Matchday Surgery

The Saturday Surgery

With ninety minutes to go before the gate drops down on our Gameweek decision making, there’s likely to be plenty still deliberating the day’s dilemmas. The first of two back-to-back double Gameweeks hands us the potential of strong returns, although we find ourselves somewhat at the mercy of Rafa Benitez: an unenviable position when considering, wildcards, transfers and the captaincy. Our Saturday Surgery Chatroom is now open to offer a crumb of comfort for those seeking real-time feedback for their theories and musings.

The day’s Dugout Discussion follows at 12.30 ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Loftus Road for the early kick-off. The pre-match preamble is looking purposeful on the touchline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Start Bunn(NEW) or Szczesny(MCY) this week?

RMT tool and the clean sheet odds says to start Bunn, but it feels a bit wrong.

No, I have the exact same choice and that's what I'm doing. Following our chat the other day, I may have pinched your goalkeeper combo, now Turnbull's not an option. 😉

The traditionally easier teams have more punch this season. For United it is still a case of outscoring them, have to wait and see if they can start to keep them out but it's not a clear option and he may get rested for a couple of those anyway.

My thinking is to go with Mata. After what happened last time against QPR, Benitez would be foolish to drop him against Southampton. So I think he will start both games. Might not finish the Soton game, but should have done the business during the time he's on the pitch.

Re Ba vs Torres. I think he'll start the Stoke game, and be benched for the Soton game. Torres and Rafa go too far back for him to not start two games on the bounce.

      Just an opinion 😀

Pogs has been playing well recently, running his bollix off up front on his own. McD would be a tool to drop him.

Anyway, even if he did get dropped, you would just play the mids every week. Or upgrade to Henriquez. Not a big problem really.
