Mata Back In Training

Juan Mata returned to training today with Chelsea, on the eve of their Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk. The Spaniard missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Swansea with a hamstring injury, along with Brazilian defender, David Luiz. Both were involved in Chelsea’s session today and Roberto Di Matteo remarked in his press conference earlier that the pair will be assessed before he decides on whether they will be included for tomorrow evening’s tie.

“We need to wait for the last session tonight to check the availability for tomorrow and see how they come through tonight in the training session.”

Mata would now seem highly likely to be in the frame for the a return to league action when Chelsea take on Liverpool at the weekend. Indeed, Mata’s Fantasy owners will likely be hoping that the playmaker is handed an extended rest tomorrow evening, to keep him fresh and preserved for Sunday’s encounter.

Mata has been sold by almost 20,000 trigger happy Fantasy Premier League managers this week, having risen from 8.9 to 9.4 since Gameweek 8 following a storming run of form that has seen him fetch four goals and five assists in his previous five league starts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Primo, with ManCity out of European duties, I think Tevez will be less nailed for league games.
    Secundo, Wenger can not ignore Walcott in the EPL anymore with this form!

    Myself and my nearest cash minileague rival share 6 of our front 8- Hazard, Bale, Sterling, Pienaar, and Tevez and RVP up front. He has Morrison as his 5th mid whilst I have Puncheon (!), and I have Berba whilst he has Crouch.
    His defense looks better than mine- he has Vermaalen Vertongen Rafael, Fonte and Demel, to my Baines, Cuellar, Gorkss, Mertersaker and Clyne. Both same keepers.

    My questions are:
    1. Any obvious transfers to make this week? 1 FT, need to get rid of Puncheon really but no decent options at that price..
    2. Is it too early at this stage to be worrying about differentials? Could do Hazard -> Mata or Bale -> Carzola, or Tevez down to someone to free up funds to improve Puncheon
    3. Is Baines a season keeper?

    Any advice/comment much appreciated, cheers
