The ScoutCast – Episode Eighty Four – Santigold

Out of his pajamas and back in the studio, Granville and I reconvene after another dull international break to resume ScoutCast duties.

Arsenal’s new playmaker dominates, with the pair of us coveting Santi Cazorla’s charms and competing for his affections, whilst, in the back of our minds, wondering if we’re being taken in.

Robin Van Persie also gets some oxygen – don’t worry, that’s not oxygen treatment – he’s just the subject of this week’s discussion as we chew the fat on the “essential” debate that appears to rage on as the Gamweek’s roll by. The regulars all find their place amongst the merriment, as heat is turned up on the mini-league and mini-game struggle between myself and Mancunian magic man.

Grab the fools gold via this link, or stream it now via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Nasri.

    If Silva is out for over a couple weeks, does this not assure starts for Nasri over 3 very inviting fixtures? Someone convince me to stick with HBA please.

    Okay, here's my dilemma. I have Fellaini and fear a no show this weekend. I've used my FT already so do I just bring Kac off the bench and hope he starts in what coud be a decent fixture for him? Or do I take a hit and bring in Nolan, Duff, Morrison or Michu?

    Cheers guys.

      Number 1- Love your picture!
      Number 2- I recon leave Fellani in your team with Kac as first sub.

      BUT if you do have Piennar maybe a good time to switch Fellani out

        Cheers mate, yours is looking pretty good also! Never a dull moment at the County Ground, this week no exception.

        Yep, if there was an obvious replacement for Fellaini I would (I have got Pienaar) but none of the above or Sterling do it for me. I'd get Gervinho but I'm 0.1 short!

    Morning Deadzoners!! So I'm down to these 2 options now - votes (with reasoning) please!! Thanks!!

    A) GW8: Save, GW9: Michu & Suarez -> Santi & Berba

    B) GW8: Tevez -> Giroud, GW9: Michu & Suarez -> either i) Santi & Ba (4 point hit), or ii) Walters & Aguero (4 point hit)

    A) seems the safest choice, but B) gives me Arsenal cover for Norwich this w/e, and also either a solid (c) option in Aguero for GW9, or Ba instead of Berba (which I think I prefer due to fixtures).

    Jaask, (Fed)
    Baines, Hughes, Cuellar, (McCartney), (Clyne)
    Bale, Barfa, Michu, Pienaar, (Guthrie)

      Tevez and Pienaar to Cazorla and Berba. Captain Berba, he plays gets a brace and 3 bps, or doesnt play and you vice Santi and Santi gets a goal and an assist. 4pt hit nothing.

        Yeah, I think he will start, but Aguero looks more of a goal threat to me, and West Brom have been excellent at home this season. I think this coupled with having no Arsenal cover for Norwich (who have been shipping goals left right and centre) is tempting me with B....

          question for u. Start Hughes home to Villa, or start Demel, hope he plays home to Saints, and if not have Hughes in off the bench. If Demel plays and Lambert is up to his tricks, ill be ticked off to see Fulham keep a clean sheet and a possible 1pt bonus or a fluke/rare assist for Hughes.

        This is my team so far:

        Foster-Bego
        Baines-Gallas-Saylor-Hughes-Demel
        Hazard-Santi-Bale-Pienaar-Sterling
        Tevez-Ba-Lambert

        1.9 in the bank, 0 FT.

        Nobody appeals to me as a captaincy option atm.. so thinking one of two tranny's for a hit:
        A) Tevez--> Suarez(C)
        B) Lambert--> Berba(C)

        What do ya think?

    RVP. Yup said those letters once AGAIN today.

    I have realised my problem with him/the situation......

    If you (well I) have him in then somehow somewhere the rest of your team doesn't blow you away with confidence, whereas if I drop him, use my 2 fts and maybe even take a hit, my team blows me away and I wake up Saturday morning behind the couch for the United match but salivating at every other match this weekend.

    This has to be the worst pre-gameweek(s) so far this short season for not just me.....

    what to do what to do.

    If i keep RVP he's obviously going to be captain, but will he play 90mins? Will he draw a blank? Will Shrek take a penalty which you'd think could quite easily be given at O.T? Will he score a hat trick or will Stoke mark/hack him out of the match? Got all day and night today (tomorrow here just) to ponder all this.

    Can't you just do one RVP ffs!!!! Should have gone to Juve!!!

      Don't overthink this....To RVP or not to RVP has been debated to death, and no-one is quite 100% sure of which one is the right answer. There probably is none.

      Don't captain RVP against Stoke, after the international break. I am sure you have one of Suarez/Ba/Santi who is more likely to be a better captain.

          Straightforward ones : Fellaini->Caz, Tevez->Berb.....Sad about the latter, I really think Tevez might do well, but Caz does look like a great option.

    What do people think will happen in the Geordie v Mackem derby??

    I have Saylor benched currently, with HBA and Fletcher starting for me. It's at Sunderland, but I personally fancy a Newcastle win as of right now. With Fletchers fixtures not looking great ahead, Im tempted to transfer him out and get Berba in, start Saylor and hope for a Newcastle result.

    One nil Newcastle. HBA goal, Jonas assist will make me a happy boy.

        No place for Caz or Diaby?

        The 4-3-3 is the way to go with out current crop of players. The last good 4-4-2 team that we had was the one with Rosicky and Hleb on the wings, Cesc and Flamini central, and RVP + Adebayor up front.

    Setting off for a weekend in the wilderness (no internet!) so I need to make my decision now.

    I have 2FTs
    Hangeland > Wilson/Hughes (need to do it in order to afford Berba)
    Lambert > Berbatov

    What do you think? I'm pretty sure Berba is fit, just need to decide between getting Hughes and playing him for the Villa game and then rotating him with Gorkss OR doubling up on Stoke with Wilson (already have Bego), playing Saylor this week (and hoping he's fit) and playing Wilson every week from next GW!

    Any view would be greatly appreciated 😀

        Hughes for the short-term and rotation with Gorkss, Wilson for the 'set and forget' mentality next week.

      Hange -> Hughes is a bit of a waste of a transfer imo, but it's perhaps worth it to get Berba for his next few games. Since you already have Bego, I'd go Hughes. Easy defensive choices for this week also.

          Yeah, it's a toughie. Wilson has the fixtures and stats I guess, and STO are a decent defensive team to double up on.

          Your team looks pretty set up - what about Hughes this week and then get Wilson in for Gilks in GW9 (if you have funds?)

    A) GW8: Save, GW9: Michu & Suarez -> Santi & Berba, or

      Suarez will bring in massive points this weekend. Berba might not even play. He recently mentioned on Bulgarian TV that he's out for another 10 days.

      I wouldn't do the Cole switch. I'd keep Chelsea defensive cover despite the unfavorable fixtures.
