Sky Sports Focus

We have a change in leader in the Sky Sports Scout League, a new contender to chase the glittering prize of £25k in the overall rankings. With the Knockout Cup now looming, there’s plenty to cover as we take a look at the movement at the top of our League, analyse the latest transfer trends and look to tonight’s edition of the Fantasy Football Club…

The Scout League

After over a month on top, Charles Mouzon’s “Geordie Lads” are finally toppled as Paul McAnulty’s rapid rise up the rankings has him claim the leadership of the Scout League after yet another impressive Gameweek tally. Paul’s “Housewives Favourite” move on to 1059 points to look down on the pack, just 28 behind the overall Sky Sports leader, as he sits in fourth spot. Charles remains in touch, some 10 points behind Paul, with Simon Davies’ “Nags Head Rovers” back in third on 1037.

For the Contributors, Andy remains the highest-ranked on show – he’s now 30th in our league. Very respectable.

We now have seven players in the top 20 overall rankings, although the gap at the top of the Private League rankings is now just five points.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

The Knockout Cup

The Sky Sports Knockout Cup had its preliminary round in the previous Gameweek with the draw now made for the first round which takes place over the matches of Gameweek 20 (December 29 and 30). Click here when logged in and you’ll get a full analysis of your first round opponent. The winner of the Knockout Cup will receive a home entertainment package complete with a 3D TV, a 3D DVD player and a free, full Sky HD+ pack for a year. Nice.

Market Forces

Stoke stopper, Asmir Begovic remains the “most wanted” transfer target this week, with over 48% of deals involving the Bosnian keeper off the back of his eight clean sheets, which have seen him climb to the top of the value rankings amongst the keepers. Not surprisingly, Santi Cazorla’s exploits at Reading on Monday night has earned him some renewed interest and he ranks third in the “transfers in” table – over 19% of trades involved the Arsenal man. Cazorla has now returned 20.59 points per million for his modest 6.7 fee – making him the best value player in the entire game. Cazorla’s popularity this week is bettered only by Begovic and Robin Van Persie; the latter is still earning suitors with 21% of transfers seeing his arrival in squads this week following his goal and assist against Sunderland.

Yet again, however, Van Persie is amongst the most transferred out players on show. While Marouane Fellaini’s ban has him shipped in over 41% of this week’s deals, Van Persie has been sold on as part of 21% as Sky Sports managers clear the decks to free up funds, no doubt. Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is the other striker on the transfer see-saw: he was brought in as part of 16% of deals in the last seven days but sold on in 14% of the transfer transactions.

The Fantasy Football Club

Peter Reid is tonight’s guest in the changing rooms of the Fantasy Football Club tonight. He joins Fenners and Merse to roll-out his all-time XI at 10pm on Sky Sports One tonight.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looking good this week. Personally I think having Roon + RVP is enough doubling down on that fixture to go elsewhere with the captain. I'd Captain Silva.

Save your 2FTs for next week as you'll have different targets after these games I imagine.

Okay i have come to a conclusion with my captain choice

My rival has silva so i won't captain him because it wont make much difference just be happy to see him score

Cazorla wont produce the 23 point haul again and i think it might be 2-0 wso he would be outscored by my other captain choices

RVP- alway scores but not much of a differential as like everyone has him

So it is one of the two
    SAUREZ OR TORRES

SAUREZ- twice i capped him he got 1 point doubled to 2.. so it could be a case of third time lucky
    OR
TORRES- looked awful midweek but can finish off the gameweek with a bang if he fires

Villa's 3 at the back might get in Torres way, with more space in wider positions

      Great decision making!
Silva - you're not captaining because one other person in your league will captain him so definitely can't do that even if he will do well.
Cazorla - Scored the most points in a gameweek out of any player all season last week - This automatically means he won't do anything this week obviously!
RVP always scores so don't captain him - like the thinking.
Suarez - has done really badly for you - automatic option!
Torres - looked awful but yeah go for him.
      Thanks for your insight

I guess with Gorkss off my bench I am hoping for City to only score FIVE. As long as he can stay clear of a YC he could be on for another 0 points total. I would happily shake on that. In fact it would help if he didn't play at all so he would achieve the same result only without playing 90 minutes of football.

I don't often agree with him, but Michael Moore's 'Bowling for Columbine' provides an excellent analysis of this. It's 10 years old or so, but the stuff in it is still relevant, which just shows how little has changed since the Columbine shootings

captaining tevez or ageuro is risky.

first of all theres a risk of them not starting and then after the worry of that, you will have to worry about him playing more than 60mins.

then after that lol he might not even score.

best to go with guaranteed starter who will play 90mins ie suarez/rvp

rohan - if they were guaranteed to start then its a no brainer captaining them. but the risk of them not starting and playing more than 60mins is off putting indeed.

when u have a guaranteed 90mins from a goal machine like RVP, its safer

I have absolutely no idea but...I would say RVP is more likely to be rested in the 'subbed off' sort of way. Man Utd have got a 6 point lead and any mishaps could easily be due to or blamed on something ludicrous like resting RVP.

I can see plenty of goals in the Swans Utd match. Norwich put 4 past them in their last home game and Utd are scoring for fun at the moment.

City will probably win but I don't think it will be a mauling as many predict. The build up reminds me of the Wolves City match last year, which ended as conservative 0-2 victory.

end of days its a lottery. suarez the cunntt gets the chances so on any day he can score 2-3 to make u look silly.

rvp is consistent and most times wont let u down. doesnt mean he will be the highest points scorer for your team week in week out though.

Which omission from the starting lineups this Gw would cause the most site crashing, all capitalized, emoticon filled wrath?
    RVP
    Rooney
    Tevez
    Silva
    Suarez
    Bale
    Santi
    Other?

Suarez would cause much gnashing of teeth...

But Tevez and RVP are close behind.

I think Silva would be up there, too.

Rafeal out for a hit ?

Hangeland or Hughes over the christmas games ? Or double up on Stoke defence ?

No point doing it for a hit - madness.

Toughy... think I'd go (am going) Silva but RVP is probably the wiser choice.

if your leader dont have RVP then captain him.

captain RVP then. if he scores a brace you will catch him by double pts. captaining silva or suarez will means he still gets half their points.

            i hope that makes sense
