Sky Sports Focus

We have a change in leader in the Sky Sports Scout League, a new contender to chase the glittering prize of £25k in the overall rankings. With the Knockout Cup now looming, there’s plenty to cover as we take a look at the movement at the top of our League, analyse the latest transfer trends and look to tonight’s edition of the Fantasy Football Club…

The Scout League

After over a month on top, Charles Mouzon’s “Geordie Lads” are finally toppled as Paul McAnulty’s rapid rise up the rankings has him claim the leadership of the Scout League after yet another impressive Gameweek tally. Paul’s “Housewives Favourite” move on to 1059 points to look down on the pack, just 28 behind the overall Sky Sports leader, as he sits in fourth spot. Charles remains in touch, some 10 points behind Paul, with Simon Davies’ “Nags Head Rovers” back in third on 1037.

For the Contributors, Andy remains the highest-ranked on show – he’s now 30th in our league. Very respectable.

We now have seven players in the top 20 overall rankings, although the gap at the top of the Private League rankings is now just five points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

The Knockout Cup

The Sky Sports Knockout Cup had its preliminary round in the previous Gameweek with the draw now made for the first round which takes place over the matches of Gameweek 20 (December 29 and 30). Click here when logged in and you’ll get a full analysis of your first round opponent. The winner of the Knockout Cup will receive a home entertainment package complete with a 3D TV, a 3D DVD player and a free, full Sky HD+ pack for a year. Nice.

Market Forces

Stoke stopper, Asmir Begovic remains the “most wanted” transfer target this week, with over 48% of deals involving the Bosnian keeper off the back of his eight clean sheets, which have seen him climb to the top of the value rankings amongst the keepers. Not surprisingly, Santi Cazorla’s exploits at Reading on Monday night has earned him some renewed interest and he ranks third in the “transfers in” table – over 19% of trades involved the Arsenal man. Cazorla has now returned 20.59 points per million for his modest 6.7 fee – making him the best value player in the entire game. Cazorla’s popularity this week is bettered only by Begovic and Robin Van Persie; the latter is still earning suitors with 21% of transfers seeing his arrival in squads this week following his goal and assist against Sunderland.

Yet again, however, Van Persie is amongst the most transferred out players on show. While Marouane Fellaini’s ban has him shipped in over 41% of this week’s deals, Van Persie has been sold on as part of 21% as Sky Sports managers clear the decks to free up funds, no doubt. Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is the other striker on the transfer see-saw: he was brought in as part of 16% of deals in the last seven days but sold on in 14% of the transfer transactions.

The Fantasy Football Club

Peter Reid is tonight’s guest in the changing rooms of the Fantasy Football Club tonight. He joins Fenners and Merse to roll-out his all-time XI at 10pm on Sky Sports One tonight.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If you had Caulker what would you do with him? I'm kinda wanting to just leave him ( as there's not much else in that price bracket and I have decent cover for him) but with Sagna and McCartney missing next week it's got to a breaking point, don't want only 2 defenders playing like last week

It could be for sure but who? Actually I'd consider Walcott over RVP but thats it. Stoke are stubborn, you don't know which Liverpool will turn up, I don't quite trust Santi. So that leaves City and RVP. Oh and perhaps Rooney if you had him and no RVP.

Lukaku has to be one of the most ridiculous loan moves i've ever seen. He mostly comes of the bench as an impact player, looks a real goal threat and physically causes defenders alot of problems. Why is he not doing that for Chelsea?

They will have to if Sturridge moves to Liverpool. I know that Moses has been training as a lone forward for them, but even so Torres and possibly Moses is not a frontline of a team of Chelsea's stature. They need one possibly two more strikers.

Lukaku could end up being the main man at Chelsea if he carries on impressing. Hope he does.

Need some help decieding who to replace Rafael with as there are a lot of good options. What option is best over the next 3 weeks:

    A.) Vertonghen
    B.) G. Johnson
    C.) Nastasic
    D.) Walker
    E.) Gallas
    F.) Zabaleta
    G.) Cameron

The defenders I have right now are Bassong, Shawcross, Enrique, McAuley, and Rafael (transfering).

Ok...best defender this week and best midfielder?

Based on being free of rotation threat, goal threat, assist potential and chance of clean sheet.

My top two choices would be Walcott and G Johnson.

But Silva or Bale and G Johnson works for me as well.

Its just for this week...with only an eye on future fixtures.

Who will score more Walcott or Silva? Much of a muchness this week, with Walcott's goal threat giving him the slight edge. Also I'm sure Silva will be rotated once over Christmas, making him on a par with Walcott as a rotatee.

I know Fergie is renowned for telling porkies about injuries but it seems a bit of a random one to lie about. I don't think Laudrup has been lying awake at night worrying about Rafael's forays down the right. If he was saying RVP or Rooney then perhaps I would be very skeptical.

City were bang on it at Newcastle last week. When they play like that it doesn't matter much how the opposition try to play.

Okay i have coe to a conclusion in my captao choice

My rival has silva so i wont captain him bcz it wont make much difference just be happy to see him score

Cazorla wont produce the 23 point haul again and i think it might be 2-0 wso he would be outscored by my other captain choices

RVP- alway scores but not much of a differential as like everyone has him

So it is one of the two
    SAUREZ OR TORRES

saurez- twice i capped him he got 1 point doubled to 3.. so it could be a case of third time lucky
    OR
TORRES- looked awful midweek but can finish off the gameweek with a bang if he fires

1st decision: Play Cuellar or Cameron?

2nd decision: Captain - RVP, Suarez, Tevez, Silva, Walcott?

3rd decision: Which player to drop - Michu, Taarabt or Puncheon?

I'm settling with Cuellar over Cameron, but the captain choice this week is wide open and anything could happen. I want to (c) Tevez or Silva, but I'm worried Tevez might not see enough game time and Silva might not get involved. If in doubt, captain RVP...

...though Suarez is also a good punt this week!

captaining tevez is risky. first of all theres a risk of him starting and then after the worry of that, you will have to worry about him playing more than 60mins. then after that lol he might not even score.

best to go with guaranteed starter who will play 90mins

I've been fretting over my team all week. After a really good start ive slipped because of stupid decisions. Really dunno what to and its pissin me off. Help needed.

    Bunn
Enrique - Clyne - Cameron (Hughes) (Figueroa)
Michu - Sterling - Morrison - Ramirez (Fellani)
    Suarez - Berba - RVP

    4.4 in the bank

    a) Berba > Aguero
    b) Fellani > Mata/Silva
    c) Fellani > Silva + Berba > Tevez (4 point hit)

    Any other suggestions welcome?

Dream scenario for this weekend's matches? Mine is either Yaya getting a brace and the maximum bonus in a 4-1 drubbing or Reading building a fortress and Yaya getting the max bonus in a 0-0 drudgefest. I can't quit that guy.

Every season there is a player who I think is cool as hell on the pitch but never really delivers the FPL points like I hope. Ashley Young a few years ago comes to mind...
This year it's Yaya but this time I think he actually makes sense in FPL terms. Cue 2 pointer and inevitable frustration as I petition for "cool as hell" to be considered a legitimate PPI category.
