Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Casualty

As you’ll have seen in Sunday’s Scout Notes, Fantasy favourite Marouane Fellaini was the big casualty of accrued yellows this week. A booking in the 2-1 loss at Reading tipped the Belgian over the five-card line and into the ban list for Gameweek 13 – the pileous purveyor of Fantasy points will now miss the visit of a buoyant Norwich and hand his 36.9% Fantasy Premier League (FPL) owners a midfield conundrum this weekend.

Elsewhere on the tightrope, we saw a couple of new faces arrive, with Wigan captain Gary Caldwell the first to fill the void left by the aforementioned Belgian, as his fourth yellow of the season added him to an ever-growing list, while in Sunday’s game at Craven Cottage, the only player with three cautions to his name – Steve Sidwell duly delivered another indiscretion and will receive his tightrope invitation in the Monday morning mail.

On to Monday night and a plethora of players blink wildly on the tightrope office radar system, as West Ham host Stoke in a game that could justify a couple of extra paragraphs should the cards fall a certain way. On the home side, we already have the defensive pairing of James Collins and Winston Reid primed on four bookings, just one slip from a week off, while midfielder Mark Noble sits one away from tightrope notoriety on three. The visitors see a trio of protagonists alongside Noble on three bookings, with Charlie Adam, Ryan Shawcross and Andy Wilkinson also ready to climb aboard.

Welcoming Fellaini into suspension land (no doubt to compare grooming tips), we still have Fabricio Coloccini sitting out the third match of his ban in Gameweek 13. The Newcastle skipper will be followed swiftly through the door by the sheepish pair of Tottenham’s Togolese striker, Emmanuel Adebayor and Fulham’s Texas-born Norwegian, Brede Hangeland, after their game-changing straight red cards bring three game bans that will stretch well into December.

hey, watched the full 90mins of west brom v chelsea last night and have some things which may or may not have been picked up on:
    1) regarding MATA i think the damage is done, i wouldn't reassess based on that game, he won't be going to panama again until february or whenever the next internationals are. within 15 minutes of coming on he'd put sturridge 1 on 1 with the keeper three times (one was wrongly ruled out for offside), this was three times more than anyone, oscar's nice lay off for a sturridge shot was the only chance created by anyone other than mata while he was on. everytime chelsea got the ball mata was the first pass, almost like they were seeking him out to do something, of course in FPL the last pass is the important one, not the first one, but just how central he was to chelsea's was quite clear.

    2) shane LONG ran the chelsea defence ragged. it's almost a shame west brom have the luxury of lukaku, odemwingie and gera as options as long really deserves to play 90 every week. although he puts in such titanic shifts you can understand why he comes off early often.

    3) MORRISON went down on 58mins and the physio came on, had a chat and sprayed his knee. he looked relatively comfortable the next 10mins but then got taken off. one to monitor ecpecially if it's the same issue as caused him to miss southampton in gw10.

    4) MULUMBU pulled up injured on 80mins after taking a shot. clutching his left hamstring he signalled to be subbed but west brom had already made 3 subs so that's the only reason he played the full game, he spent the last 10mins hobbling around like a columbian at heathrow with an uncomfortable amount of cocaine shoved his arse. if mulumbu is out that's a bonus to sunderland next week as he's a bit of a monster himself alongside yacob.

    5) AZPILICUETA looked half decent, expecially delivery wise with his crossing both high and low. with chelsea's next 3 league games sandwiched by only 2 rest days between each (25th,28th,1st...thirty days has september, april june and november, still right up there with never eat shreaded wheat.. anyway) i wouldn't feel ovely comfortable with ivanovic any more, azpi is up to speed now and a realistic rotater for the odd game i reckon).

the missed gw looks a pain but i'd always back the goalscorer so therefore mata. i expect silva to be up to top speed now but top speed for him looks to be loads of assists, they never really hurt you too much as a non owner.

When Kagawa is back, he's a decent differential. Anybody thinking about brining him in since Valencia not firing and Rooney + RvP expensive? Rooney even plays 'out of position'..

No CL + Kagawa surely must play when he's fit again.

I'm thinking about downgrading Hazard to Kagawa, freeing up some cash to do Tevez->Aguero or Berbatov->Suarez later on. Thoughts?

I would say all of those plus almost every other midfielder in the game. Kagawa showed up with a lot of hype "ferguson got a bargain there" etc - and he played so far 7 games and got max 7 points, 3.8 PPG - 27 MFs have bettered that PPG so far.

I am amazed that he still has 5.2% ownership. Must be ghost teams right? And its not even like he is cheap. Nothing wrong with either Tevez or Berbatov, and if you want to downgrade Hazard for the cash you really should use that cash to get rid of Hunt. Haz/Hunt to Fletcher or Long and Fellaini or Nolan or something. Gotta get rid of Hunt though.

i'm not sure garrido is worth the 0.3 over turner. i think a pretty ropey 3bps the week before (what i call 'a jenkinson', aka winning the 0-0 lottery) has helped over-inflate his worth.

Garrido is getting forward a lot. Potential for more assists (and gaps). 0.3 can be put to work elsewhere of course and Turner might even turn in a corner kick again.

Spread my risk and went with Jussii and Shawcross and benched bego... so either a 0-0 or Jussi gets injured (lightly) in warm up and stoke win 12-0 with shawcross getting them all from a Bego long ball.....

My reasoning: United's slaughter of QPR is going to biblical. Like 5+ goals. And I think they'll smash West Ham as well. I think Tevez will only get one start in the next two and in the long term I want Aguero of the two and it will be an easy swap with Rooney.

regarding tevez, surely i'm not alone in was planning to sell after villa but now is struggling?
come round to thinking away at chelsea is not too bad a fixture for attackers right now, no clean sheet for 8 games, 10 in all comps, shipped 3 v man utd, 2 v tottenham etc. the danger game for tevez i think is the one which may have stood out as the best and that's wigan after chelsea. wigan is on the 28th, with chelsea on the 25th and everton on the 1st. i think wigan looks like dzeko o'clock, then after that regarding tevez you have nicely spread out games until christmas, the only issue being 15 and 16 is EVE, MUN.
it's really really really hard to sell tevez, even harder than it was for rvp as he only cost 9mil

I think that Aguero is going to be worth extra two million. I imagine he'll get a few more minutes and won't always give up penalties. I'm grabbing Rooney for the next two-three and then making the swap to Aguero.

it's basically the same as the start of the season. aguero will blatantly score more goals than tevez but 2mil more? debateable as tevez does so well with assists to bridge the gap.
yeah wouldnt worry about tevez taking any pens off aguero, will only happen if they win 2 in a game, and if balotelli is off the pitch. i quite like it as a tacitc, stops all the second guessing and over-thinking you get when a guy is taking his 2nd penalty v the same keeper

Next week suarez will draw a blank, Jelly will get a hat trick and torres will rediscover his liverpool form. And the knee-jerking crowd will panic buy again. I trust more in looking at how good the player is. Tevez is a very good and dangerous player in a top team and is fixture proof. He's only missed one start (despite how a load of bods on here seem to think he's been benched every other week) and for his price fits nicely without destroying your midfield. Keep him

Not sure it's the best time to be breaking that policy. Probably off pens after his miss v Arsenal, playing deeper (could even play out on the left if Fergie wants to play RVP and Hernandez up top), not scoring many anyway.

We all saw against Norwich who United were missing, and if they're serious about a title tilt, Rooney is going to be at his best.
