Continuing our members articles which examine the numbers behind the previous four Gameweeks, we now switch our attention to the midfield area. With a packed festive programme providing hat-tricks for Santi Cazorla, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott, it was a period which again saw the heavy-hitting midfielder come to the fore. Incredibly, however, that trio were surpassed by the performances of a player who has rolled back the years to recapture a level of returns and consistency that we perhaps thought were behind him.

  1. Anyone else worried about the selection of Turnbull?

    Iam!

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. Everybody. If no news by Saturday I`m just gonna risk it. Though I imagine we may get some kinda clue or hint from Rafa in his Friday press conference.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. My prediction is he'll still be in goal for the Arsenal game, but no more - you'll have to burn a transfer to get him out anyway so you have to weigh up whether that is worth the DGW - of which there is still a risk he won't play both games (I think he will, but there's still a risk).

  2. Scholes Pirlo Zidane Nedved Xavi Iniesta

Rate these from top to bottom. Not current form obviously. Speaking of their prime.
I'll throw in Lampard and Gerrard just for the fun of it.

        Pirlo below Lamps?

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. Yeah youre right swap Pirlo and Lamps about. Gerrard and Scholes is tough but id say Gerrard just edges it imo

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. Scholes passing and shot is hard to be ignored. IMO Scholes above Gerrard. Small but still good in header.

            • 2 years, 1 month ago

      1. Again, Gerrard over Scholes and Pirlo

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. I just think, how many times did he almost single handedly rescue Liverpool? And in the big games too. He was very very good. But, with Pirlo & Nedved I didn't have the pleasure of watching them week in week out years ago, so maybe it's a bit harsh on them.

And I still think Zidane is the best player I've ever seen.

          • 2 years, 1 month ago

      1. HAHA, it's so obvious you're a Utd fan, Gerrard behind Lampard.... you must be joking?

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. How many titles has Gerrard won again? And no i am not. Much prefer Lampard.

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. No of. titles isn't the way you judge a players talent. You Judge a team by it.

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
          2. You much prefer Lampard because you dislike Liverpool. Everyone in England knows Gerrard has been better than Lampard his whole career, only the delusional Chelsea and Utd fans disagree.

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
              • 2 years, 1 month ago
        2. Lampard = Gerrard. Hard to pick But im still gonna pick Gerrard to be ahead of Lampard. But Gerrard pass is not as good as Lampard now.

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. And I'm an United fans

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
      2. Zidane and Pirlo over Scholes?

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. Pirlo = Scholes. Zidane is different position with Scholes and Pirlo so it's hard to compare them.

          • 2 years, 1 month ago

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    8. Zidane, Xavi, Pirlo, Scholes, Nedved, Lampard, Gerrard

      ^ in that order.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago

  6. Who to start -

    Hughes (WIG)
    Clyne (avl che)

Not too much in it can see Clyne getting a -ve score v Chels

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. clyne wont start I believe

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Yeah theres also that. I have him as 1st sub as it stands might relegate to 2nd sub.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
  7. Is anyone thinking of Steven Fletcher for the next 10 gameweeks? I think it is worth a punt, only problem is I need Lambert for this double and Podolski after that but sensing a missed opportunity here with Fletcher playing West Ham and Wigan for those two gameweeks.

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. Fletcer has great fixtures for the next 4.

I would look at other DGW coverage. Lamps and Podolski arent high on my list

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  8. How's this for a WC team?

    Turnbull, Begovic
    Luiz, Demel, Gibbs, Harte, Mariappa
    Mata, Michu, Walcott, Fellaini, Puncheon
    RVP, Lambert, Berba

    0.9 Bank.

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. lovely. even though i wouldnt double the reading defence, upgrade mariappa

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Mariappa to Davies/Martin R maybe?

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. davies is a good option

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. Double Reading defenders?

Are you copying my Harte - Shorey combo?

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Guilty!

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    3. Bale instead of Fellaini is required IMO

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  9. Ill Obrien be back for DGW?

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. On physio room it says his return date is 12th of January.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. ok maybe then... I personally wouldn't take the risk and am just getting Demel.

Assume you already have him and are not on WC?

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          • 2 years, 1 month ago
  10. Didn't see the Chelsea / QPR game.

Bertrand played ahead of Cole and they lost 1-0.. assume this was to give cole a rest and therefore nailed on for two games inthe DGW, however could anyone that watched the game advise how bertrand actually played.

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. I didn't follow it closely enough but it will be interesting to see if Bertrand gets a start tonight...if so...then Cole is nailed on for the DGW I'd imagine.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. This would be ideal

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. I think cole will play the next 3 as he's been rested recently. It will be a strong side he puts out.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    3. thanks all

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  11. Which plan is better?

    A) GW22- Shawcross > Luiz

    GW23- Luiz > Gibbs

    B) GW22- Zabaleta > Luiz (Play Shawcross at home to Chelsea

    GW23 - Shawcross > Gibbs

    C) GW22 - Shawcross > Luiz (play Zabaleta away to Arsenal)

    GW23 - Zabaleta > Gibbs

    Leaning towards A.

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks.

  12. will Fonte start ?

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  13. Those with Clyne - (avl, che) aren't that brilliant on paper. Would you play him ahead of Cameron (CHE) or Highes (WIG) for example?

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. And there's the issue of his fitness...

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. Who are your other defenderS?

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Well - atm, it's Nastasic, Cameron, Hughes, Demel, Clyne.

Debating whether to do Fed -> Turnbull or Nasty -> Luiz/Azpili (waiting for tonight to decide).

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. The main problem is Clyne isn't 100% going to start, heard he's injured.

I'd fancy a Luiz/Cole transfer...I'd be wary of Azpi if Terry is back

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. I think you're right, I'm better off doing the defensive upgrade (especially as Minge, my other keeper has WHU - seems a waste to have him on the bench).

Just need to decide on who - tonight will help in that respect, hopefully.

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
            1. That's the thing... Mignolet and Fed are actually very worthy of a start this week

              • 2 years, 1 month ago
          2. And FWIW, I think Cole is as prone to a rest as the rest of them, with Bertrand waiting in the wings.

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
    3. I would personally play hughes ahead of clyne. Clyne might only start the Chelsea game and i dont see wigan scoring

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
    4. I would play him above those two.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. If he's fit that is. I don't see him as a rotation threat. It only happened once at Xmas which is normal.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. I guess we'll get news at some point over the next couple of games. Cheers all!

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
  14. Morning all, any comments on this draft WC?:

    Bego / Turnbull
    Baines / Gibbs / Davies / Demel / Wilson
    Fellaini / Mata / Walcott / Michu / Bale
    RVP / Ba / Ruiz

Planning Ba -> Podolski next week

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. finally someone else with baines in their WC team.. i salute you sir...

      .. team looks very strong

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Thanks. I can't understand why he isn't in more teams.

        Class act IMO

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. looks a great team. Love the MF

Not sure Ruiz will end up with as points as Berba personally, but you clearly need the cash.

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
        2. Baines for the run in. Everton always pull up trees second half of season.
          In my wct for sure

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
      2. i'd wait for Wilson to return though before bringing him in... maybe get turner / martin until then

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. Good plan. Think I'll change Turnbull -> Bunn so maybe a reading defender might be a thought. They seem to have tightened up at the back, maybe Mariappa.

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. wouldn't get Bunn.. long term he wont be in the team when ruddy comes back.. i'm going federici

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
            1. Good idea, will do that.

              • 2 years, 1 month ago
              1. good luck.. hope it works out ( obviously)

                • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. Looks good to me.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    3. baines to luiz
      ruiz to berba

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Tempting, but Berbs doesn't work with that midfield very well.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Thanks SJT

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    4. Looks good, personally i would drop one of Michu/Fellaini to Puncheon and upgrade Ruiz

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. In an ordinary season I would, but I like the idea of the 3-5-2 this time.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    5. barring the obvious lack of Suarez, that is an excellent team.

      Prefer Federici over Turnbull, though.

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  15. replacement for Fonte , if any? 4.1 mil available..

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. Cheeky punt on Hooiveld?

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. very funny.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
    2. Shaw, clyne, demel, Wilson,

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  16. Worth a 4 point hit to get Turnbull in and play instead of Bego?

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. No. Cech might be back very soon

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. Hmmm...think you're probably right.

Just dont feel i've got enough cover with just Mata

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
  17. LOL scratch that, now that Nelsen is not available. who to replace him with? 4.0 available..

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. Nelsen will probably start against Spurs in his last match

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
      1. And end up with a negative score.

        • 2 years, 1 month ago
        1. or score an header

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
        2. They said that last week when he was heading to the Bridge ;)

          • 2 years, 1 month ago
          1. I was one of them too, and he climbed proudly off of my bench  :D

            • 2 years, 1 month ago
            1. Trying to get people to sell then so you reap the rewards again this week, eh? ;)

              • 2 years, 1 month ago
  18. a - Clyne Evans J

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. B, just cos of the DGWs.

      A long term though

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  20. Worth ignoring the doublers and getting one/both of Bale + Felliani this week?
(Silva/Michu to make way [wont lose much value])

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
  21. I have Turnbull and Azapil, both are risk should I just take Turnbull out for Cerny save myself 0.4 and a transfer, then do Azapil > Nasty next week?

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    • 2 years, 1 month ago
  22. if you captain Mata in a midfield of Mata bale Michu puncheon Walcott
who do you drop to the bench for this gameweeek ??

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. Puncheon. 2 away games and wouldn't feel good dropping Walcott with home fixture and Michu is a goal machine!

      • 2 years, 1 month ago
  23. Help!!!!!!

Need your opinion on the better option – Thinking for long term as well

    a) Van Persie and Ruiz (both home)
    b) Tevez Suarez (both away)

    cheers

    • 2 years, 1 month ago
    1. a...Tevez might not play!

      • 2 years, 1 month ago

    Turnbull (Szczesny)
    Demel Harte Gibbs (Jones) (Davies)
    Mata(c) Bale Michu Fellaini (Noble)
    RVP BA Berbatov

    0.3m in bank. Mata + Ba > Arteta + Suarez GW 23 – (4 Hit)

    Good to go?
