The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Four – Resumption

Back for 2013, fully refreshed, slightly rusty and balancing the same chips on our shoulders, Granville are I make a return to the podcast studio.

The New Year presents my beleaguered co-host with a 51-point gap to bridge as I spent Christmas “ho-ho-ing” about three midfield hat-tricks, leaving Granville to roll out one mighty miffed in this week’s episode.

Elsewhere, we pick at the double Gameweek buffet, eagerly scoffing on the Chelsea canapés whilst wondering if Rafa has hidden something nasty in the vol-a-vents. We rinse that down with the latest transfers in and out in “all aboard”, preview all the weekend fixtures and carry out the latest emergency surgery on the ailing ScoutCast team.

Normal service is resumed via this link or you can pour this straight into your ears via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    On wildcard:

    Current team:

    Turnbull Jussi
    Shaw Demel Davies Azpi Sagna
    Mata Bale Walcott Fellaini Punch
    Lambert Dzeko RVP

I'm concerned about the gametime of Azpi and Dzeko. So what to do?

    A) Dzeko to Tevez. Azpi to 4.0
    B) Dzeko to Ba. Azpi to 4.0. Next week Ba to Tevez.
    C) Fellaini to Hazard. Azpi and Sagna to 8.5 max. Next week Haz to Caz.
If I choose to do C, I’d have an uber cheap rotating defence of
Jones Demel Davies Turner Shaw. One of them will become Wilson when he returns.
    D) Sit tight and do nothing.

I'm currently leaning towards C as there doesn't seem to be any value in defence (and Azpi may not play the Southampton game and Sagna is shit)

If Fellaini is sold Martinez will sell McCarthy to Everton if the price is right.

Does any one have Suarez stats against United ?

Lampard could be a high differential option with penalties,ck and FK.

so there's a lot of fellaini off to chelsea rumors (i don't believe it personally). however, if true, this is what i have planned:

luiz + fellaini -> azipilicueta + michu, giving me

    bego
    luiz, sagna, zab
    mata, bale, walcott, michu
    rvp, suarez, ba
    bench: rudd, demel, davies, marveaux

    what do you think?

Azpilicueta might only play one of DGW games cos Terry will be back. Downgrade some of your defence to get a 2nd playing keeper and upgrade Marveaux and Demel.

Im not saying I want anyone, I am simply stating the obvious/facts.

In recent years gone by it was the norm or the desired, to have 3 City and 3 United, or 2, 2, 2 or 3, 2, 2 Chels, United City.

Crazy to think really that the two teams who will clearly finish pts and pts ahead at the top, will have hardly any desirable fantasy players over the course of a season.

If you can name me a Citeh defender that offers better value over Gibbs and Luiz I would happily accept... IMO Silva is too expensive to just be getting assists...

Tevez, now if he gets 90mins and Aguero looks to be out for a few months, then I'll snap him up in the next week or two maybe...

United conceding rakes of goals with Beverly Hills priced defenders. Valencia's form is off the scale. Cleverley will get feck all points. Chicharito and Wellbeck aren't nailed on. Nastasic and Zabaleta represent half-decent value but Nastasic isn't nailed on.

True, but the reasons for this are a) City players much more under threat of rotation than most teams b) City not scoring as freely as last year c) outside Van P there hasn't been much value in attack at United (since rooney got injured) and d) Neither team have been keeping clean sheets.

Come on trigger you know that's a psychological reason not a fantasy reason. If your squad has higher scoring players, you will score higher, unless there is a special curse that causes your benched player to continually outscore your non benched player.

The way I look at these dgws is that you only need 2 players max: 2 from CHS; 2 from ARS. No need for defenders and 3 is too many leaving you lumbered with undesirables.

For sure. I think I've done well with my DGWers (no hits) Ba, Walcott, Gibbs, Puncheon, O'Brian. I'm certainly looking forward to playing my WC properly with defensive rotation, fixtures and form & the new recruits guiding my decision making. I think the DDGW clouds peoples judgement.

I can only afford Haz, but I'd like to think Haz will outscore Mata. Mata is the safe pick, whereas Haz is the punty pick. I'm only going Haz because I'm WCing soon and he won't be hanging around long in my team. Mata is the long term pick.

Mata is class. So is Hazard. Michu, Walcott, Bale and Silva too. Even if they did feck all in FF terms they're great to watch. None of them in Ronaldo's or Fabregas's class in PL I reckon but it's been a while since the Premier had so many quality attacking midfielders / wingers. Hopefully Valencia will find his form and join them.

Me too actually, if Ivanovic is due a rest (shocking display) then Southampton is the game to do it with a returning Terry.

I will go with Cole or Luiz though, and the reasoning is pretty poor

Lamps is my captain, if he misses a game Luiz is guaranteed to play it. I guess I'm covering my ass slightly.

          I'm hoping for

          Ba/Torres
          Hazard-Mata-Ramires
          Luiz-Lampard

Against Stoke, feasible given Oscar is the weakest/most dispensable of the lot

that team looks right but im sure ba will start against stoke, physical team and benitez will know that. ivanovic will start at cb for his height and strength which means azp has to play against stoke. i agree think ivan will get a rest against southampton. with there pacey wingers benitez will play azp there again. sound reasoning???

Yeah I agree Ba will play against Stoke, as do 98% of the population.

I think the Stoke team is reasonably easy to anticipate, it's Southampton whih throws everything up in the air.

I don't know for sure, I'm not Rafa, but think he'll stay CB. He's a better CB than Ivanovic and in good form. Ivanovic will prob go back to RB. Pity cos I think he should give Ivanovic and Azpilicueta the FB slots and make COle play his way back in.
