FFS Paddy Power Cup – Semi Final Results
Filed under: Fantasy Football Scout Cup - Posted by: Mark
The Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII were finally completed last night after Chelsea and Southampton’s 2-2 draw at the Bridge. We find a familiar name in the final, with site regular Wild Rover clinching his place thanks to a 94-75 win over Mr KK…
Now up to 146th in the overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings, Wild Rover’s decision to wield his winter wildcard for double Gameweek 22 paid off handsomely, with Demba Ba, Rickie Lambert, Juan Mata, Luke Shaw and David Luiz all racking up the returns. He loaded up on three double Gameweek 23 players last week (Joe Cole, Guy Demel and Bacary Sagna) and has already made a transfer prior to Saturday’s deadline.
Nevertheless, Wild Rover remains the underdog for the final – a clear sign of the level of competition in this year’s Scout Cup. Standing in his way of the silverware is MileHigh, who has now moved up to 18th in the world and arrives in the final courtesy of a 90-69 win over Ange1Range1. MileHigh also had five players for last week’s double, with Ba, Mata, Shaw and Luiz joined by Jason Puncheon. He still has his wildcard intact but already has four players (Theo Walcott, Kieran Gibbs, Mark Noble and Guy Demel) in his squad for the upcoming double, with a free transfer still to play.
With both sides looking well-placed to take advantage of Arsenal and West Ham’s respective pair of fixtures, we’re set for quite a battle all the way through to Wednesday evening’s fixture at the Emirates.
On behalf of Fantasy Football Scout, good luck to you both.
Meanwhile, Mr.KK and ange1range1 are left to settle matters in the third place play-off.
| 1 | ange1range1 | 69 – 90 | MileHigh |
| 2 | Wild rover | 94 – 75 | Mr.KK |

“I love to attack and I love to go up front...It is a little more difficult than when you are playing centre-back. If you play the way that I want to play, I think my influence is better as a left-back. For the team, it is best that I play as a centre-back. I like to bring the ball out. You need to move the game quickly, and that is one of my qualities as well.”

Afternoon guys, hope everyone’s well.
Was thinking of
A.Cole -> Gibbs and
Silva -> Cazorla (-4)
Would give me Walcott, Demel, Gibbs and Santi for the DGW. First one’s a no brainer but should I do the second one?
January 17 at 2:53 pm
heco87 says:
Tough, with Silva’s fixture. I’d probably do it though.

January 17 at 2:48 pm
Stinkfly says:
After having a very quick look at the squads, it seems Wild Rovers hopes lie heavily in the hands of Michu, Fellaini and Baines.
I think Wild Rover’s got a good chance if Mile High doesn’t WC (subject to the transfer he makes).
January 17 at 2:52 pm
heco87 says:
Yeah… we shall see. Michu Fellaini & Baines could return anything between them really … 4 –> 40.

Almost certainly a big advantage to have. Go WR you can do it!!!!

Hey guys.. heres my team.
Jaask-Bego

Bale-Mata-Michu-Walcott(C)-Puncheon
Lambert-RvP-Suarez
0.4 in the bank.. Is there any way I can get Gibbs into the team. All my defenders are 4 millioners. So direct swap is ruled out. Ready to take a hit. But dont know whether its worth it. Already have 3 DGW players in Walcott, Jaask and Demel. Any suggestions?
January 17 at 2:45 pm
thetinkerman says:
Scenario A:
Pie > Walcott & Berbs > Pog (-4) & play Walcott, Walcott/Caz > Fellaini and play Puncheon in GW24.
Scenario B:
Do nothing this week and play Berbs, downgrade a bench defender in GW24 and do Pie > Fellaini with my other FT and play Berbs.
I’ve used Chris Glover’s model and the RMT function in the members area to work out which combination would score more. Guess what the results were? You have to figure out the points total of Walcott in GW23 plus Puncheon in GW24 minus the -4 hit vs. Berbatov’s two fixtures.

thetinkerman says:
Come one, no-one? It’s surprisingly close!

Any other takers?
January 17 at 3:06 pm
thetinkerman says:
Ok, since no-one seems interested, the difference of the average of the totals from the two models is 0.05 points in favour of B.
You could argue that Walcott (c) will swing it, but I’ve got the armband on Cazorla at the moment.

ok so wc team, fill in the space for 5.1, thinking about Debuchy
Migs, Bunn
Evans, Clyne, Harte, Davies, ______
Mata, Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Punch
RvP, Aguero, Sturridge
Could maybe downgrade Evans to Gibbs (who i still have so it’s 5.5) and have 5.4 instead
January 17 at 2:48 pm
heco87 says:
Yeah, seems reasonable, if not a little punty.
Alternatively, take Demel and use the extra £ to upgrade Bunn. Is that wc team for next week yeah?
January 17 at 2:50 pm
JKisthe1 - A Founder of Berbism says:
not bothered about Bunn, I’m playing Migs most week, Bunn is only there to cover off 1 or difficult fixrtures

@ Drogba
I personally have always been hoping to see Suarez on the wing or behind the striker for his incredible ability to go past a defender. I think he could be more effective in that role(running at defenders etc., and leaving the finishing which he clearly struggles with to someone else. His energy and defensive ability would be a great help deeper as well. And I think this formation could add more goals to the team as a whole as Suarez will chip in with some screamers from the midfield as well.

Right boys n girls. Talk me out of this or tell me I am a genious.
Bale 4 Santi (Reason = He has been way more consistant than Podolski and will play more than 60 mins in both games. 5 of 6 of Podolski’s goalsbhave come in blowouts)
Ba 4 Dzeko (Reason = No City coverage. Dzeko is on form. Fulham are more vunerable than a beautiful 18 year old drunk girl in a room full of men.)

Dzeko is looking at some serious charges and possible jail time if that is the case.

JELLYFISH says:
Luiz>Gibbs worth doing for a hit? WC still available but the potential advantage of doing it now is the DGW (obviously) and also beating further price rises.
January 17 at 2:55 pm
Feanor says:
Hits often don’t work out, like me bringing in Luiz this past week.
But my current plan for my free transfer is Luiz -> Gibbs.
January 17 at 2:56 pm
thetinkerman says:
I expect 1-2 points from Luiz this weekend. Gibbs looks good for 6 points if you factor in a clean sheet vs. WHU, which is far from a given. Both could equally get attacking returns/bonus. I’d be tempted to leave it.
January 17 at 2:57 pm
thetinkerman says:
Care to take a look at my predicament above?
January 17 at 3:03 pm
JELLYFISH says:
Inclinded to agree, Davies may be a better pick than Luiz anyway. Moreover I’m still undecided on whether to pick Gibbs for my WC (going with 2 defensive big hitters and my shortlist is Gibbs Rafa & Zaba)
January 17 at 2:53 pm
Paz12 says:
Is Aguero back for the weekend? If you only had 11 season transfers remaining and no subs, would you do Ba > Aguero
Cheers
January 17 at 2:57 pm
AriseSirGiggsy says:
No. I’d keep Ba the 2.5m difference is worthwhile, and Aguero whilst mainly first choice will be rotated just as much with 3 others in competition for a startling berth

January 17 at 3:02 pm
skooldaze says:
Roy Keane was famously charged with bringing the game into disrepute in 2002 following the release of his controversial autobiography.
The then Manchester United captain was slapped with a five-match ban and fined £150,000 after incriminating himself in his own book.
January 17 at 3:03 pm
Berbilly Gilmore says:
Slightly different situation, no?
January 17 at 3:05 pm
skooldaze says:
Different yes but its the bringing the game into disrepute – 3 match ban – any money.
January 17 at 3:07 pm
AriseSirGiggsy says:
Do deliberately attempt to “do” an opponent is effectively assault with intent to wound, diving is a technical offence
Any precedent for posthumous bans for diving?
January 17 at 3:09 pm
skooldaze says:
True – keanes admission is far worse but the FA eyes will light up at this because they get flak for not doing anything for diving so will throw the book.
January 17 at 3:02 pm

possibly, but probably not for this. Liverpool’s game is one that is most at risk if there is bad weather.

Quick question:
A. Lambert or Lukaku or Remy (if his price is 6.5) ?
B. Wilshere-Jaskeelainen or Cazorla for DGW cover? (Already have Walcott, Gibbs and Demel)
January 17 at 2:57 pm
Feed the Yak and he will score says:
A. Lambert – cheap, rested and fixture proof
B. Caz
January 17 at 2:59 pm
thetinkerman says:
None of A are particularly mouth-watering, Lambert due to fixtures, Lakuku due to gametime, and Remy due to probably needing time to settle. Is this for a bench spot or a starter?
I’d get Cazorla if possible from B
January 17 at 3:01 pm
Feed the Yak and he will score says:
Lambert has scored against Manu, City and Chelsea already this season. Wouldn’t look too much at his fixtures. Southampton in good form too!
January 17 at 3:02 pm

That’s true. Lambert from those, but it’s not the most inspired move.

January 17 at 3:10 pm
Kostja says:
Im just thinking he could get a seat to avoid risking injury in the easier game. Especially as Jenk is a good enough of a replacement. Would have gone with him rather than gibbs other wise.
Lucky, but he seems to be preferred in the easy PL games, where they dont need the 2 ultra defensive mids to battle great midfielders. Looked like a bad choice vs SOT though as they were bossing the midfield too much IMO.

Alternatively, looking at their title challenge, they do
January 17 at 3:03 pm
Kostja says:
The thing is, it is not rushing him back any more, as he could have been risked vs Arsenal. So why would you not play him at least 70 if he needs to gain match fitness. What game more perfect than something like Fulham at home. Rather than throwing him in the fire in a tough game, when he lacks match fitness.
January 17 at 3:04 pm
heartsattack says:
I think he`ll start better to get him up to scratch against the bag of shit that is Fulham away than throw him in in a hard game.

Tevez and Djeko did well enough – u could be right
January 17 at 3:05 pm

Afternoon all
I think I can get away without making a change this week although O’Brien is still a risk:
Jussi x2 (Bego)
O’Brien x2, Gibbs x2, Azp (Martin R, Mariappa)
Michu, Fellaini, Walcott x2 (C), Mata (guthrie)
RVP, Suarez, BA
£0 in the bank. Guess only real option would be to bring in Pod for Ba although that would mean i couldn;t buy him back!
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
