienaar looks a good one, and then the rest of your team is solid with plenty of DGW'ers. Like that you've kept RVP and Rooney too. Fancy both to score highly in their final 2 games. I wouldn't bother with selling Caulker this week if it's for a hit. Good chance of a CS vs Wolves.

Hmmm, does that explain why Heitinga and Distin have missed the odd league game recently? Might play safe and go for Tony 'Glamour' Hibbert.

No hits needed, got 2 frees, and I won't want Caulker for GW37 and 38. Plus if I get an Eve def i still get a Wolves home game in GW38.

Can spend up to 6.3 on a def, who do you reckon, Distin?

Yeah, probably Distin i think. Walker's a good shout too, if you think Spurs will find some form again. I'd do it then if it's for a free. I'm selling Caulker too i think.

Got an 8pt lead over my brother with the following:

    Mignolet, Howard
    Kompany, Enrique, Santon, Caulker, Evans
Sessegnon, Sigurdsson, Yaya Toure, Song, Valencia
    Cisse, Rooney, Van Persie

Would you take a 4pt hit to do Mata, Van der Vaart and Gallas/King in for Song, Yaya and Kompany?

If so, would you choose Gallas or King?

I'm happy with bogdan 3 points tonight which brings him up to 6 and matches my sub krul. Only 48 points with a full team after 70 odd with 5 games less. 74 leadin mini league going into wk 36, hope I can hold on. Lost 65-48 in 6 pointer head to head league so Rooney to aguero wasn't deciding factor in defeat. Just need to ensure I win my main cash league. Walcott plus £8m to spend but 4 point hit required, decision time?????

G, 1 Bosingwa Terry Luiz Cashley
      G. 2 Ivan Cahill Luiz, Cashley/ Bertrand

im gonna go with vdv simply because he's a bigger goal threat, is on penos, has easier fixtures, and might play further forward if all of this adebayor stuff is true..

pienaar obviously a gret shout also, scoring brilliantly, but you'd have to wonder if it's just temporary? pienaar has wolves in gw37 so with that in mind and due to tottenham's woeful form, you'd have to imagine vdv will be a much bigger differential

oh well if u already have bale then get pienaar in asap! but if you already have jelavic or plan on getting him in i'd go for vdv and spurs could, and i think will, score big in the DGW, so having them two could be huge! also, fwiw im gonna be going ireland-> vdv and making him captain.. then either yak or suarez out for jelavic.. opinions?
suarez might only play 1 game in the DGW, and yak has WIG in gw37

Just a quick rant before bed!

Congrats to Chelsea and Chelsea fans for tonight, great result

Thing is, I'm a Juve/Italy fan and I've had to put up with comments for years about negative tactics, defending, catennacio and the like.
When an Italian team play this way everyone slags them off, but when it's an English team it heroic, backs to the wall, stuff of legend!!

A win is a win, end of. Chelsea will be in the final, Barca won't. Spain will lose in the Euros too now

Barca were backed at 1.01 to qualify though 🙂

Sorry to do a Steady. I just want to see what a few more people think seeing as it's deadzone time and slowed down.

Which teams face relegation according to your predictions?

So far the census seems to be that Wigan and QPR are easily safe. The others not so much.

I hope Villa go down as it would serve Lerner right for hiring McLeish, what a bizarre appointment.

Have you seen any of the Bet188 skills challenge videos in which Henderson rinses everybody in all of them? (Keepie uppies, crossbar challenge etc)

Why can't he do that in a match though? He just doesn't have the confidence to pass forward or shoot himself for some reason.. I still hope he'll come good

      Anyway, Liverpool - Downing.

I still hold out hope that Downing will show even a flicker of the performance that carried Middlesborough or got Villa's player of the season award. Hope is fading.

    Krul – (vorm)
    Enrique – santon – N. Taylor – (kompany) – (j. Evans)
    Dempsey – bale – sess – Valencia – (mcclean)
    Rvp – cisse – aguero

1 free transfer. also have 1.3m in the bank

    Thinking aguero to jelavic?
Would also free up money for Valencia to vdv for a 4 point hit? could struggle to get aguero back though?

Please help as I'm in top spot and on for a few quid if I can hold on? Many thanks, Steve

i was a bit disappointed with the team of the season i'ts probably been discussed here already, but krul has easily been the standout GK this season, and cabaye/tiote should've gotten in before parker.. to have just 1 newcastle player in seems an awful injustice

      Should of been:

      Krul
      Walker Kompany Evans Baines
      Silva Song Parker Dempsey
      RVP Aguero

      imho.

nope not a newc fan, but have been talking about them a lot recently, and a few of us have come to the definite conclusion that a few of their players would start with any team in the league- krul, cabaye, tiote, ben arfa, cisee amd ba when he's playing up front, apart from city coz tevez and kun obviously miles apart from any other combo

Hitzlsperger's out for the season after a knee operation in March. Due to a succession of injuries he's only played 283 minutes for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this season.

      Depressing result tonight, huh?
