The Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Fantasy Football Scout Cup VII were finally completed last night after Chelsea and Southampton’s 2-2 draw at the Bridge. We find a familiar name in the final, with site regular Wild Rover clinching his place thanks to a 94-75 win over Mr KK…

Now up to 146th in the overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings, Wild Rover’s decision to wield his winter wildcard for double Gameweek 22 paid off handsomely, with Demba Ba, Rickie Lambert, Juan Mata, Luke Shaw and David Luiz all racking up the returns. He loaded up on three double Gameweek 23 players last week (Joe Cole, Guy Demel and Bacary Sagna) and has already made a transfer prior to Saturday’s deadline.

Nevertheless, Wild Rover remains the underdog for the final – a clear sign of the level of competition in this year’s Scout Cup. Standing in his way of the silverware is MileHigh, who has now moved up to 18th in the world and arrives in the final courtesy of a 90-69 win over Ange1Range1. MileHigh also had five players for last week’s double, with Ba, Mata, Shaw and Luiz joined by Jason Puncheon. He still has his wildcard intact but already has four players (Theo Walcott, Kieran Gibbs, Mark Noble and Guy Demel) in his squad for the upcoming double, with a free transfer still to play.

With both sides looking well-placed to take advantage of Arsenal and West Ham’s respective pair of fixtures, we’re set for quite a battle all the way through to Wednesday evening’s fixture at the Emirates.

On behalf of Fantasy Football Scout, good luck to you both.

Meanwhile, Mr.KK and ange1range1 are left to settle matters in the third place play-off.

1 ange1range1 69 – 90 MileHigh
2 Wild rover 94 – 75 Mr.KK

Repost from the end of the last article. Regarding Lukas Podolski’s “60 minutes”…

Podolski’s minutes played per game started:
    63 71 81 73 71 66 84 64 70 80 76 79 68 66 90 78 81… 57 56.

Last two games – the first was three days after the festive fixture pileup. The second don’t know, perhaps he’s tired or is being saved for the two games of the DGW.

    In conclusion…

Is he usually subbed off? Yes.
Is he usually subbed off at this magical 60 minute figure? No.

    How’s this for my defense

    Migno 3.9
    Evans – Cameron – Wilson – Dawson – Nelsen

Pretty lightweight but got decent fixture that rotates well and defensively getting tight

Purposely having both Cameron and Wilson because I don’t want to miss out WIG and RDG in case Wilson still not fit.
Will switch Cameron to Sagna after Wilson is back nailed on.

Given Podolski will rise tonight and Gibbs might I’m understandably twitchy….

But I figure I’d better wait to be sure. Press conferences tomorrow and a slight chance of weather surprises.

Plus, I reckon Pod will rise on Friday night too and at least once during the DGW – should make at least 0.1 m selling value on him.

      Pasqualinho says:

I wouldn’t bank on it going up during the DGW. A lot of people will offload, particularly those who’ve saved the WC. If Ba keeps his starting place or Sturridge starts then they’ll be popular transfers.

isacki - losing makes winning sweeter says:

Fair point, I shouldn’t bank on it, but I see it as reasonably likely given the two games he has to get in people’s heads, and the good fixtures coming up.

          Pasqualinho says:

He may get a head start on Saturday morning transfers – I think this is your best chance. But it’s only the DGW that is making him a proposition – once deadline has passed I fancy the transfers out to outweigh the in.

Yep good point on the Saturday morning transfers. They often get people up despite them having already blanked in the day’s game!

I’m just getting him for the DGW, but let’s say he gets a goal and 2+ BAPS over the two games, pushing him to double figures – probably would get him another rise.

Anyway, will probably wait a things considered.
